Nutrient Burn or Deficiency?

@MonkeyGrinder so what do u think the problem is? i cant diagnose without knowing pH or using miracle gro for anything other than house plants lol
Oh and I was in no way being condescending or anything with that whole quart statement. I actually found that out about a week or so ago when I was poking around. I thought the same thing because the instructions are all over the place on those boxes. At a half teaspoon per quart the indoor strength would still be a diluted dose vs the "outdoor full strength"

My plants are 3 weeks into flowering and since about a week ago many of the lower leaves are starting to turn light green and/or brown then die. I am growing in promix soil and using miracle gro bloom (I know its not the best nutes, no need for speeches, ive heard it all). I think I may have given them to much food, then did it again when I though it was nute deficiency, but they are just getting worse... Am I severely burning my plants or is it really a deficiency?

First, don't listen to MG haters, it's a fantastic product!. Second, get rid of the bloom, and get the African Violet plant food, and the Cactus plant food by MG...the first has an NPK ratio of 7-7-7, perfect in my opinion for veg, the second has an NPK ratio of 2-7-7 which is perfect for flower, but I mix mine so it has enough N..........

And even though people on this thread are saying 3-6 weeks and your leaves should be turning...BAHAHAHA...sorry I find this funny.
This girl is in MG with absolutely no extra nutes other than fresh soil, as I transplant 4 times in 120 days (my cycle from clone to finish flower)......She's 4-1/2 weeks into flower and 90 days old...mmmm, nice healthy green leaves, wow, from MG :hump:

I have leave on one of my plants in veg that look JUST like that. It's not burn IMO, and feeding it just water has made it worse. I've been experimenting and the 'darkness', as I like to call it, is spreading and getting worse no matter what I do. They are turning greyish and becoming necrotic, twisting and bending until they are dead. No burnt edges and the leaves that aren't effected look healthy as can be. Does this sound like what you have? I'm in the philly area, maybe it's something weird or fungal were both experiencing?

Miracle Grow plant food is really not better or worst than any other nutrient. The bad rep comes from their soil that is pre loaded with nutrients already in it that newbies love to get against better judgement, only to overwater and in doing so totally overfeed.

I've become a recent believer in Jacks Classic and Pro-mix over coco and expensive nutrients.

The best bud grown in my area by a local old head I know is grown in promix with alaskan fish fert all purpose(2-3-1) and their 'bloom booster'(0-10-10) in flower when needed.

I am in coco/perlite. Using RO water and adding 100ppm cal/mag, 300ppm FloraNova grow. Only one of my plants is showing the same symptoms as yours, and ALL my other plants in veg are healthy. Funny thing is it doesn't seam to be slowing the plant down much, if at all. It's been doing it for a month. It's still growing at the same pace as everything else, and new growth always looks good, but I have leaves doing exactly what yours are doing. The other weird thing that has me stumped is that it's not workign it's way up or down, it just happens on random leaves, new and old.

I am not hating on MG. it's got the same element found in every other fertilizer except the NPK ratio isn't optimized for pot. If it is, I'd be using it because it's so much cheaper. Anyways impressive MG grow, you should give him some advice on how much to feed with the African violet MG food. Are you just following label directions on the back or are you also doing things like maintaining pH and a certain PPM.. Etc.

Ima have to agree with you on the phos thing. Middle of the leaves crinkling up and browning. Hell I even pulled out the cheatsheet for it to double check lol.
If OP could give us a rundown of everything that would be good. What size pots. How much actual liquid fert he's feeding em and whatnot. Indoor/Outdoor? Autoflowers or photoperiod?
Also OP what are you using to actually measure your food with before you add water to it? If it's the MG double scoop then the small end is a half teaspoon. The big end is a Tablespoon and a half. There's actually a small line on the inside of the big scoop end to measure just 1 tablespoon. The whole giant scoop is for 1.5 gallon watering cans.
So 6 of those itty bitty scoops per 1 gallon of water (level it off with your finger or something don't just dump it in there mounded) is a full dose. I generally only would throw a half dose of it on a plant unless they could actually take more. You're actually giving more than a half dose with 2 teaspoons/gallon.
But there's not a whole lot of potash in there though either like urgod stated.

