promised updates. I have the User Interface working well. Now I am working on the rule developments. I have most of the rules developed, but I ned to test and evaluate them next. I am currently working on the status update process for scheduled tasks, such as lighting, watering, air controls, etc. Outside temperatures are gathered from local weather stations and provided for local use. No outside sensors are required to get current temperature and humidity, as well as other weather data available freely. namaste

Awesome, I've been messing around with ESP8266 and Micropython (Sonoff = ESP8266 + AC/DC + Relay) but been having trouble getting a working websocket working due to my lack of skills with html/networking. Looks like there are already tons of projects out there with OpenHAB + ESP8266/Sonoff, so I will stop trying to reinvent the wheel here. Thanks!

. I am not going to reinvent the wheel, but I am going to make it better. I am trying to decide the bst way forward from here. I am going to be t4sting some sonoff modules over the next couple of months. I am waiting for a few flavors https://www.itead.cc/blog/sonoff-esp8266-reprogramming-part-1-control-mains-from-anywhere one is the TH10/16 with DHT22 connector for temp/humidity input via wifi and relay controls via wifi with a modified sonoff. the sonoff has a relay rated at 10a and approved ROHS compliant. I am looking to take the output from the internal relay to power a bank of relays connected to the sonoff vice using a dumb wifi relay switch. It is doable, I have seen it already.

I am currently testing the rules portion of the software, I am mostly happy with the UI but still a few bugs in classic UI I have to resolve or figure out why.

So to make this system plug and play, I am thinking,

The system has three zones. A single zone has schedule control for lights, recirculating and exhaust fans, Hydro and Flood & Drain, humidifier, heater, ac, venting, and co2. a total of 10 devices times three zones. That is a total of 30 plus programmable devices. The device cost is about $8 plus S&H x 27 = $216 the TH16 is $12 x 3 = $36 about $250 outlay for just wifi devices. A Raspberry Pi 3+ $35, a USB power control $15, SATA 250MB HDD $20, about $320 total outlay cost, excluding code and time.

A single zone system would cost about $110 in devices and $100 in hardware. perhaps a better price/cost ratio. A single zone would handle a veg and bloom capacity in one zone by reprogramming the light schedule from 18/6 to 12/12 with far red capability to program as well.

thoughts and ideas?

I'm running my light scedule with Idevices and app. One of the most important things to me is maintaining temps and humidity and keeping them balanced as the outside temps change.

Thanks. The system is setup to gather local temp and humidity from weather stations outside and dht22 inside to monitor indoor temp and humidity. If you have ac or dehumidifier connected and set to auto the system will turn on and off as needed along with control over intake air as well.

Could you explain why you need temp and humidity data for outside your grow?

It would seem to me that regardless of what the readings are outside the tent, you would just want to hit your target inside the temp.

Or do you use ambient air inflow assuming it will help you hit your target instead of using active (AC, DH, Heater etc)?

Hypothetically if your target RH was 10% and outside its 30% but inside the grow it is currently 50%, would you bring in air until you reached ambient (30%) and then kick on the DH to get it from 30 to 10%? Same principle would apply for heating.

If you know your outside temp and humidity you can pre condition your air; add/subtract humidity or temp based on your needs. If it's hot outdoors bringing in hot air to cool things down will not work. Just good info to have available. The info arrives based on latitude and longitude.

I reprogrammed one already, took a while to figure out the connectivity. Once the sonoff is reprogrammed you can use your phone and scan for it like any wifi device, log in and setup the parameters for it so log into a selected wifi router. After the sonoff logs onto the wifi server it is available world-wide on the internet or just t you, or to openhab, as well. it also is programmed to act a switch you can turn on/off manually if so desired.

I am working on this project for folks just like you. when i get it debugged, I will let you know and you can find me at GrowGreen I will be providing units with Raspberry Pi3+ , sonoffs, and esp8266's running banks of relays and controlling hvac and co2 with automation and schedules for all aspects. just hang in there. I am also looking at an ip camera for live updates, :O hang in there help is on the way. I will be packaging the system similar to the GrowGreen Led Controller. I have those resources top create cases and systems.

Update. I have been experimenting with various esp8266 devices, sonoff and esp8266 development boards. I found for my situation to use flasher-nodemcu to flash an operating system from a custom build including dht, wifi, pwm, pwc, mqtt, usart, and a total of 12 components, along with using luauploader to upload lua code.
This grouping of openHAB, mqtt, and esp8266 devices works together with proven results.
I am now working on a modular approach of single zone system that can convert from veg to bloom with schedule changes, to a dual zone with both veg and bloom capability.
A single zone requires six relays with six discrete outlets for lights, fans, water, co2, and temp/humidity controls, adht22 temp/humidity sensor and an optional ip camera.
I am starting final coding and testing of the six relay unit this next week with dht22.

Now that's what I am talking about! A central control box for each room, controlled by a web page or phone app that also gathers data! Damn @VegasWinner you are about a year a head of me and what I want to do!!!
