3000k 3500k 4000k COB?

Hey guys so some of you might recall a newb LED thread I posted a little while back asking about LED recommendations. It was made very clear to stay away from commercial blurple LED even though some of them looked pretty decent but very highly over priced.

Through all the kind feedback and debates from the RIU members it was recommended again and again to go the DIY route and to build my own COB fixture. Now I have been researching about building my own COB and with importing and shipping charges it's going to actually cost me around the same as buying a commercial LED.

I have looked at Optic and Heavensbright and I'm also keeping an eye out for PLC, however I'm still contemplating on building my own COB LED.

My questions is I've seen most guys using 3000k COBS and some guys using 4000k and some saying a mix of both is good. Then I've also seen some saying that 3500k would be a better mix. What I'd like to know is what would be the best recommendation to use for a full grow for use from veg to flower? I'm leaning towards 3500k although I've seen a lot is successful grows with only 3000k.

So for all the COB DIY gurus at RIU what would you suggest or recommend? Thanks once again guys.

@stardustsailor claimed that 3000K was all one needed throughout the seasons, while I believe @Greengenes707 is claiming 3500K is all you need, all the while other growers, including myself, have grown with 4000K throughout flower with stellar results.

Visually, 3500K and 4000K slightly differ in visual appearance, with 4000K being just a little more efficient than 3500K and 3500K packing a few more umol.

In short, you really can't go wrong with any of these choices and for anyone to claim that only one of the colors is the utmost best would be someone difficult to take seriously, as there would be so many factors to take into account in order to secure such a claim.

I can't find top bin 3500k cxa3070s for a decent price for my new build. So I'm mixing 4k and 3k evenly.

The parts, price, and build quality of the new Pacific Light Concepts makes it the most attractive commercial fixture to me. Esp a good option for those that are not mechanically inclined.

Mind posting it for the rest of us.
http://www.pacificlightconcepts.com/shop/

looks like $749 will be the intro price. Quick math on the parts: 6 cx()3070 @40ea = $240 + $140 for 2 MW drivers + $110 for (2) 24" 5.886 heatsink profiles and say another $100 for fans, ac/dc adapter, wiring, cob holders, paste, hanging hardware, etc Total $590 That estimate might be on the lean side as top bins are often more than $40 when buying only 6. Then there is shipping and labor to build the thing. I dont know GG or have any affiliation with him other than reading his posts and thread. I intend to buy one of these fixtures when they come out, hang it in the garden and report on its performance without bias.

That's what I was saying before goby started, im an electronics engineer and I can easily buy a light now much cheaper than I can make one even using full spectrum cobs, i was just giving you a name of one I hear good things about.

Galaxyhydro do a decent grow light for 100 quid, 300w and 600w always in top ten led lights.
i don't think galaxy does anything with white light (5000k,3000k) and top ten led light doesn't mean anything besides money spent in marketing. A 600w hps set up is the same price too. Besides that anything between 3 and 4 thousand gets my vote

Twat, wasn't talking to you gay boy, was to the guy asking.
I'm not gay, and you just implied those that are gay are stupid.

The question in this thread by djweed420 is what temperature COB to use.

NOBODY asked for another random led company. I mean shoot that is just another Chinese 3w epiled panel. It doesn't even say what its temperature it is. absolutely nothing to do with COBS.

Friggin Idiot.
