For over 30 years I was in the get together business. And since churches got free rent, they were over represented. With the black churches the pre eating prayer could turn into a gospel sing. I got to hear lots of this sort of thing over the years.

I got back down to the riverhouse and planted the yard long beans. I grabbed the cucumber seeds while I was there, and added to my already too crowded cuke patch. In other cucumber news, I saw the first fruit on the Marketer vines (the left row).

Sister and all the cousins had a tree cutting and brush pulling day at the big berry patch a couple three months ago. They cleaned it up really nice. You can get in the middle of the patch now. They are loaded too. With my eat two and put one in the cup method, I'm getting about half a pint per...

I'm sure there are still lots of huckleberries at the pond, there just for the picking. But as my wife said, "damn they are little compared to blueberries." Our young bushes here on the sandhill have their best crop yet. I'm getting a few ripe ones per day.

It's been about a week since I went to the pond picking huckleberries. In total I got three of these big cups. I'm still picking around the garden everyday to eat. This is the first year most of the bushes produced on the sandhill.

My yard long beans at the sandhill did not do well, so I planted some in the raised beds at the riverhouse. Along with flint Indian corn and cucumbers in the two larger beds. In the shorter bed I planted corn and saved seed yard long beans. The saved seeds did not come up, so I will replant them...
