Not to be disrespectful, brother, but those are not COBs. You want either Cree CXB3590s, Bridgelux Vero29C (Seventh Gen), or Citizen 1212s or 1818s.
Yo,

I'm having trouble finding the Cree 3590s anywhere. What are the main differences between the 3 you listed? I found the vero 29c on digikey. I am going to order parts over the next week or so and start working on something.

Get the Vero29C (Gen 7) in 3500k. It'd be better.
Ok, I found the 3590s and the Vero29c. Im going to go with 4 across a 42" bar that goes across most of my space. All with individual heat sinks mounted to aluminum angle. Could I drive the 4 with a 320h 2100 (that's the 300 watt setup Timber has) safely without a fan? If I'm going to do this and spend the money, I want to make sure I'm actually maxing everything out this time. Thanks for all the light help and keeping me away from the plants! lol

You should probably get a $10 computer fan.

Ok, I'm pretty much setup with getting this cob thing worked out over the next couple weeks. Until then, back to the plants! It has been 3 days since I watered, and the very top of the soil is dry, but just below the surface, I can still feel a bit of dampness.

She's seems to be growing ok, but I'm a perfectionist and the leaves seem to be growing wonky. I think everything is starting to droop a little because it's almost time to water. Also, there are a few brown spots(first picture lowest leaf) on some of the lower leaves. I've tried to match them to a deficiency or excess of something and can't really pinpoint a problem.

The other two will be transplanted on Monday when their new containers arrive. I'm cutting it close, but it looks like they are going to clear the top of the cup after all. Crazy how different the fan leaves on all 3 strains are!IMG_1814.JPGIMG_1816.JPG IMG_1817.JPGIMG_1818.JPG

Did you put drain holes in those cups?

What do you think about 4 vero7gens powered by 2 x185h1400b? 2 of these are roughly the same as a 320h 2100 and my thought is running at 1400 would be cooler. Still less wattage at the wall than my 2 panels would have been and ppf is through the roof.

Ok just checking leave can droop from over watering if it fells wet right below the surface they don't need water
Yea the ones in the cup seem to be doing pretty good. Maybe the first one in the planter needs more holes in the bottom. I'll be transplanting to a fabric pot soon enough so as long as I get through 1-2 more waterkngs I will be fine

It depends how you wire them at 2100ma the chips will draw more power than at 1400ma so if you wire in series the hlg 185 1400 will have higher efficiency per watt but it will put out less light than running at 2100ma you will need active cooling if running at 2100ma

I'm trying to maximize my ppf, but I would rather not have to rely on an extra fan for extra cooling if I don't have to. The vero system from Timber is powered by 2 185h1400. It's advertised at 195 par watts and over 900 ppf. How would the 2 drivers be wired in with the 4 cobs?

Disregard. Going with single 320h 1400b. Should be perfect for my application

Make sure you put a few inches of growstones

Its great that folks want to help out with cob info and such, but hijacking a brother's thread is bullshit. Private message them instead.

I was a little offended at first, but if you were considering buying panels and perusing journals to decide whether they were a good option, wouldn't you want people openly expressing their opinion? This is my first grow, and I appreciate all the help I can get. Private messaging helps me out, but it doesn't help any one else using grow journals to research their own grow.

Thanks for looking out though. This thread is far from hijacked. We've got a lonnnnng way to go :D

Yo amigo, I am worried about your foliage sitting too close to your soil. The node density is awesome, but your plants are a bit squat. Using a couple of CFLs to supplement your LEDs and hanging them a bit farther from your plants may help you stretch them out a bit.. Would hate to see you get mildew, gnats, or damp pests before you see your first flowers.
Other than that, make sure you're letting your root zone dry up real well before you water. (I know a few have said that already, but we just want you to know that it's important haha).

But otherwise they are looking good! Keep it up mate.
