Idiots Guide to Hangar Kit

Got my 190 and I'm trying figure out this bloody hangar. Does anyone have a guide how to use it to hang the unit properly?

Yeah the XGS-190 ships without any kind of proper clip to attach the hangers to. Have to use 4 hangers or devise your own clips. For $525 I was astonished there wasn't one in there.

The hanging kit that's included is exactly as it shows here:

And is hung as follows:

And Surf.... You sure do complain a lot. Now you're crying about a hanging kit? Most every other light sold comes with a cheap kit, I have one, here's a pic of it:

Surf, I do not know what your deal is.... First you complain about the 190 BEFORE you even got it. Then I gave you the option of returning it. You then went on a rant calling me "pretentious" and "pompous" because of the way I responded to you, which was just in defense to what you said. All I said was you can return the light for a refund and buy something else you would rather have.

You still have the option of returning it, no restocking fee or anything ;)

crap that's what I was doing wrong... I only bought one of those heavy duty light hangers I couldn't figure out how to use it and went with the cheap one that's on your laptop.

EH,

I'd like if you and I could just put this crappy exchange to rest and bring back the positive vibe. I'm glad I bought the XGS and I hope this hempy grow proves its efficacy. The pots are already going crazy under the panel.

I like the light, and have stated that clearly several times. I didn't complain about it. I came to an LED advice thread to be reassured about the money I spent. Instead of an informative reply, I was told to return the light and that you don't want my business. You could have just used the opportunity to express why the XGS was better than the Mars II and I would have been thrilled. In fact once someone else posted a better response than yours, that got me excited about the light.

Anyhow thank you for showing us how to use the hanger. That method will work perfect for the tent. I feel like a doof for not figuring that one out and apologize for my demeanor in this and other threads.

XGS-190 as a light:
I actually really like the light and have recommended several times already to others. It seems to put out as much light as an 8-10 bulb T5HO fixture--maybe more. The photos are amazing with the all-white Crees. I'm thinking you could probably draw over an 8oz yield from just a single unit.

Only small drawbacks are that it gets the 3x3x4 tent up to just over 90 degrees (in 70 degree ambient) pretty quick with no additional ventilation, but thats easy to deal with. Would also have liked if it was quiet enough to have a tent in my room, but also not a biggie.

Overall I'd give it a 5-star rating.

Surf.... I don't about you....

It'd be a lot easier to end this "crappy exchange" if YOU STOPPED TALKING ABOUT IT. How much have you gone on about it?

Here, let us take a look:

You first said this:

Yeah after spending countless hours scouring through multiple forums, I'm starting to fear I just paid double what I should have paid for my 3x3 tent. It seems like a whole bunch of people are killing it with the Mars II lights.

Other than warranty, I don't see why the A51 lights are double the price to cover the same footprint.

Mac vs PC?
To me it looked like you wish you would've went with the "MarsII", so I replied with:

Ask A51 for a refund and buy a Mars II if you think they are better.
Sure, it's short and straight to the point, but it is what it is, the honest truth, that you have the option to return the light.

You replied with this:

I don't think either is better, and never said that I did. I was hoping someone would explain why the A51 lights are double the price to cover the same-sized footprint.

EH, as your customer, that response was really not the kind I'd hope to get from the company owner. Comes off extremely pretentious. Would it not be more effective to explain the difference in value an A51 customer gets for the extra money? I bought your light mostly as a result of the positive feedback in this forum, and thus I'd imagine others may arrive here with similar questions. So it seems not in your best interest to make a somewhat childish response like that, and it isn't making me feel any better about my purchase. Is this just a fanboy thread where people are simply supposed to assume you are the God of LED, and not even fairly weigh the competition? Perhaps you'd rather not make this comparison?

Anyhow to get back to the pros & cons of each:

XGS-190 Pros
Lower Wattage?
USA-made Diodes
XGS ability to flip to flowering mode.
Augmented Optics
A51 uses lastest all-white XTE Cree bulbs.
A51 has lifetime warranty.
Gorgeous Photos under white light

XGS-190
Cons
Lower Wattage?
Higher Price
Lack of grow journals validating new tech
Unconventional coverage area (need 2 units for a 4x4 tent)
Pretentious owner?

TopLED Mars II 1200 Pros
Higher Wattage?
Lower Price
Claims to fully cover 4'x4' footprint
Can be custom-ordered with an A51 knock-off diode arrangement (possible cause of bitterness from EH?)
Several successfully completed journals validating the unit

TopLED Mars II 1200 Cons
Higher Wattage?
Hotter temps?
Flower mode only
Chinese made all-around
Ships from China
A51 config is a custom-order
Lack of augmented optics
Warranty? What warranty?

This was my reply to that, also my last reply to you, on 12/19/2014, A MONTH AGO:

Wow, someone is blowing what I said out of proportion...

Area 51 is not about high watts and low quality low performing low cost parts, there's a reason Top LEDs cost less. Area 51 is about high PAR, high quality high performing parts and low watts. Cree LEDs cost 3-4Xs as much as those no name Taiwanese LEDs. Of course the lamp will cost more. Do you go to a Tesla car dealership and cry about their $120'000 price because you buy a Chevy Spark for $25'000? Tesla uses more expensive parts and the price reflects on that. Area 51 uses more expensive parts, and the prices reflect on that.