I've actually only used their bloom booster this year and had good results with it. Ran it on some autos along with their tomato formula. But I alternated back and forward between tomato formula and bloom (to curve the low K a bit) besides the last 2 feedings in flower. The last feeding I hit em with full strength and then just gave em water the last 10 days or so. But it also put em in the danger zone of N. They turned that oh shit dark green color. But those were also small autos. Other than that I've had no deficiencies in any of my girls this year besides waaaayyyy late spring and it was a calmag issue.
If I'm in veg I swap back and forward between the tomato formula and all purpose at half strength. Hell they were actually taking more than that by the end of veg. Some are still in the veg stage. But they're photoperiods and a whole lot bigger than some spindly autos. They can take it.
My schedule goes water, water feed as needed when it's dry. But when I feed though I feed 20% of the pots actual volume. Generally that soaks up well and I get a little runoff when done. The girls are in 5 gallon containers (probably about to shoot for 7 or 10) Hit em each with 1 liter. Have a smoke. Let the liquid soak up in the pots pretty evenly. Hit em again and get runoff.
Take from that part what you will OP.

Switching over to Jack's Classic after this round for veg and bloom. Their bloom booster has that nice 1/3/2 ration on N-P-K.
Been farting around with it on a couple plants and they're healthy as can be and like their well rounded diet. Te original 20 - 20 - 20 formula anyways.
3 gallon pots
Promix Soilless
400w HPS
Indoors
Photoperiod sativa strain
Each about 4 feet tall
I was using 4 level scoops of the small end of the scoop per gallon of water
I give my plants about 1/2 gallon of water every 3 days

This is about my 5th grow but my FIRST in a soilless mix. I have never had any probs using the MG bloom boost before.

I also want to add that I barely get any runoff in my 3 gallon pots when giving them 1/2 gallon of water and they have PLENTLY of drainage holes.

I just water, and barely feed. (no checking PH) I end up giving my girls very little nutes, because the MG has pretty much all I need. And I don't know where you heard that MG doesn't have the right NPK ratio, probably from some "weed guru"...well I'm here to tell you it's just not true...It was all started by someone that had an interest (stock) in another soil company...I used to make my own supersoil and MG works just as good...here's my supersoil grow...my last big grow...

by 3 weeks about half of my lower fan leaves are yellow by about 6 weeks more then half are yellow buds are huge fan leaves almost gone im 5 weeks in got about maybe 15 fan leaves left stonker buds on her tho
Id guess your feeding regiment is slightly off. 3 weeks into flower your plant is still using nitrogen.

Your bud is probably still fantastic, but those are the signs on not being 100% dialed in.

What I learned is to give straight veg nutes first week or two of flower, then 50/50, then all bloom.

Provides a little extra N for the plant to store and I think the gradual change benefits the plant as well

I thought you were suppose to flower with ratio of 1-2-2? miracle bloom is 1-2-1?

Also, please get a pH test kit. It's $12 dollars on amazon. Once you get it then you will know what your nutrient problem is really caused by.

Well sorta, MJ likes an even keel when they are in veg, but when they go into flower they want more P & K and don't use too much N, but you still have to keep those leaves green to feed the buds that will grow.........but you are absolutely right about PH tester, I have one (don't use it anymore, but I have one) I got a pen from Newegg.com for 15 bucks

Ill get a pH test kit and hopefully figure this out! Would my pH be to high or low when locking out nutes? and is there a quick fix till I'm able to get the pH kit?

This is the night I need to water also, they are almost completely dried up! What should I do? Plain water or water/nutes? I have the MG bloom booster and MG nutes with an NPK of 3-1-1, don't remember the kind just the npk

So I should just use a very low doseage of the bloom booster every watering? will this keep the pH in better balance by using less nutes each watering?

When I was using soil instead of soilless, I was watering my plants with 1qt of water with 1/2 teaspoon of bloom booster EVERY day and I never had problems. I heard that watering everyday was bad, so for this grow I tried to go with more water, less frequently. Should I go back to how I used to water? or did I have less problems then because soil acts as a better buffer then the soilless mix I'm using now?

If I was having problems with my PH, I would check into the PH Perfect Connoisseur nutrient line. Instead of messing with my PH I'd just mix and forget it...

Hey, I have a bit of this same thing going on. I want to say it is getting better and I want to say, because it started with the nute switch, that it is the plant adjusting to the nute switch. I want to say it...but I am not sure its true...will know more when I water and fully inspect tonight or tomorrow. Most of the plant seems just fine. Not in Philly area. Shocking at first to me being new...and hardly a blemish on the green beauties all veg. Not limited to 1 plant but not all have exactly that...all are showing a bit of N deficiency. Tempted to give a little veg nute....but won't.

Mind also started as soon as I switched nutes, I first though it was the jump over because I immediately started with full strength. Veg went great, not a dead leaf in sight.
