AK47 x WW First Grow

Hey guys,
So let me start off by saying this is my first grow ever. I mean I have tried it once but it didn't work out and the plant died within the first 4 days. I sort of took a break after that. I decided that I would try and get back into it.
I did a lot of research to build a grow box that would fit my needs. I had to build it from scratch because I couldn't find a cabinet with the exact dimensions I needed. Here are some pictures when I started to build the cabinet. The dimensions are 2x2x4 not exactly maybe a little smaller but yea. I'm going to be growing Greenbud Seeds White Widow x AK47 Early version. Does anyone know what that means early version? I'm going to be using a SolarStorm440
it took me 2 months to build this thing although I do work so that kind of got in the way.

After building the main frame and the outside of the box I sealed the whole inside of it with construction adhesive (the gorilla glue one to be exact). I then let that dry for a day with a fan blowing towards it. After letting it dry I sealed it again with silicone. I originally had the square inner frame but I took out one of the front 2x2 pieces. Originally I was going to put a separate chamber for my light to cool it but it's an led so I changed my mind. After sealing it with silicone and letting it dry I applied foil tape. Hvac tape it's what they use for ducting. This tape sticks to anything really good tape.

I really wanted to make a thread on a diy for this cabinet but I just couldn't find the time. I assume if anyone wanted to know how to build it they could just do it by studying the build. I used mdf for the outside panels and the door it's expensive. You can use particle board if you wanted to go the cheaper route. All together not including the light and seeds I probably spent $200-$230 seems like a lot but I got to customize it to how I liked it plus a cabinet this size would be close to $100 new. There charging almost $3,000 for super closet like wth?? That's crazy anyway

After sealing and putting the tape I lined it with the... I forgot what it's called poly something. I just know the guy at the store told me it's really good stuff.

Don't mind the top ducting in venting that I thru to the attic through ducting to outside.
I used an atrium grate and some pantyhose with some activated carbon for a carbon filter.
IMG_0373.JPG IMG_0379.JPG IMG_0500.JPG

Here the light I'm using
IMG_0235.JPG IMG_0241.JPG

I got it for cheap around $300 from someone on Ioffer I think? Can't wait to use the uvb. Man this light runs a little hot actually I just think the cabinet is too small for the light what do you guys think? My temps are around 84-96 and sometimes 100 I tried passive intake but it just didn't work as well as this 100cfm duct fan and the other is a antec 120mm of fan up too for outtake is a 100 com duct fan. Trying to be stealth so I have it on a fan controller turned down only a little but the plant loves it I guess. I have a fan blowing towards it. some germination pics along with the progress as if now.

Using mykos I heard it was good

One of those seeds was hso blue dream but I think it was a dud I had it germinating for 7 days I just gave up this seed sprouted within 36 hours.

Day 4

Day 7 which is today 2/26/17
IMG_0498.JPG

There's a little brown at the bottom of the stem. And if you see on today's pic the leaves are curled is it because of my temps?? I ordered a 240 cfm duct fan to help with the temps my exhaust is 100 cfm anyone suggest a better fan?I'm looking for stealth I have a fan controller.

I'm using fox farm ocean forest. How does the plant look so far. I know I should have probably added more soil in the solo cup but I'm going to when I transplant. I was going to use a 5 gal for transplant but I think I'm going with a 3gal bucket. Anyone have any suggestions for a 3 gal bucket. So yea let me know what you guys think.

Thanks I'm going to take some pics of her progress today in a few I will post it
I have the solar flare from that company as well. It's the 220 model. You'll need at LEAST 18inches from canopy and light. I tried the clw solar flare 220 in a 2x2x4 tent and i ran out of room in flower. Buds got bleached.

I would get a tent if you can and for heat all you need is a good inline fan and a controller

Good luck

Yea I didn't want her to close too the light. They say 24" but I'm sure you can push it a little. It's a really nice light but it does put out some heat from the top exhaust of it.

Well I transplanted her into her 5gal pot and I drilled some holes before hand just so the excess water can pour out. Sittiing in a little plastic Rubbermaid container. She's been in here for a few hours and she's already living up. I added Mykros from Xtreme gardening heard good things about it.

I know my soils looks kind of dry at the top but I barely stuck my first knuckle in the pot and it's wet. I know it's a big bucket and I puta good amount of water. I don't want to over water you know?

Your def over watering. Go and lift the pot right now, feel how heavy it is. Wait for 2 days and lift it again. If its still pretty heavy, its still pretty wet. Once it feels relatively light, you're ready to water. Trust me, your instincts will be able to tell. This is how I learned when I was in soil anyway

Yea your right man the pot is really heavy. I'll let her go a few days and soak up that water. Hey practice makes perfect iguess

Looking really good dude, its good to see people still building their own spaces for their needs. Really good job for your first grow man keep up the good work :)

Before your next grow, order some space blankets from Ebay for 8 bucks and use one to wallpaper the inside of the cabinet. It's 99% reflective mylar. It will do a MUCH better job of increasing your usable light.

You will not be able so sustain a healthy plant if your tempature bounces to 100 and is often in high 80s and 90s without a LOT of extra effort. Hope you are able to get a handle on your heat issue!! Otherwise, looks very nice. When done correctly and with care, I love the DIY stuff. Me and my pops built an awesome drying/curing chamber with both a humidifier and dehumidifier and a bottom chamber to slow dry all our product at the perfect RH. Works perfectly regardless of the ambient RH and will perfectly dry (without overdrying) our buds so we just pop em in jars with a perfect success rate.. anyway.. best of luck! Life's a garden, dig it.

yea man I love building things from scratch. Something to do in my spare time. My heat is fluctuating but it's mostly staying at 91 like damn. I know that's bad but when I'm home I open the door. When I do this my temps go down too 81 with and RH of 40%

Ugh those twisted leaves shitty humidity. I'm only allowed to grow in this cab in the certain space I have due to stealth reasons

Put a small bowl of water in the cabinet with the plant to help get the humidity up a bit. Several small cups would work as well if you don't have room for the bowl. With that heat, it'll evaporate pretty quickly and you might get up to 45% or better. Any port in a storm.

I'm only allowed to grow in this cab in a certain space I have due to stealth reasons. I'll be moving in about 6 months and when that happens I'm going to use my led lights I got off Craigslist. They were made back then by Grow stealth.
They legit pull almost 600 true watts at the wall. It's like 550 W or something like that. There called quantum 600 pro bloom and there made to replace a 1000 w hid. I was able to talk the guy down to $600 for all 3 so $200 a light. Here's some pics
