how much Dolomite Lime?

Right on. Ive been feeling a pull to try a more organic approach but the yields i get from coco w/ hydro nutes is pulling me back. I bought a bag of super coco and a bag of coco loco. Trying that out and hopefully i will get good enough results to make the switch.

I ammend all my soils with dolomite lime, among other things, at a rate of 1cup per 1.5 cubic feet of soil, or per bag. Then I add in 25% perlite.
Knowing that my soil is buffering pH keeps me from ever having to worry about pH. Ever.
I do not adjust or even test pH anymore, not ever.
But I'm also a Heavy16 user and don't have too.

Knowing your soil is half the battle.

Peace

Oyster shell flower from what ive been reading here. Id feel really stupid if it was an abbreviation for something else haha. Basically like dolomite lime.

I guess im asking if dolomite lime or oyster shell break down in hydro solution or does it need bacteria and mycos.

Here is an article that made me think twice about adding it. I never have added it and I have never had any problems.

From my own personal experience, especially in FFOF, even with dolomitic lime you will have magnesium problems. The problem is that the calcium breaks down quicker than the magnesium and is more readily available sooner. Usually becomes available at about the 2 week mark when the ph stops going down down down. I may be wrong, but the girls seem to tell me the same thing every time. Without the dolomitic lime in FFOF i have to PH everything and it still is way too acididc, which is very annoying.

not imo pappy... ive never ph'd once and my journal speaks for itself since ive switched to soil
So how do you know what soil ph really is? Or what works best if you never tested.

Dont worry. I used to think the same way. Youll keep learning and eventually realize even organic based bottled nutrients are subpar to ammemnded living soil. Fox farm nutrients are junk. Even big bloom. Is that all you use or the trio?

Im not trying to be an asshole just dont like misinformation being spread as truth. This isnthe organic section. We are trying to learn the art of growing chemicle and bottled nutrient free. Sounds to me like you need to empty your cup. So to speak.
And btw just cause big bloom says ORGANIC is huge bold letters dorsmt change the faxt that it is chaelated and stored in an anaerobic environment. Hmm. How does thay work if we are trying to create a living soil enviroment.

thats the best way to learn pappy.... only take advice from the net as an idea or experiment...never accept it to 100% fact... i know im not always right but im also not a dick when someone else throws there opinion out there... i just state my opinion and move on ... not wait 24 hours to insult them

lol most likely. or check out the hydro forums. may be more usefull information pertaining to your grow over there. But basically your trying to raise ph in a soiless medium? my common sense is telling me adding oyster shell or dolomite might be counterproductive. its been awhile since i used synthetics but i would have probable flushed big time with balanced water. let her dry out, and continue feeding schedule at 1/2 strength. So is it just the yeilds making you shy away from living organics? There are ways to up your yeilds, little tricks which can be picked up on. and the results are hands down undeniable.
its hard to be "more organic". because unless your dive headfirst all the way it will never be the same. check out my journals for some examples of the power of water only soils. will be updating in a day or two with my soil recipes.
