veg indoors first

Bigger roots = bigger fruits. I did 300 gallon smart pots last year with FFOF and hit 10 LBs on most containers. Lowest yield was 5 LBS each. Most were started in February, some as early as December. Good soil in huge containers + early veg = big yields.

Also depends if you're in a med state or not.

the critical mass I am finishing up is about 4' tall so im thinking outdoors in good conditions I may could see 6-8' ? Is there a limit to when you can no longer transplant?
You could grow them to a good size in 4 or 5 gal pots then transplant from that into the 20 gal holes I mentioned and they'll blow right up in the sunshine. If you veg at 18/6 make sure that you start reducing the hours of light 15 min every couple days if your timer will do that for a couple weeks before putting them outside so that you are at the same hours as daylight from a half hour after sunrise to a half hour before sunset for your area. Easy to get that info on the web for any spot on earth. If you take an 18hr plant and toss it out into a 14 hour day you could trigger flowering then it'll go back to reveg as the days get longer and set you back a couple weeks at least.

Should rig a shade cloth to cover them with from about 10am - 2pm for the first little while so they don't bleach in the mid-day sun until they get used to it. A week should be good. Hardens them off. Or take them out for a while each day going longer every day for a week.

Good luck and good growing!

thank all of you for your input, this is making me feel really good about what COULD happen. I went overboard on my indoor grows and the added stress of it not being allowed in my state has led me to the decision I need to scale down and do only a few outdoors. I hope to have the strains nailed down I like the best and grow enough to last till the next season. I can always trade with friends if I need a new taste.
This backwards ass country and the false leaders are most likely to source of my anxiety and only want to dump pills on me, and will arrest me for doing something that will actually help. What a load of crap. I have a friend that im close to and he is one of those "it's a gateway" ppl, but he sees how cannabis helps me vs the meds and still holds his views........wtf. Got way off topic, but anyway, looking forward to growing a tree!

I did this last year and had amazing results, up to 5 LB plants. I live in Oregon so for us we want to get them in the ground somewhere between May 1st and July 15th, the earlier the better. I vegged mine also from Jan, but had some indoor root fungus issues so it wasnt a true veg. Plants were about 3 - 4 feet tall when I put them in the ground. I also composted all winter in my grow spot and it wasnt enough, I had to supplement with fertilized by early flower and probably waited to long to do so. Based on last years results I am going to plant my seeds March 1st indoor, May 1st they will go in the ground again.

There is one thing to consider also, I think you can over veg some plants. It doesnt hurt them but I noticed my really big girls were kind of empty in the middle. There was tons of weed on the top and sides and I had to build a cage from them to keep them from falling over. It made me wonder if I could have yield about the same with less veg time and smaller more manageable plants.

1-2 lbs would be pretty good for me I think. I been wondering something, could I use a 55gal drum to grow in?

I was thinking of putting them in the ground. I have a 32'' auger bit that will make it a simple task. just wondering if the plants like deeper roots or to spread out more?

from watching lots of vids and pics it would seem so. I just always wondered was it an easier way is the reason ppl used the shorter/wider planters.

are you sure on that?

as long as the plant is getting 14 hours + light; I don't think you need to drop the light in small amounts. pretty sure you could go straight from 24 hours of light to 14 : 30 and have no issues.

I've done it from 18 and they flowered. When you drop the hours by even a couple at once it's more stressful to the plant. They get into their own rhythm and like an autistic child can throw a tantrum when it's disturbed. Then you got to wait for them to reveg and lose a couple weeks of growth getting back on track.

You grow a plant now under 24 hours light then toss it out when it gets to 14.5 outside and report back then.

il give it a shot; growing from seed so it might lead to more stability . i am sure it would lead to ugly stretching; never thought it would induce flowering though. will see

also; what do you think about reverting from 24 hour to 14 before they sex?

They will still flower I imagine. Would take a little longer but some people sprout seeds under 12/12 and they flower.

Try these things out. I've done dozens of experiments over the years to see for myself what happens but this particular experiment doesn't really interest me all that much.

so the best idea I have is top it several times and train it then put it out late spring and hope for a monster bush. Going by the advise, I will wait later to start it
