New Beginnings for Massachussetts and I

Cloth pots offer an interesting challenge for LST. Tried attaching the pipe cleaners to plant markers in the soil last night, but they weren't resistant enough. Today, I'm trying a new approach. Instead of trying to tie the tops down, I'm hanging weights off them ... starting out with 17 grams. It's keeping them bent but will rise with the plant's growth and not cause a split. At day 44 from seed, the plants are finally starting to show daily development. I will probably add a 2nd set of LST ties at 90 degrees from the current ones within a day or 2 to open up even more nodes. I'm finally starting to feel like I'll get to my desired pre-flower height of 14-16" by the end of next week. These should at least double during stretch so that should give me a really nice scrog canopy. I'm going to clone all 5 so I can reproduce any good phenos but I still don't have any cloneable branches.
I'll post more photos later today of the weights prove to be sufficient.
this works great on fabric/cloth pots. it sticks to itself to wrap around branch, then sticks to the cloth pot to hold branch down. can be pulled off and secured tighter as LST becomes more intense. It worked great on my first grow attempt...which, sad to say, ended in an un-timely tragic death due to my cat.

Got this from Senator Jehlen's office this morning

JOINT COMMITTEE ON MARIJUANA POLICY TO HOLD STATEWIDE HEARINGS

(BOSTON) – Today the Joint Committee on Marijuana Policy, chaired by Senator Patricia Jehlen (D-Somerville) and Representative Mark Cusack (D-Braintree), announced details for the four public hearings they will be holding across the state. The hearings will allow the committee to receive testimony from advocates, state officials, municipalities, and the public, among other groups.

The first hearing is scheduled for Monday, March 20th at the State House and will begin at 11:00 AM in rooms A-1 and A-2 with an executive session for the committee to adopt rules, followed by testimony.

Representatives from the following groups have been invited to testify:
- Organizers of ‘Yes on 4’
- Treasurer Deborah Goldberg
- The Department of Public Health
- The Department of Revenue
- The Department of Agriculture
- The Office of Attorney General Maura Healey
- Stephen Crosby, the Massachusetts Gaming Commission Chair

Public testimony will be taken at the conclusion of the invitation portion of the hearing.

Subsequent hearings have been scheduled for the following dates, times, and locations:

- March 27th, 4 PM, West Springfield High School Auditorium
- April 3rd, 11 AM, State House, Rms. A-1, A-2
- April 10th, 4 PM, Shrewsbury High School Auditorium

Members of the public will be invited to testify on issues related to legalized marijuana at each of the four hearings; however, the specific bills being heard at each hearing are still to be determined. Legislation is still being assigned to the committee and agendas are subject to change.
If at all possible, please attend and present info on Tax revenue(Col. is a good start-200 mil. in rev. based on 1.2 bil. in sales) or medicinal values. We are in a fight here to keep from being shot down.

Opinions please? I noticed on auto white widow today that some of her leaf tips are brown.
2 days ago I changed my (2) 42w cfl's to (2) 23wcfl's, raised the lights, and lowered temps and leaf curl (canoe) seems to be gone, but now I see this. mars 300 is 20" away, and (2) 23w cfl's are 4" away from her. Humidity 36, temp 75. Could it be damage from a few days ago before I moved lights up? can damage take a few days to show?

On a brighter note~little auto hubbabubbasmelloscope showed herself today :-)

Tips are showing light burn- they will be fine- had same issue-not from heat, but intensity

thanks. so you just raised up your lights?

I changed out the cfl's to lower watters and raised them up... and also raised up the mars LED a few inches. Not even sure if I even NEED cfl's with the mars, but thought more light was better.

I think the previous "true" 100w from the mars plus the 84w from the cfls may have been to much. will keep my eye on her, AND my new baby :-)

My white widow is the shortest of my plants so it is the furthest from the lights yet it has more burnt tips then any of the others. Must be light-sensitive.

Everyone here seems to be growing fairly common strains. Anyone else interested in exploring off the beaten path for meds?
I'm not brave enough to put that much effort into a strain that's far off the beaten path.

