Welcome to my second grow journal. Please feel free to leave comments if you want to.

In my first grow journal I grew out six KushBerry plants from PeakSeedsBC but they weren’t what I was looking for as far as flavour goes. They were potent but seriously lacked flavour and smell.

In this grow and possibly some of the others that follow it, I will be primarily growing to find something special, something worth keeping and growing again and again.

I will be growing in my 4x4 tent and using a 1000w Fusion bright MH for Veg. I will upgrade to a Hortilux 1000w HPS for flowering. I used a Fusion bright HPS last grow and felt it didn’t give my plants the correct spectrum, too much red and orange. I’ve never seen a HPS that orange/red in the past. I will be hanging the lights with my new free ratchet hangers from Unit Farm :p. Thanks Unit Farm!

I will also be changing from Remo Nutrients to Greenleaf Nutrients “Mega Crop”. I have never considered running a single part nutrient line before but I entered a draw and won a big bag of the stuff so I decided to see if it will give my plants everything they need. Hopefully it does and I can quit buying so many different bottles of nutrients and additives in the future. Thanks Greenleaf Nutrients.

I will also be ditching the hempy pots too. I found that the three gallon pots were just too much maintenance needing to be watered everyday or my plants would wilt. I will be going with 5 gallon air pots with a sunsuine mix/perlite combo. I’m hoping to only have to water every second day.

I will be growing 15 plants from seed so I should end up with about 8 females give or take a couple by the time I have sexed them. The strains came from a fellow grower on this site who offered them to me to try out. I have high hopes with these seeds as I have seen many pictures and reviews from other growers here. The strains are going to be 5x Blue Ripper, 5x Blue Harley and 5x Blue Ripper x Blue Pyramid (not sure if that last one has been named or if it’s just going to stay as a cross). Thanks for the seeds!

Hmmmm...... free ratchet hangers, free food, free genetics, should be a cheap grow! It wasn’t my intention to get these freebies but I do appreciate them! Thanks.

So I’m working away from home but my awesome wife that doesn’t even like marijuana has started my seeds this morning. (:

I am really hoping to find a keeper mother plant from this round. I want some stability to my grows and growing from seed every time isn’t a great way to achieve any sort of stabilization or get predictable results.

My goal is to have three moms/three strains and grow 12 clones on a four plant rotation to keep a steady supply of marijuana.

I am very excited to see what the blue ripper does. I have seen that strain showcased on a few RIU grow journals and it always looks impressive. I think the breeder did a great job with that one and it has me very excited to see what I can do with it.

Subbed! - lol Sounds great, new strains, new nutes, new medium, new pots, you got balls - lol

BTW: You are literally the first tester for the Blue Ripper x Blue Pyramid (F1's) so it's a "lets see what's in that box of chocolates" grow. Have a couple of names in mind but don't name them until at least the second cross to see if it's worthwhile breeding on. It is a killer Blue Ripper F1 male (original F1 rks male for Blue Ripper, Blue Harley, and Waldo's Harley) crossed with a killer Blue Pyramid (Pyramid Seeds) female pheno. Both have some common genetics in Blueberry, both have skunky undertones and have produced triple-bagger phenos so could be some very tasty/hashy phenos in there.

Good luck with the grow!

Lol, you forgot new light. I’m just going back to what I know. I’ve used hortilux and sunshine mix/perlite in the past and I always had awesome results. Also it’s so much easier to find here than coco.

The only thing that concerns me are nutrients I will be trying. However I did enter the contest and I feel I owe Greenleaf Nutrients a fair and honest run to see how their product stacks up against the multi part nutrients I have used in the past. Who knows, it could become my go to nutrients if everything turns out well. I really like the idea of using salts rather than watered down liquids, this could be a major change in my perspective towards nutrients and how I use them.

Lol, didn't catch the lighting change, nice then this is back to your roots with a nutes change up. I'll be interested in your thoughts on the GN, if it's readily available here and works I'd try it. Simple is good. I use AN A&B only and very low feeding schedules. I'd tried Jack's Citrus feed last year for my outdoor and veg, worked great, would have moved to it if it were available here but with shipping costs it was easier and cheaper to just stick with the AN A&B. Simplicity is my main concern, I don't feed a lot and don't think they need it, nor am I interested in spending 1/2 my garden time mixing up concoctions/additives. A&B at ~400 ppm every 2nd or 3rd feed does it for me. Similar medium to yours but I cut my soil with Pro-mix instead of the perlite. The mix doesn't need anywhere near the ppm's I see thrown around for soilless mediums like coco and the like.

What's availability of this GN line? May pick some up and try it.

GN said they don’t have a distributor in Canada yet but I think they are looking into it. I think it would be in their best interest to Get one with the upcoming legalization in Canada next year.

Sounds like Jack's, only they have no plans to be here when I asked them about it last year :(

I know we Canadians do tend to get the shaft on so many things as far as shopping, product options and especially on shipping costs.

Growlights.ca has Canada wide free shipping on orders over $100. I wish more would follow their lead. I have ordered from them and was pretty happy with the service and products. I know I sound like I’m trying to promote them but their free shipping saved me a fortune when I first ordered all of my gear from them back in June.

Yeah for sure, one of the few things that should improve for us though when legalization comes. The shipping is the killer, I'd give them a shot if they have anything I'm shopping for.

I got the inline fan from them. I was going to get the 1000w ballast and the free MH + HPS bulb that came with it but decided to shell out the extra cash on a real ballast vs a cheap Chinese one that is re-branded. I did not want RFI at all and the ballast i got guaranteed shielding. The bulbs that come with it dont seem like they were any good either, same rebranding and probably the same crappy iPower or Vivosun. I ended up USHIO Gro Lux MH and I going to order eye hortilux sometime today or tomorrow for HPS (flowering). Found a source that comes out under 100 for the bulb delivered. Anything local is 150-200 for the damn bulb. I am surprised there is only 2 damn hydro stores in this city of over a million especially with legalization coming.

Where are you getting the hortilux from? I need to order one too. Lol.

Edit: I just checked amazon.ca $95 and free delivery. Lol.

yup that is it. if you are in no rush (its 1-2 day shipping) just keep it in the cart and check on it daily. The cart will tell you of the price changes ( I think they are basing it on exchange rates maybe?) Friday it was at $91 and its been bouncing 93-95 all week.

I saw one for $55 on ebay but it sounded too good to be true. Seller was selling cloths and other garbage and had 4 to sell, I asked what was wrong and he said they are new. still didn't take the risk lol.

yea that's usually why i order from amazon.ca and only items with free shipping unless absolutely necessary lol, i got the 230g sample bag of megacrop and i think it was OK but basically by the time i dialed in the dosages i had ran out of nutrients, back to maxibloom for now

That's exactly why I want a local supply of it, if I switch I want it available when needed and not have to pay through the nose for shipping and the 230g sampler is not enough to test properly. I have been talking to a Canadian salts manufacturer, they've been quite responsive and gave me the name of a local greenhouse op that stocks their products. She said if they don't stock the product they can order it for me. I may grab a bag of each of these to test properly both in veg and flowering.