As for Top/LG "copying" my spectrum from 2 years ago, good for them. They are just now catching up to what I did more than 2 years ago, they must be so proud.

If you unhappy with your purchase, which you do not even have yet, by all means you should return it. It's your money, buy what you want with it. But complaining on a forum for something you do not even have yet, then going on a little tantrum calling me "pretentious" when I suggested to return the light so you can buy something that you do want, it is silly of you. And honestly, I do not want your business.
I'm not gonna dig through all of your more recent posts, but I haven't said anything in a month. YOU keep saying things, bitching about the hanging kit, calling me a Soup Nazi.

If a customer is going to be troublesome and abusive, I have every right to turn down their business. I am not obligated to sell anything to anyone.

And the reason I did not tell you that the A51 is better than the MarsII, I do not EVER tell people anything about my lights except for questions about parts used, etc., never "mine is better than _____." I do not do that. There's enough people that do use the lights that can testify to whether they work or not. I have not spent $0.01 on advertising, short of a free light here and there. All sales are a result of word of mouth and repeat customers. I do not need to go to all the forums to speak up for my light.

It's amazing how you started this entire "crappy exchange", then made yourself into the victim. You must live a very miserable life if you act this way about everything. Always pissed and complaining about everything....

Relax dude, life is short. There's no need to be the way you are.

I hung mine a little bit differently than that. I didn't use the larger clips or what ever they are called.

I don't trust those. If one knot comes undone, it falls.. I'm going to pick up chains this weekend.

EH are the lights going to get UL approved anytime in the near future?

I think the problem is, he thinks that I'm like some big metal vending machine with no feelings or thoughts, and expects me to not say anything to him when he talks crazy.

I can be a very grouchy person, it was worse when I drank every day. Since I cut back on hard alcohol- only drink that on holidays, and only drink beer maybe 1-2 times a month, usually only during WWE PPVs, I have been a lot less grouchy. My remaining non-alcohol-fueled grouchiness comes from 16+ hour work days, 7 days a week. I think the easiest going people will start to go mad with 16 hours work days.

With the slack, I tie it up on the carabiner hook. Then I retie all the other rope ends like little nooses. I weigh 265LBS and I have hung from 2 ratchet hangers, and they did okay. It passed the Ogre test.

Chains are better though, I thought about sending those with the lights instead.

There's a lot to learn with LEDs. It's difficult for someone new to the scene to easily be able to know what's what. For every Hans or Apache, there's 20 Lush LEDs. (good guy bad guy ratio leans heavily towards the bad guys)

Is that your diagnosis? I guess I'll pick up an 18 pack of PBRs for tonight. You talked me into it.

Really though, I need to increase my smoking. I used to smoke about an 1/8 every day. My partner/test grower lived 8 houses away from mine, he moved to Pittsburg for a better paying job, he's making about 150k a year now, way more than I make... I cleared about 110k last year after taxes and shit. Anyways, when he lived 8 houses down, we were smoking everyday, all day. My only connect now is sketchy, and very petty over the smallest shit. I rarely grow anything, it's not that legal here.

I'm moving soon to somewhere more legal, just looking for the right place. I'm gonna have a huge test grow area. I'll be smoking every day again.

Seriously, I'm on my way to 7/11 to get my PBRs. I blame you :fire: I'm getting some pizzas too from Little Caesar's. The Jeff special, 2 pizzas.

Well that's the problem friend^^^.....you cut back too aggressively on the alcohol:-P !!

Actually, yes they are. They are within the UL guidelines, I just need to send them a light to get it certified. I just recently started looking into it.

EH are the lights going to get UL approved anytime in the near future?

Yeah, I'm in NOVA. I like the east coast. But this particular area is full of dummies.

It's funny whenever it snows here. 1 snowflake is spotted, and it's state of emergency time. Everyone freaking out...

Meanwhile in Chicago, where I lived before here, driving to work in 3 feet of snow. UPHILL, BOTH WAYS...

Tightpocket, you'd be doing yourself and garden an injustice by doing so.
Admiral was clearly spreading false information about the A51 product in this public forum.
So EH corrected Admiral, which is something our whole LED community has been doing for a month or two now.
We've been very nice to him, but he keeps crying "the sky is falling" when he doesn't understand something, which unfortunately is more often then not.
Admiral says he's gonna use the light, he thinks it will do great, but the way he talks about it carries a vibe of "I'll use it, but I don't have to like it!".
I think he's publicly painted himself into a corner, so in order to save face, he's using the A51 light.
Now, to be fair, he is actually sticking around and trying to save face, where many others have simply disappeared from the board lately, so I'll give him that.
We've all had to take our lumps, usually early on in careers here, when we didn't know exactly what we were talking about, and had to be corrected.
I just wish the Admiral would back off the attitude and relax.
EH is still willing to give the guy his money back, in full, after Admiral has used and publicly misrepresented the product.
You really, seriously, think that's bad customer service?

I love it when there's a big storm coming, everyone freaks out and clears the shelves at the grocery stores. First things to go are milk, bread and eggs. Apparently everyone has the urge to make French Toast.

And on a more serious note, just go to Ebay and enter "1/8 rope ratchet". Get what you need and quit whining.
