lol bd beats kind but thank god we have evolved to better mmore wall plug efficient growlights with ssl80 osram, luxeon rebels or various cree top bin options 50~63% efficient in par pr watt compared tø

Hello guys what would 900w of vero 29 compare to 2 315 lecs on btus of heat. I am wondering if 2 315 lecs would run cooler then 3 300 watt new tasty vero 29.
I have alway ran led but I am considering using 2 315s on a mover for my 4x6 area I think it will be optimal for electrical useage just worried about the heat compared to led.

2x 315 watt would be less heat than 900w.

You can assume pretty much all energy that a growlight (or any light) uses becomes heat.
A small amount gets stored in the biomass of the plant, but that's not really significant.

The only reason I am leaning to the 315's is more coverage from what I gather is a 315 will do 9 sq and my 300 w vero 29 tasty will do 8 sq ft . I am to a point where I need to cover a 4x6 with the least amount of electric used. I am really leaning towards buying an agra mover as well to help but I do not see any cobs on mover reviews to know how well it will work I see alot with hps and lec. I have also seen a few vids and post about quicker flower by almost a few days and possible higher thc content with the lec's uvb compared to led. Heat was my only issue with the switch I figured the 315s would make the room hotter then 900w of cob.

I thought the 315 lec put of more btu's of heat then a cob led so a 300 watt led and a 315 watt lec are pretty much identical in heat out put?

Only a small percentage of light gets used by photosynthesis.
The rest of the light that doesn't get reflected becomes heat, since reflection is never 100%, all light (that doesn't get used for photosynthesis) eventually becomes heat energy.

In a closed box, 315 watt of CFL, CMH, LED, incandescent etc. etc. will all heat it up equally.
In a growbox there are plants storing part of the energy but the difference is small.

Does the way the Led distributes the heat on the heat sink change how much is actually put in the air of room does it get rid of it better then a 315 if that question makes sense lol ?

The distribution shouldn't make any significant difference.

I am not trying to be a turd but if I put a 315 lec in a room and measure the heat it will be almost identical to the same room with a 300 w led seriously ?
In a closed environment with no light leaking outside, yes.

What do you think happens with light that doesn't get reflected (and isn't used for photosynthesis), it turns into heat.
And since no material is 100% reflective, eventually all light ends up as heat. (If it doesn't get used for photosynthesis)
Photosynthesis efficiency is low so it isn't going to make a big difference.

You can test it with an insulated shoebox.
See how well a 5watt CFL heats it up compared to a 5watt LED.
You will see that it doesn't matter that a LED is better at converting energy into light, the light ends up becoming heat energy anyway.

I love my cobs I use but I if I can get a better spread and possible better yield from the 315 lec, I want to give them a shot, watt for watt do you think a 300w cob can out yield a 315 consistently and what is using cobs advantage over the 315 lec? The main advantage I thought cobs had (HEAT) I misunderstood lol and if I can make my room more efficient by using 2 315'x covering a 3x6 or 2 300 watt cobs covering a 4x4 I have to get as efficient with electrical use as possible and I will need an extra light if I run led

The advantage of cobs is that it can put out the same amount of light with less wattage.
So for example a current gen 600 watt COB panel can give the same yield as a 1000 watt HPS. So 400 watt heat savings.(and electricity)
But if you use 1000 watt of COBs to replace a 1000 watt HPS, you will have the same electricity bill and same heat but more yield.

The 300 watt COBs should give a bigger yield than 315 LEC.
LEC has UVB in its specturm so the weed will most likely have more THC under it though.

Also HPS and LEC have IR, which will raise leave temperature, so the room temp needs to be lower. With COB's, there is no IR, this will allow you to run a much warmer room with no ill effects also increasing your electrical savings. I run my room in the low 80*.

Is there a uvb light to match the possible potency increase of the lec to add to my led grow ?

I have ran up to 84 in mid summer and they seem to do alright under cobs

not true by a farshot, cause a lec gives a much higher heat on the plants as hotspots because of high intesity..
eventually its the same watts gives same watts of heat after its sucked out of the tent for ex but inside the tent the hotspots of the lightbeams of lec gives the plants more heat stress

and 250 w of 3000-6500k softdriven cobs from cree cxb series atleast the topbins, beats the shit out of 315 w lecs in par pr watt that is the most imporant, plus check price and Lifetime on lec,lol its a foul to go for if you are enviromentally awake too and will probably last 10 years or more driven at 25-33% efficiency
