Getting back to the original post, here's a tidbit:

Donald Trump's sons behind nonprofit selling access to president-elect
New Texas-based group not legally required to disclose its donors
https://www.publicintegrity.org/2016/12/19/20564/donald-trumps-sons-behind-nonprofit-selling-access-president-elect

A new Texas nonprofit led by Donald Trump’s grown sons is offering access to the freshly-minted president during inauguration weekend — all in exchange for million-dollar donations to unnamed “conservation” charities, according to interviews and documents reviewed by the Center for Public Integrity.

And the donors’ identities may never be known.

Prospective million-dollar donors to the “Opening Day 2017” event — slated for Jan. 21, the day after inauguration, at Washington, D.C.’s Walter E. Washington Convention Center — receive a “private reception and photo opportunity for 16 guests with President Donald J. Trump,” a “multi-day hunting and/or fishing excursion for 4 guests with Donald Trump, Jr. and/or Eric Trump, and team,” as well as tickets to other events and “autographed guitars by an Opening Day 2017 performer.”
--------------
“This is problematic on so many levels,” said Larry Noble, the general counsel of the Campaign Legal Center, a nonpartisan campaign reform organization. “This is Donald Trump and the Trump family using a brand new organization to raise $1 million contributions for a vague goal of giving money to conservation charities, which seems a way of basically just selling influence and selling the ability to meet with the president.”

Noble cautioned that the details of the event and its association with the new nonprofit listing the Trump brothers as directors are still unclear.

You've got to hand it to these folks, they sure know how to make money. I wonder if they jumped through the regulatory hoops or just depend on daddy to take care of the red tape for them.

I can't wait to hear the wingnuts defending this.

Have you read those e-mails? I have and they were banal. They were clearly interoffice musings by incompetent hacks. A few stupid heads talking to each other? This happens every day. It's unethical and should be a firing offense but throw an entire election by talking?
You're a smart guy, I don't think there's a way for someone like you to react this way to the content of the emails had you actually read them

The DNC leaks prove;

-Clinton holds private positions while courting donors and public positions to court constituents
-DWS threatened members of the media who she felt reported on Clinton too negatively
-Clinton actually supports TPP and unrestricted free trade privately, while publicly condemning it
-the DNC tried to shame Sanders by highlighting his lack of religion during the primary
-Clinton said the American people are "too hard" on Wall Street
-the DNC purposefully organized it so that conservative states voted first in the democratic primary, to give the perception that she had the nomination on lockdown on super Tuesday
-the DNC organized it so that voters couldn't change their registration in order to vote for Sanders leading up to the election because you had had to register as a Democrat months ahead of time
-Donna Brazile fed the Clinton campaign debate questions ahead of time
-Tim Kaine was given the VP slot in 2015, meaning Sanders, and at least 29 others were not even considered

So what about any of this do you find banal, exactly?

What if Sanders had ran as an Independent and lost? Because that's a scenario that could have happened

If that happened, it would have destroyed third party contention for many elections to come in the exact same way they still blame Nader for W. today. That was a risk even Sanders couldn't take, and I don't blame him for it. Instead, he chose the more conservative route, which, as MBB has noted, is an oxymoronic position to take for someone claiming to lead a revolution. I think Sanders believed a Trump administration would be worse for the country than him simply swallowing his pride and endorsing Clinton, going back to the drawing board and getting back to work to help the middle-class, what he's been doing his entire career in government. So that's what he did. She lost, now Trump is the president and Sanders is sitting in a unique position. Everyone knows he was right, the results of the election proved it. This gives him an enormous amount of leverage when it comes to the direction of the Democratic Party. The fight for control of the DNC is ongoing. The result of that will tell you where we are likely headed going into the midterms and the 2020 election.
Now that it is the way it is, I hope you're right. I hope the DNC goes far enough.

I myself wouldn't hold my breath though, I've been down this road before, it's called False Hope Blvd. one block over from the corner of It Takes Time and See isn't it better" street.

The new crop is a clone of the old crop. We pretty much know what to expect even if we haven't seen the pheno types yet.

We need to change the strain.

But I understand everyone has to use up their last ounce of disgust in their own time.
I guess I'm saying the difference between us is you still have hope.

I have hope that spreading the word will inform and ignite enough people to action that we can effect real change.

hillary won more votes than any white male, ever.

minor tweaking is all that's in order on the national level.

it will be quite easy once paul trumpence goes after social security and medicare, drive us into a pointless war, and crash the economy. like republicans always do.

Absolutely I agree with you about the need to clean up the primary. It's been evolving since the turn of the last century and primaries weren't even decisive for the nomination until 1972. There is a long history of back room dealing that has to be flushed out of the system. It was unethical what happened between members of the DNC and some operatives in the Clinton campaign.
If you know that then what are you arguing about with me? you accept the premise the primaries are corrupt. are these the set of facts we should work from? if so i'm down bro.

Do you think it's possible or even desirable to have the kind of system that monitors all people involved in the election process for ethics? I'm not asking about legal matters, just ethics.
I think it is desirable, there is no reason everything shouldn't be transparent, that's the way it is supposed to be. Otherwise who is making the decisions in a democracy?

If we are spied on we can certainly "spy" on our leaders. Stream meetings live on the internet.

I hear you, It's just that I don't have faith the democrats will be all that much better. I know you support some of the up and comers, maybe some will turn out to be gems, I don't really know much about them. If they turn out to be a new breed they would win me back. I don't mean talk the talk of a new breed, but walk the walk. Then I'll be right there with them.

I've given up taking the dems seriously for a long time now. The way I see it, this whole system needs a serious long over due overhaul, I don't even want to know about anyone who is like the repubs and dems we've had for the last 50 years.

Donna Brazile fed debate forum questions to Clinton IMMEDIATELY after DWS resigned in SHAME.

I wouldn't hold my breath on transparency.

There's too much in it for them (Establishment) which is why the system needs overhaul; expecting them to just turn over a new leaf is foolish thinking.

you don't need faith, just a brain.

go ahead, try and secure medicare and social security through another party. go ahead and split the only party that is for civil rights and equality.

lots of luck going it alone.

I don't think they are for civil rights and equality, they only claim to be. we can go round and round on that, so I'd rather not.

If I am alone, then i don't think I'd be splitting much of anything. So you have no worries there.
