My dad was just diagnosed with MS,and I am looking for some recommendations for strains.I was hoping to find out what's best for this,Indica's,sativa's,or hybrids?I would also like to know if CBD strains are better than just THC strains.I currently have some sativa and indica CBD strains on hand, and some master kush (thc strain). Also, what's more effective, vaporizing or edibles?I have some CBD/THC and THC tincture's made up.Just trying to figure out where I should start with this.My dad is not a cannabis user,so I don't want him to get too high, and get turned off by it.Any help would be appreciated!

Most certainly have.... Got my friend Annie from wheelchair bound, able to walk a few yards on crutches at most, effectively given a life/death sentence by her doctors. She recently applied to our driver licencing service to restore her disabled 'hand controls only' licence to a full able bodied persons regular licence and the authorities had not a feckin clue quite how to go about it! paraplegics are not known to undergo 'miraculous recovery' of the use of their limbs apparently! As to dose/type, simples, hit it hard with both barrels! edibles, topical's, vape/smoked and sativex if you can get hold of it (could be easily duplicated with a spritzer full of diluted shatter). As to THC/CBD she has settled on a 50/50% strain now she is only controlling her remaining (minor) symptoms but I think the Holy Grail Kush she had access to during her recovery phase was the shit kicker but I have little data to base that on other than its peculiar potency.

Topicals can be applied with a trowel and won't get you high but are a superb delivery system for spasms and pain management, you could make him up some coco butter extraction suppositories which are also a powerful delivery system but avoid most of the psychoactive effect but if I were you, I would INSIST I teach him how to get high AND enjoy the sensation, ultimately it will be far preferable to any sensations he will experience from the pharmaceutical 'treatments' his doctors will endeavour to fill him full of. Most often a cocktail of 6-10 different meds with unknown drug interactions and hideous side effects.

What about the CBD strains? Are those very effective for MS?Or should I just stick to THC strains?

I just re read your post and see she used the cbd strain to deal with the minor symptoms.Should I stick to thc strains in the beginning, then use cbd/thc if we get control of it?Are the cbd/thc strains too weak to use exclusively?

. Marijuana doesnt work like that, its trial and error for all of us. Strains grown in different spaces will produce differing active ingredients, those ingredients will act differently depending on dna, health, moods, illness, rx, etc.

Some indicas put some to sleep while others get heart palpitations, cbd's are sworn by some but make me nauseated with a headache every time I use a higher cbd/thc. Some work on sativas and others sleep with them. One persons pain killer might make a different person paranoid, etc.
While he's using marijuanas you'll find useful information in a Dr Wahls book. This is a condition not a disease. It doesnt just happen, its caused. Treating symptoms is the best the medical profession offers, but you can do better than that.
best of wishes

Wot @chemphlegm sed! bang on the money, medical prescribing is pointing to a 50/50% cbd/thc mix as best for my temporal lobe epilepsy but personally anything with 'high cbd' makes me feel sickly, dizzy and generally unpleasant, my personal symptoms/metabolism seem to respond best to high thc indica's and smoked rather than vaped or eaten. The mechanism thru which weed seems to fix MS is the general anti-inflammatory and mylar sheath repair properties of cannabinoids in general so I suggest 'total ingested dose' is far more important to achieve than some selective specific dose.

really you need both strains. My wife has MS, she was diagnosed 2 yrs ago. I usually grow bag o seeds style, most of the time i've been getting Sativa strains, which is good cause it counters the exhaustion feeling she has, late i've been getting with a friend of mine who grows indica's, that helps her spazms, her restless legs, and also helps her sleep.

Lately i've been learning how to actually cook with it, virgin olive oil, cannabutter, and etc. Also cut out the sugar too, i got that recommendation from a friend on here.

There are a few strains that can help, i've gotta save some $$$ for them, but look up Blue Blood, and Black Blood, they are 2 strains if you can cultivate them have a 1:1 . There are prolly more but i have researched them yet.

I tried straight cbd oils etc, in the beginning to no avail other than figuring out there is a faction of cbd sellers who only want to separate my cash from me, quality of products, my health mean a source of fast cash! Beware of dangerous hemp only cbd products, know your source, then I drove by a dispensary billboard one day and I thought why not and 20min later I was walking out with some real thc/cbd products, ACDC, harlequin, etc, but still no relief, I was about to give up on mj when a bud tender who also suffered from relapsing ms helped me find my first successful products, concentrated cbd/thc oils and some blue dream buds, I like good tangerine dream, nyc sour diesel, sativa sour diesels my favorite and most relief comes from Tangie, everyone seems to respond differently keep trying you will find something

Thanks for posting this^^ for those of us with the means to help we need as many personal testimonies to base our advice on and tailor our medicinals to. Most of my products are provided for 'friends of a friend' and I rarely get any detailed feedback beyond 'it worked' or 'it had no effect' and very few get beyond 'it didn't work' to help me figure an appropriate dose/delivery. Can I ask if you smoke/vape or ingest as edibles/tinctures?
oh and also...... MS SUCKS, WEED KICKS ASS! :bigjoint:

I use a two prong approach, I vape flower moments after fixing my morning coffee while I wait for my coconut infused oil to begin working, this is where Tangie, Tangerine and Blue Dream do there first part, I make my own oil via a magic butter machine, I use their recipe which is around an ounce of decarbed tangerine dream or sour diesel bud, I like everyone built a tolerance I used to only need 1/8th a TSP but now use a TSP of oil twice a day, I like a CBD/Thc blend before bed, it used to allow me 6hrs of uninterrupted sleep but lately it's more like 4, I tried making tinctures but my tongue could not handle the alcohol base, the oil makes all the difference in my world, vaping takes 20% of the pain, muscle spasms, contortions, away but it also distracts the mind immediately but once the oil kicks in most days it packs away 80%..... I am currently trying some Greenpoint seeds strains, Chinook Haze, Dream Catcher but Since I like to cure my meds a few months before using I have no report....

ever since my wife got diagnosed, i re-started growing myself.

Since my state, its uber illegal, i figure if i came across some strain that would help, i would get them in time....so i figure i would make a list of strains after all my reading that would help. You might need to search for them a little.

Here they are:
Silver Surfer Haze
Kosher Kush
Harlequin
Northern Lights
New York City Diesel
Afghan
Cannitonic
AC/DC
AK-47
White Rhino
Strawberry Cough
Cali Jack
Blue Blood
Black Blood
AK48
aurora indica

from what i figure and from public "say so", they people who have MS have these strains, other people i'm still finding out. Hope this helps, wish i could get these, so i'll pretty much stay with my Bog O Seeds, till i can get them.....

another thing i've started to learn, is how to actually cook with it.

Like when it say "oil' in the reciepe , i use my infused oil. When it say butter, i use Cannabutter and so on.

If I learned anything it's that everyone is different to a point at least, my issue is the consistency of strains is low, one time I bought blue dream and it was marvelous 30-days later same grower but different run/lot # it did not although blue dream was the first strain that gave me hope, strawberry cough works for me, tangerine dream, Tangie, sour diesel,

So true in the post above. First time I had Strawberry Cough it got rid of a 3 day long severe migraine instantly. I thought it was a miracle strain... 5 years later I have yet to find another Strawberry Cough that has any effect on my migraines, really bums me out.
