None of your "jobs" or "workweeks" or "productivity" actually make the world a better place or contribute to improving society meaningfully. People in here talking about how the sky will fall if someone collects welfare need to get some nuance in their analyses. Your "hard work" doesn't benefit anyone who doesn't hold significant stock in the company you work for. That is who you are enriching, your employer.

You're right, everyone should quit their jobs. That would absolutely make society better.

There is no need for doctors or farmers or teachers or construction workers or utility workers. Nope, all completely useless occupations to a civilized society.

No. The banksters don't want the Fed to print money because they don't want to see inflation.
In fact, that's why the Fed is even more raising interest rates, because of supposed inflationary pressure from low unemployment.

Our government is much more interested in lining the pockets of millionaires than ensuring that average people have a job.

Yes government is a tool for lining the pockets of unscrupulous people.

Although not all of them are rich.

However, "jobs creation" is not and shouldn't be a government function. If you had a basic grasp of what a free market is (not a crony market) I could explain why that is a bad idea.

Gee, I guess that "stimulus package" thing didn't work out then. Lol.

That's why I'm self-employed

Did you happen to notice the word "meaningfully"? Employees in those fields are easily replaced and even doctors in our society (which I will refrain from describing as 'civilized') aren't much more than prescription writers for the profits of Big Pharm. Thanks for distorting my meaning though in order to leap to a fallacious conclusion and then assigning it to me. Please learn how to read before you reply to written arguments.

There is a discussion going on about UBI and this idea, a 4 day working week, is another that seems to be gaining support in some parts of the world/political spectrum. I can think of a few positives about this idea but not really any negatives. Obviously that doesn't mean that there aren't any negatives but I'd be interested to hear opinions.

:peace: :leaf: :blsmoke:
My company already does this because our culture 'gets it'.

On a slightly different tack, a question I've been meaning to ask. You guys in the US have drugs testing by many employers in some States. What happens in the States where recreational weed is legal?

I have to say though, I'm absolutely amazed that people stand for having their bodies tested by an employer. Wouldn't happen in the UK. Partly cos so many would fail all the time!
30% of America is the religious right and even though there is supposed to be separation of church and state- mmmmmmmm not so much, really. Right now, only 12% approves of repealing EVERYONE'S health..this is going to affect more than just those on Obamacare or Medicaid which by the way 70M people are on. We all get to suffer for the evangelical white supremacist who can't bear a black man's legislation.

How my company handles it? We are global. They don't drug test us. How could they? The Colorado rep would get a pass because of legality but not the rep from a non-legal state? weed stays in your system 30 days..what if you were to holiday there? No way to standardize it therefore it would be discriminatory in nature.

It's nobody's business what you do on your own time, either!

Hey speak for yourself buddy. I take pride in making the world a less smelly and dirty place. I most certainly I'm not enriching others without first enriching self. I'm all for those who need a helping hand to receive it, but not for lazy shits who can work but select not to. Those should not receive any handouts

Who are the 'lazy shits who select not to'?

Someone who sits on their ass all day long rolling quarters?

Well why would they have to sit and roll quarters when you have a machine that can do it ??:dunce:

The lazy asses who have no drive and sit and wait on a fucking check while they are fully capable of seeking work or even their own business. I'm cool with helping those who NEED help, not so with lazy fucks. Are you a lazy fuck ? and no I don't mean that literally. I mean do you have hustle and get up and go.

You contribute to the loss of laundry jobs by employing machines. This cancels enough of your contribution to make it much less meaningful. Also, those "lazy shits" receive (in net) nothing from you. By and large, your tax dollars fund war and conquest on a far greater scale than they do the social safety net. At least some of the money spent by welfare recipients comes back to laundromats and almost all of it stays in the economy.

Get over it, pride is a vice.

It's all about lining the pockets of Corporate Companies no matter what Political Party you vote for but they have voters thinking they can make a change. Farcical.

What type of check? Are you sure you're not still living in the 80s and stereotyping others?