This time I have three strains, White Widow Auto, Northern Lights Auto and Sour Diesel regular. I know they are all very common. I chose them for Speed. Didn't know that the sour diesel was regular. Until something is harvestable, I have to smoke dirt weed and that doesn't help my pain very much.

Next time I will try something different. Misty kush, gorilla bomb and Girl Scout cookies. I'm planning on mainlining them.

Battling a minor case of iron deficiency that started just after the flip, which really means a soil ph issue. My water is really clean at 40 ppm (lab tested), but it has one quick. If I take it out of the tap and measure it, it's 5.9, but if I let it sit out a couple of days it rises to 7.4. It might be dissolved co2 or some other chemistry issue, but it is what it is.

Then after cal mag and other additives, the ph is closer to 6.7.

So I've mixed up a new batch of water/additives (no primary nutes) and ph'd it down. to 5.6. I used it with a minor flush to try to get it good and soaked.

The games we play.

This Bill Would Eliminate The Federal Ban On Marijuana
For decades, marijuana legislation has been a source of consistent stress for stoners across the United States. Many states have loosened pot restrictions in recent years, but weed is still considered a controlled substance by the U.S. government, a discrepancy that has created a judicial grey area with respect to enforcement. Though the Obama administration made marijuana enforcement a lower priority, Attorney General Jeff Sessions has already expressed his intent to crack down on weed-related offenses with greater rigor.

However, a bipartisan bill currently making its way through Congress could restrict the government's ability to punish pot smokers. The bill, which is being referred to as the "Ending Federal Marijuana Prohibition Act of 2017," would remove marijuana from the federal Controlled Substances Act, putting its enforcement in the hands of the states. The act was originally introduced in 2015 by Bernie Sanders, but Virginia's Republican representative Tom Garrett joined Sanders' cause by re-introducing the legislation in late February. The move has since received further support from a handful of other legislators.

In a press release, Garrett explained why he felt compelled to re-introduce the act, citing uneven enforcement, as well as the need for greater autonomy among states: "Statistics indicate that minor narcotics crimes disproportionately hurt areas of lower socio-economic status and what I find most troubling is that we continue to keep laws on the books that we do not enforce. Virginia is more than capable of handling its own marijuana policy, as are states such as Colorado or California."

Garrett isn't unaware of the financial benefits, either. In his statement, he said, the act would "provide a major economic boost to agricultural development in Southside Virginia," and also noted that he intends to introduce further legislation that could kickstart Virginia's nascent marijuana economy. With weed now legally available in Washington, Maine, Nevada, and other states, the bill likely comes as a relief to employers and workers across the country. In 2016, Fortune reported that legal pot is already a multi-billion dollar industry, and it's only growing.

I think you should read the info on the strains I've posted if pain management is your primary concern. I'm still up in the air about my next grow, but it's likely to be either the Platinum Huckleberry Cookies or the CBD Warlock

Wooot. Finished building my flower tent lights. Can paint the Angelina reflectors once I find the paint. The extra ratchet hangars come in tomorrow. (Crossing fingers) Hopefully I can put them up and retire that 1000w energy hog. I can remove one of my variable fans and turn the other way down once all that heat is gone.

OK...please dont bash me for this but:

I understand the point of this article, and am 100% for the feds taking their heads out of their ass. What a wonderful day that would be when MJ is no longer federally illegal. However, I am not a "stoner". Neither is my sick daughter. Neither is my 70yo mother who smokes sometimes for her chronic pain. Good god, I dont even smoke! I am I'm sorry but I take offense to that word being used by the author. We as a percentage of the population need to start talking in regard to ourselves as "citizens who have the god given right, want or need for marijuana". Not "stoners smoking pot and weed". If we want to get out there (by writing articles or contacting our state reps, etc.) and remove the stigma that we are all stoners dancing around like its woodstock, and that marijuana is weed, dope, or pot we need to start referring to it and ourselves as such in a more mature manner and wording. And yes, the federal law does "punish pot smokers" but it also punishes people who use in various forms for medical use, or who grow, like me....its not just smokers who feel the wrath of the feds.

Why dont we have some fun, like a "mass weird seed solo cup grow off" or something? Im liking the CBD-Enriched God on your list. They say high CBD is good for Parkinsons and tremors (my brother suffers from severe familial tremors)
