VIPARSPECTRA led vs cob kit

One last thing .... I am partial to ViparSpectra - i am running a panel and it IS pulling its weight . I am flowering 2 ICEBOMB ( bomb seeds ) in flower and it is doing very well . So as far as a cheaper led ... It is working . It has a more Bluish / White spectrum compared to Mars ... I used Mars for a couple of years (600/900 model ) UNTIL I " SEEN " the light sort to speak.

ViparSpectra is fully capable ( if setup properly - both switches on ) and reflective surfaces ... Heat is nominal ( 75-84° typical for 12/12 run )
My Quantum board ( mars conversion ) runs at a incredible 68° ( 18/6 cycle ).
Leaves are either up and pointed to light or horizontal to it .....

Proof is right here ... It will grow good bud for what it is . No complaints.

ViparSpectra is probably the only panel LED company that's fair and worth what you pay for. At least somewhat. It's not horribly overpriced like Kind, it won't fall apart in the middle of your first or second cycle like Mars, and it's capable of getting you a QP with their 450w models.

Looking healthy, but you could have saved money and upped your yield if you bought a HPS or CMH light , i think pulling weight is subjective to the competition. I am not impressed. A single "600" or "900" watt light should literally be harvesting pounds ,looks like that's just a few ounces. And from your picture it looks like there is a massive hot spot right under that light and hardly any light in the corners. The only reason people recommend these lights is because they are inexperienced and never grew with other lighting solutions, trust me these are one of the worst options out there, you are better off buying cree led bulbs.

You are correct ... It is probably the " only " one .... Compared to the current mars offerings its pretty obvious which will grow your plants . The other brands - Relandro , Meihizi or some other knock off are way too sketchy even those overpriced Kind lights ,

We all agree that COB , DE lights , and others is the bar to shoot for ... But for getting your feet wet or tight budget ... Vipar is hard to beat for the price. I figure if the plants like it , then why rock the boat.

All those lights you listed are worse than a cheap 600w hps setup and much much more expensive and cover less of an area, produce more heat, and less PAR, i don't know why you keep on with these chinese junk lights. Noobs leading noobs i guess.

Partially agree ... BUT IT relates to grow space that i have ... Since i do not have a spare room or increased space ... I am limited to the tent's dimensions ..... I do not want a high heat ballasted light ... It is not to " impress " anyone ... It is for MY OWN MEDICATING.

I dont get airy ass weed growing with these ... All my harvests are dense and tight.
Why turn my room into a pizza oven ??? Fuck that.
There is NO HOTSPOT in center ... I focused ipad on a dark area and tapped screen to brighter picture. Pictures NEVER truly show what you are seeing standing in front of it.

I have cree and shitcanned them for citizen and vero. I have other tech to throw at them once i finish these. HPS will be and is currently an old tech .... There is currently a side by side QUANTUM BUILD ( 550w ) vs 1000w Hid ... Which will show that " bulbs " are history.

Yeah but blurple lights are also old tech that were over hyped by salesmen, they are less efficient than HID lights and don't have a full spectrum.

Alright guys I need to know if I should get the citi clu048 1212 or 1818? Also what do you think of running 200 watts cob and then put a 300 watt blurple led right in the middle ? Would it help anything ?

I mean, you could. I, personally, wouldn't appreciate the spectrum of the blurple board. Others might.

Alright guys so I was in the middle of purchasing the cobs when my fiancé walked in and saw what I was buying... not a happy camper lol. Apparently spending 300 dollars on grow equipment is a horrible idea... I've tried talking to her and she said she didn't have a problem with the led light bulbs I bought for 70 dollars but she thought spending that kind of money on s light was stupid... now I gotta keep her happy... right now I have 6 14 watt led bulbs with the defusers removed. I grew one plant under it and it grew pretty well being my first plant ever grown ! What do you guys think of buying say 10 more led bulbs and growing in a 3x3 ? That would be 224 watts of power ! Do you think it would work ? Ik it wouldn't be nearly as effective as cobs but I gotta keep her happy haha

seems like a lot of this technology gets outdated fast. HPS was king when T12s were the only other option and monos are only effiecient in 2 or 3 bands.all the current technologies do have a place but if a QP is all you can pull with a viparspectra 450 then they are no better than T5s.CMH and LEDs are still expensive and LEDs seem to become obsolete in a year or two.even the expensive multi band LED grow lights still use the same 4 year old technology used in viparspectra grow lights so the higher cost is unjustified.hard choice for low budget PU growers

tell her it's a lot cheaper than buying weed and will pay for itself in increased yields if she does not use weed than maybe she is not the best choice for you.LED light bulbs are not very effiecient. they were meant to replace CFLs with a slight improvement in efficiency and when I tried them in my house they did not last long.with your limited budget T5s from amazon or E bay may be an option

Lol she smokes just as much as I do haha. She's just more budget minded than I am... I've been talking with her about it and got her stoned now she's becoming more interested after I let her read part of the thread haha

that great. sounds like with a little work she will come around to the right way of thinking. with weed selling for $300 an ounce you will more than pay for your investment with one grow.I paid $92 for a 6 bulb T5HO light on amazon and it gave me 8 ounces of high quality bud and only pulls 273 watts from the wall (ballastwise instant start ballast BF 0.9). once she sees the first harvest she will know you made a good investment

T5s yielded you 8oz !?? I've never really looked into t5s
each type of light requires it's own growing style but once you learn how to grow with it you will get good yields. RM3 is the real T5 expert on this site. check out some of his grows.T5HOs are the best selling consumer grow lights on the market. even walmart sells them.CMH lights are gaining popularity among large scale commercial growers but price and heat along with the annoying habit HID bulbs have of exploding and starting fires in confined spaces make them a poor choice for PU closet grows:lol::lol::lol: got 2 trays that look like this from my last harvest with that light
