Kandy kush man sounds tasty.more than 5-6 is pushing it in a 4x4
I know what you mean, overcrowding could cause problems but my theory here is to create a fairly dense canopy like a scrog only without taking the time to fill a net and then flower. I think I'll likely flower them about half way through the veg cycle and top and tie them to keep them low and wide rather than let them get tall.

We'll see, I might kill half of them for being out of practice, so 9 may give me a safety margin if nothing else!

So a couple of votes for Kandy, so that's in. I may leave Skywalker as I think it may be a leggy one (if I remember right) and I probably won't be using a net to keep things low this time...

Thinking of going down the LED route.... Something equivalent to a 250W HID. Any recommendations? I don't want to build anything, just want to plug and play, and not stress in summer trying to keep temps down.

I was looking at the Mars II 400, it's within my anticipated budget, but some growers get so emotive when Mars-Hydro is mentioned!

Most people will say no matter the light 250 watts is 250 watts so youll get the same amount of heat no matter what light it is. Ive never used mars hydro but i do have a viparspectra and it is pretty good in veg i just wouldnt use it in flower because its only 140 true watts. The true watts is what you want to look out for when it comes to leds especially the blurple ones. I know you dont want to build anything yourself but i honestly would look into quantum boards or cobs. Alot more bang for your bucks when compared to the mars hydro or viparspectra blurple leds. Whats your budget?

Cheap. Around €150 or so, that's why the Mars II looks appealing. If only being a stay at home mom came with a wage packet...

What kind of heat do you get from your viparspectra?
That Spud Guy is correct, watts are watts and is heat. 250w of cheap LED isn't going to beat 250w of HPS and you can air cool HPS.

If you want a proper LED, buy a 260w Quantum board kit, gives about the same light as 500w hps (if such a thing existed)
Horticultural lighting group. $325.
They are super efficient.

Sorry for not going back through thread to find the answer, but do you not run a cool tube or hood?

I know what you mean can be a cunt alright. I have mine in the tent now and hotest the tent gets to is about 18c. Budget of 150 is tight but im sure you could get something half decent but i doubt you could get anything with 250watts true power but i could be wrong.

No bods @coreywebster, now that's its gotten colder again, temps are good so I haven't gone the cool tube/hood route... I'm just thinking ahead, always thought leds were cooler than hids, which is why I'm interested in them. Plus bigger yields, that's ALWAYS the no 1 priority, lol! My space is only 2x2 though, the light you mentioned would leave my girls sizzling.

Cheers @ThatSpudGuy , I know what you're saying re budget vs quality. I'm probably just better off waiting till I have the bobs instead of splurging on a half assed "bargain".

Of course if I win the lotto I'll splash out and convert a big ass warehouse where I can spend my days growing and toking and sharing the the green for free... :bigjoint:

Yeah that light is for a 2x4 so it would look funny poking out the sides of your 2x2.
This would do you nicely and be cooler than 250w hps.

Perhaps something to save up for in the future.

At least your managing at the moment, plenty of winter still to come too..

Just doing some house hunting on Daft.

There is an old farmhouse near me for sale.
It's 180k with 3 acres of land ! Savage looking place. But the best thing about it is it comes with 40acres of forest for an extra 100k.
Fuck me ! If I had the money that's something I'd buy.

Imagine what could be done with that amount of space :bigjoint:

Indeed and it would! That is a tasty looking little piece of kit alright. How easy/difficult is assembly? Bear in mind my DIY skills are limited to changing a plug

Thats literally what i have planed when i win it :lol:
I'll run mine next to my doggie shelter where I'll train them all to be service dogs.

At least I can dream....
