What I don't get is they say to keep them 40 w cfl 1 in away from plant but when I do that it gets 90f its 85 f at 5 in away not the hole room just the spot under the light but my buds like it noticing leafs look over watered but I think its the heat

In my experience those higher watt bulbs do get hotter than the more common 23-26w bulbs,so I wouldn't put them that close. If you can't touch the bulb without burning, theyre too hot to use imo.90f at the tops near the light is ok as long as you have good airflow and exchange. Some strains are just more heat tolerant than others.

That's just about where i'm at and i do ok:).About 90 at the lights and about 78-80 on the floor.

I remember you said you use 2ltr bottles for containers?Me too:).I've noticed that the top of the soil will be dry but down deeper it's still wet.I just put a couple slits with a razor down the sides at the bottom to help dry out.I usually water every 3-4 days, more frequently the bigger the plants get.GL

Hey what do you guys think, three 250 watt fluorescent lights for three plants, two indica pures, and one 50/50 hybrid with regular potting soil in 10 gallon containers, with six feet of grow room, and super cropping all of them on the main stem once? I'm a noon fyi

I have grown with CFLs because I can't use hot lights in the space I have. But I noticed that my buds were not very dense at harvest. Good quality, but low quantity/output. Is this common with CFL growers?

Going to retire my 40 watt CFL bulbs and replace them with 35 watt HID's. 3500lm>2200lm radiant heat went up, closet temps went down 280watts>320watts. Ill report back if i can smoke my 23 watt cfl's .6 gpw

yes it is. Airy buds below is from lack of penetration from the lights. Airy buds up top are from the low light + heat coming off the cfl's because they are soo close. Have you tried a 250hps?

The OP stated not to pay attention to the equivalent wattage and go for actual wattage. I had no idea about that. Going to see how high of wattage I can get tonight and bump it up some!
