Day 1 of flowering for the BB

res change today, later, haven’t done it yet.

aero res
pH 5.8
ppm 810
temp 68f

I decided to flip it yesterday after looking at a bunch of pics of when people flip. Hard for me to get to the back corners, have to get back there today though to finish cleaning up the underside. And weave some more, there’s no method to my madness, just putting tops in holes.

Edit: uploaded the same pic twice :eyesmoke:

changed the res

pH 5.8
ppm 830
temp 68f

2.5ml/gal of emerald harvest calmag (0.2EC, 100ppm), 5,5g/gal mega crop, 3ml/5gal protekt (only add the protekt at res change)

I've been topping up with 5.5g/gal mega crop and 2ml/gal calmag

water level is falling, pH is trending upward (gets stable about 3 days after change probably from the buffering of pH down), EC is stable

Happy new year !!!

Day 4 of flowering for the BB

aero res
pH 5.8
ppm 840
temp 68f

I increased the concentration of the nutrient solution yesterday.

Water level is falling, pH is rising, EC is stable (now, it was falling yesterday)

Got some tucking and weaving to do today. I’ve just been stuffing the big fan leaves under the screen in an effort to get more light to the bud sites.

Day 5 of flowering for the BB

aero res
pH 5.8
ppm 840
temp 68f

water level is falling, pH is rising, EC is falling (slightly)
The foils of a new year! Thing about not writing checks anymore, it'll take me till august to write the dated correctly. Congrats on the TnT nomination!

got some parts that I ordered

just a couple fittings and some valves

They bleed my accumulators every hour, and have bypass valves on them so I can manually bleed them.

This was just to cycle them out so nutrient doesn't sit in the lines for a long time before it hits the plants.

Day 7 of flowering for the BB

aero res
pH 5.8
ppm 650
temp 68f

water level is falling, pH is rising, EC is falling

6 AWB grape ape beans popped on 1/3/18. All 6 germinated and are in the cloner until their taproots are long enough for me to put them in a "seedling collar" (hacked up regular collar).

Don't hate on my humidity dome having turboklone, it's like 30% humidity in the grow room outside of the tents, not good for clones or seedlings.

day 8 of flowering for the BB

res changed today 6g/gal megacrop, 2ml/gal emerald harvest calmag, 0.6ml/gal mammoth p

aero res
pH 5.8
ppm 850
temp 68f

water level is falling, pH is rising, EC is falling

day 2 from germ for the grape ape

still have 6/6 AWB GA seedlings alive. the wet paper towels are just there to increase humidity a bit.

cloner res
pH 5.8
ppm 337 (tapwater and 5ml/gal clonex)
temp 72.4f
ambient under dome 77f 44-60%RH
trying to bring up the average humidity some with those paper towels

Day 9 of flowering for the BB

aero res
pH 5.8
ppm 860
temp 68f

Increased the concentration again yesterday evening, the ppm had fallen to 800.

Day 3 from germ for the grape ape, they’re opening up

cloner res
pH 5.8
ppm 337
temp 72.4f
ambient under dome 68-77f 40-66%RH (humidity drops at night when I don’t miss the dome)

Looking good.

Don't be afraid to super-crop them ladies throughout stretch to even out your canopy. I'd personally tuck some fans below the screen to get some light to any covered tops.

Your grow piqued my curiosity in hpa. Been checking some builds. Any suggestions as where to look? :leaf:

Thanks for stopping by dude,

I've been tucking and weaving like mad, they just keep comin back lol it's a daily struggle, I'm about to start tying them down too.

IDK what configuration you want to do, or how big you want your plants to be. If you've got a small space but no max plant count this shit would kill it with a sog, built just like stinkbud's aero rails but with HPA, so just a few different parts. The plant in my flower tent is in a 5 gallon bucket. I'd do it differently if I didn't have height to consider, with passive draining of the buckets, or possibly one big table with spray bars and a high plant count.

If you'd be comfortable say, building your own rdwc system, building an HPA system isn't any more difficult, just with extra filters so that the sprayers don't get clogged, I use a pre pump strainer (50 micron) and a post pump either 1 or 5 micron sediment filter.

I've found that there's a lot of misinformation out there. Mostly to do with how much to feed them, and how long to wait before spraying. I'd never grown weed before, or really any other plant successfully (besides dwc vegetables, which with I got extremely lucky it seems) so it's been a real struggle for me, because I'm not good at reading plants. I talked with agrihouse, and richard stoner emailed me and he said that you should top out at around 600ppm (TDS 0.5 scale) elemental nutrients, not counting additives. With the fertilizer I'm using now that's somewhere around 900ish ppm +/- 75ppm. I'm just now starting to be comfortable giving them that much food because I know it's easy to overdo it.

They'll let you know right away if they're over watered because they'll start clawing everywhere if they're getting sprayed too much, or too often. My biggest mistake so far has been consistently not giving them enough food. Like right now I just upped the concentration again. Some day I'll get that nailed down.

day 10 of flowering for the BB

aero res
pH 5.8
ppm 860 (down from 950 yesterday evening)
temp 68f

Water level is falling, pH is rising, EC is falling

day 4 since sprouting for the grape ape, don't worry about the ones that are all the way down in their collars, it's because their stems aren't thick enough and they fell down into the collar.

cloner res
pH 5.8
ppm 343 (topped up with ro water, ppm now 335)
temp 72.4f
ambient under the dome 79f 51%RH

Good info. I've rocked several drip dwc scrogs in the past, went to hempy last winter for ease, which I found to be perfect mix of active and passive hydro(which I do hydro in winter, organic in summer months due to temps).

I always keep it lower than 5 plants as it's a misdemeanor. Usually large, pound+ plants in dwc. had two 400s over a single 20 gallon plant at one point. Really came down to a waste of time and space but was a good experience.

I noticed anything over 600ppm under 400s and they showed signs of over fertilizing. Higher light intensity the higher you can run the ppm.

Even with adding ewc teas and decent temps I was getting die off of the bennies causing too much pH fluctuation. That's why aero seems much better as the roots aren't always sitting in water.

I was wondering about you filtering before the pump with dry nutrients. Does green leaf dissolve pretty well? Been hearing good things about them.

You're well on your way to perfecting your environment, and it shows. Keep up the good work:leaf:

Thanks for the kind words

This is the only way I've tried to grow with so far.

I was still getting Ca and K def at 600ppm of megacrop with the plant size I've got. 850-950ppm is where I'm at right now, 100ppm of that is calmag. My lights are 10x cxb3590@1400mA, about 50 watts each. If I see any tip burn with the concentration I'm at now I'll be sure to say something.

I found that if they sit in water at all, even if it's like 1/4" at the bottom of the bucket for less than an hour it causes overwatering symptoms. Which is why I pump it out now every time after the sprayers turn on. A passive way to drain would be a major advantage, I'd like to put another bucket underneath and have it drain into that, and pump it out from there.

Yeah it dissolves really well, 120gr/20gal fully in solution in about 3 minutes mixed with a powerhead, there's more biofilm in the res after each change than with what I was using before, but not the "bad kind", it's there but not smelly. I think it might actually be the kelp extract. I've not had a hard time keeping res temps at 68f. My res is constantly agitated and aerated, because I'm running mammoth p.

I haven't really had any extreme problems with pH, after a res change it trends up pretty hard like 0.5 per day for two days, then it levels off to 0.1 or 0.2/day. I attribute that to either bacterial action, or the plant feeding.
