DIY with Quantum Boards

Purchased my 260w kit last night. Almost bought another board but wasn't sure if the driver would handle it. My first post, will be first grow and first LED DIY. BTW HLG, whoever takes care of your IG was super nice. I asked a question and was answered within an hour. I was the guy who took a night off work to get one ha ha. Cheers and good luck to all.

The S5 really aren't any faster to get either way. We didn't expect the demand to grow so quickly. Remember these have only been available for 4 months and they took a couple of those months to catch on. We are adjusting as quickly as possible. It's not personal or high horseish we are honestly trying as hard as we can and honestly feel bad that we can't make everyone happy.
get that out of your head steve. you will never make everyone happy, and trying to do it will make your hair fall out early lol.been in biz for myself for 30 years and i used to try to do that, make every customer happy.in reality if 95% are happy enough to spread your name around to the point you are way too busy to keep up,your doing it right.thats my motto anyhow.
what did people expect when everyone on youtube and instagram is talking about the quantum craze lol.i told robin last night he was gunna break the internet and it sounds like they almost did that .you wont find another company that ships as fast as robin does on a consistant basis.there is a simple fix, somebody loan these guys about 150k and they can order enough boards to last 24 hours haha.

Sorry I don't have that plug
135 w kit was pulling 150w max at wall when I tested.
Thanks, but it would be cheaper for me to get a QB304/slate 2 and source the driver locally rather then have you ship a kit since the driver is heavy and ramps up the shipping cost, i'll have to attach a cord that fits my socket anyways and i plan on leaving the driver outside my tent so the contents of the kit are not needed really, plus i like the slightly higher efficiency of the QB304.

so do you think HLG-120H-C1400A would be able to drive the QB304 at 150w? i'm not sure if i understand this datasheet correctly:
Screen Shot 2017-04-06 at 10.46.24 AM.png

if i get this right it can provide 150w of power at 1400mA at a voltage of 54V-108V but has an over voltage protection between 120-130V which mean it can ramp up to 120 without issue?

The Chart from the QB304 suggests that if i run it @ 1400mA it would draw 111-115V, so even though the HLG-120H-C1400A is rated at 151W with a voltage of 54-108V it should be able to over voltage to the 111-115V that the board will draw at 1400mA?

did i get this right? forgive me i'm by no means an electrician..:hump:

Some people having been waiting and missed out as the last 2 shipments sold out in minutes. This was not expected! These lights are a phenomenon right now and the guys never expected these to get this hot this fast! It was expected this batch would last a while, not sell out in minutes! Sounds to me like the guys need to start thinking about these boards by the thousands, not hundreds lol!

And I bet they took a little break from busting their asses for us, to do a little victory dance when they sold out again so quick they blinked and missed it!

Stuff like this happens in every industry. The QBs run cool, use less power and put out amazing light at a good price. Their popularity should be expected and in the short term, demand will exceed supply.

You can see this in cars, trucks, guns, real estate in some areas, some toys at Christmas and other products.

I am sure Robin and Stephen are doing their best.

First post, signed up for this thread actually.

I ordered 4 288 boards/slate 1's and an
HLG-320H-54B to drive them.

This will be in a 3'x3' tent, single plant scrog. I wanted 4 boards for better spread, I will dial them down to probably around 250-270w I think. This will be my first DIY light and 3rd grow, first two grows were with mars led's. If this proves to be a good setup I will build another for flower tent #2.

Hoping to be much more effiecient with these guys.

Also another note, I emailed HLG and got a reply back from Robin over the weekend. They seem to have great customer service. Not sure why the hostility towards these guys, seems like they are trying to fufill orders as best they can. Pretty neat of them to bring a product like this to the DIY crowd if you ask me.

There is always some one who thinks they know how to run your company better than you . I think Michael & Robin do a tremendous job helping people and getting new products as well as testing. Supply is out of their hands they can only go with what the manufacturer supplies . In my honest opinion I feel they go above and beyond for all their customers you can't please everybody all the time there is always going to be a cry baby somewhere that can't deal with it getting what the
Want all the time. Remember patience is a virtue

dont forget theres prob 3 or 4 large chinese companies ordering mass quantity of those led chips to copy hlg's design and then companies like nextlight ect all wanting to get those chips so unless you have the funds to order 50,000+of those leds prepare to wait way longer than the big boyz :eyesmoke: shoulda got me some samsung stocks, dang it :wall:

Am I correct to think a 4000k will make a shorter more dense plant? Which would make nicer looking tomato and pepper plants for peoples gardens also.
