Hello!
I missed out on a lot of the action here but I've caught up.
I'm currently running a Brainstorm (bright green one, Dutch Passion), a Mendocino Purple Kush (courtesy of Medical Seeds) and two distinct Power Kushes from Dinafem in 100% perlite 4.5L buckets.
All of them under a 250 watt ceramic metal halide. I'm using rotation + LST to keep an even canopy. Luminance is not enough for four plants but I can get the bulb very close to the canopy and I plan on arranging them in a stadium style in the future to make the best out of the fixture.

Looks like you have a lot of plant under the lamp there. Have you started flower?

I know. The pic is taken at such an angle that it makes it look bigger. They're two weeks and 1 day into 11/13. Total space is 2.5x2.5 feet and it's not filled out
Is it too late to cut off a couple of lower branches in case I need to?

I have pruned up to twenty days into flower, nothing major mind you, but lower branches should be fine. I plan on trimming lower branching on the WR and EC at or before the twenty day mark and I am at 11 days now. My cabinet it 4x2.5 and I am growing two plants, have grown more in the cab at one time.

@grapefruitmarmalade you can't fim or top but as GR said you can prune up to 3wks in with no ill effects.

I will be pruning both plants within the next three days. Going to prune for at least 20 clones and probably more. Going to remove a lot of bottom growth. Using RootRiot planting cubes, have used them before with much success. I will select the two strongest of each strain as mothers, and eventually get that to one mother each strain.
The remainder will be planted in Folgers plastic can Hempy buckets that hold exactly 1.2 gallons. These cans should work great, 8" T X 6.5" W , I will get a picture soon. Want to do a 14 + plant SOG and that will depend on how each strain turns out. Looks as if there will be a good differential in height. Right now the Exodus Cheese is out growing the White Rhino as it seems to be a sativa dom pheno. The WR is very indica, short with tight nodes and much broader leaves. Really don't want to have to block up 8 buckets to match height. Any thoughts?

Ok got up this morning with a mission in mind. Today is prune and clone day.
Here are the two ladies after prune and ready for water/nutes.

The clones of the two ladies, 13 each, hope to get at least 8 to 10 of each to do my SOG.

Going to have to build a containment/drain to put the clones buckets in for flower. Thinking of a 1"x6" frame, plywood bottom and either heavy plastic or white rubberized paint, It will need to be 42"x30" to hold the 20 clones.

These are the Folgers coffee cans I was speaking of. I should be able to get at least 20 in the cabinet if I can get a few more cans, have 17 at present. As stated it is 8x6.5.

what are you fine folks using to keep the algae at bay? i soil capped it which has somewhat kept it from returning on top, but the hole near the bottom is growing algae inside, thx.

I capped my perlite with hydroton. No algae problems (~10wks in). For my drain hole, I have a spigot (black plastic) and a 1/2" hose (black vinyl). Never had any issues with gunk of algae around the exit.

White Rhino & Exodus Cheese
Day 30 of 12/12

The WR and EC are doing fine in flower. Not sure why I did not get a picture of EC today when working the plants. Oh well will get one over the next few days. Their buds are getting bigger, not as fast as I would like, but they are doing fine.
WR taken today,

I will be doing some leaf tucking tomorrow and may have to remove some of the fans, not really wanting to do that though, so hoping tucking will suffice. The distance between the node was so very short that I never felt comfortable super cropping this plant and she is so short and compact. Her nugs and really stacking. I hope some of her clones make it as she will make a great SOG plant.

I posted this in my journal a couple of days ago.
Some of my clones have taken a dive. Transplanted into the one gallon Hempy buckets on 12/12/15 and they all looked ok at that point. Since then some have just totally gone down hill. Looks like over nutes at first but all were treated the same and over half are doing ok. Nutes were at .25 rate!

Update on that journal post,
I lost three of the WR and one EC, when I pulled them from their plugs they still had some roots but they were all dead on top. They may have survived but I went ahead and replaced them with the last four plants still in the rooting trays, one WR and 3 EC's.

Here's a few from a couple of days back. Today is day 60 from switch (11/13 at first, now they are under 10/14)

I'm thinking of adding some coco to my buckets next time. I was thinking all perlite rez, then a gradient of perlite and coco and final layer 2 inches of straight coco for capping reasons.
My question is do I need to chase with a CalMag additive? I'm using General Hydroponics 3 part solution

Hello fellow hempy mavens. Haven't been able to do much posting, but still lurking
around these parts sometimes.

Gr8, your current round looks really nice. Looks like the WR is everything
the Black Russian wasn't for you. Top job! Glad to see you, Watt and Java, among
others, still keeping this thread viable!

Grapefruit, love seeing another 250w grower! Your grow looks very nice, dense and
beautiful buds. Great job.

I've been messing around with feminizing to stockpile some seeds and having some good
results. Did some pollen chucking too, just to see what sticks in some feminized crosses.

This round I ran Sour Diesel and THC Bomb together, along with a couple of my own
crosses from previous seedings - OG/Purple Cheddar, and Kosher/Tangie.

This is SD#2 which was the most resinous of the bunch. She has a real sour smell to
her and tight bud structure, but not really bulky.




THC Bomb #2 had some problems early on in flower. She is heavily seeded and her bud structure
is hosed because of it. She has a nice sweet smell and dense buds.



Here is the 2 crosses I made. I just shoved these in the corner wherever I could find room
and they still turned out very nice. Looking forward to sampling the final results.
Kosher/Tangie first, followed by OG/Purple Cheddar.




Lest anyone think I gave up the scrog, I saved the big girls for last.

THC Bomb #1 looks to be the superior of the 2 TBombs. She has great bud structure and solid
all around growth. Smell is even slightly sweeter than TBomb #2.




Sour Diesel #1 is very similar to #2 but not as greasy looking. Overall bud size is slightly better
on #1 but doesn't look quite as nice as #2 does. I hit both of these with the other's pollen so hopefully
get a mix of the 2 giving me the best of both.

If you are using GH Micro, then if you go to Coco Hempys you can use H3ad's formula for coco.
I have tried using the gradient layering and have used perlite, vermiculite, and different formulations of coco with this gradient. I do not use perlite or vermiculite in any of my grows now.
At present I am using Botanicare Cocogro, the loose bagged coco/Growstone, 75/25, with GH Micro and GH Bloom and have good results. This grow I tried using a 2 inch cap of compost/vermicompost, I will be going back to a straight 2 inches of coco.
I just removed the two mothers from their one gallon Hempys, root pruned and repotted in 4" pots. Here is a pic of the roots on this plant.


As you can see I cut the mothers back considerably.
