Root Rot

After Irma and 5 days without power, thought my plants survived the ordeal. Now I'm fighting a new battle, root rot.

I just realized this when I pull out a dying plant and saw the brown roots. Lost 3 plants so far, all the same issues, not a single white root.

I have 5 plants left, 4 weeks of 12/12, I suspect they all have root issues, to what degree, I dont know. But they seem to be hanging in there. Bud growth seems to have stalled.

Is there a chance they'll be able to recover from root rot? I've added hygrozyme to my nute.

Any ideas in fighting root rot?

Or start over?

Thanks

sorry for all of your losses bro. scrap these and begin again. You'll put so much time into them only to see they wont finish right anyways. Its possible to clone them if genetics are important and reveg. better fortune this time around

Ty brother

That's what I thought. I dont want to waste any more time if the plant wont be able to recover fully.

alternatively you could keep some and prove me wrong hopefully. any time I messed up anything in flower, the girl never was finished properly/repairable(to my standards), except maybe if I revegged to health, but that takes longer than a new clone so... good luck

Damn bro

You must be reading my mind. lol

Partly, I got some nice colas going, kind of a waste to chop them off now.
Partly, it's a challenge. New problem, new solution maybe

My thinking is I'm gonna baby 3 of them (ones with the nice colas). I'll have them in 200 watts of lights (50 watts per sq ft, minimum photosynthesis) and raise my humidity to say 65-70. I'm aiming for low plant transpiration to give the plants a chance to regrow the roots.

I would rinse the roots in H2O2 solution and remove the damaged areas... They won't finish strong but they will finish..Good luck!
What would be the ratio of h202 solution? Wont hygrozyme do the same job? I'm kind of hesitant to use h202 due to claim by other growers that it's damaging to the plant.

Yes your hygrozyme will do the job... Just swirl your roots around and it will remove the dead stuff and help re-growth..
You may need to change solution a couple times.. keep me posted..

hydrogen peroxide will only remove the dead tissue from the root mass, it won't damage healthy roots, unless you use it way too strong. i've found 30 ml per gallon of the 3% stuff you get at the store won't hurt anything, swish the roots around, let them sit in it for 10-15 minutes, then rinse them off under the tap good. the dead growth will be washed away, along with almost anything living in your roots. hygrozyme will dissolve dead tissue, so it can be absorbed by your plants, it won't do anything to the pythium. you need to either run h2o2 or something like hydroguard, to get rid of the pythium. h202 will kill anything living in your water, if you use it properly, while hydroguard is actually an organism thats harmless to your plants but will out-compete and starve any harmful organisms in your system.some people use pool shock or bleach instead of h2o2, but i tried that and didn't like it

H202 FTW it's the only shit I use. My roots stay Pearl white from start to finish. I would definitely read the recommendations on the bottles. But light is right! I run 5gal hydro and I will typically pull the net pot out and place the plant in a dry bucket and add a cap of H202. Allowing the aeration to mix it all up so there's no concentration. Then put the net pot back. Typically smaller problems can clear overnight. But yours should still improve overnight.

I did use Roger recommended solution and also I kept using hygrozyme every feeding.

Sorry to hear about your troubles.
Root rot is the main reason I went to coco. I did flood and drain in hydroton for years and ran a bunch of DWC as well. Most things went just fine and I was very happy but every now and then the root rot would show up. It just got to be too much of a hassle. I don't have the time to baby plants. Changing out reservoirs and all that stuff. Now I grow in coco with blumats for irrigation. One reservoir to fill and since it doesn't get recirculated or have roots sitting in it constantly it never gets funky with organic matter.
I hope you at least get your girls to the finish line and end up with some quality bud. Good luck.

Sorry but why is this in advanced?? Other than your root rot problem is advanced beyond fixing?!
