Immune to edibles??

So I've been a smoker with great success for 20 years. Recently I've tried edibles, with no luck. My mentor gave me cookies with butter made at 4oz per lb, says they knock him out, and my wife can only eat 1/10th, and an old hippie experienced smoker thought he was having a heart attack after one. Me, ate 1.5...nothing.
Made my own cookies, 1 oz per lb. My wife eats 1/2 cookie, all messed up. I ate 3 cookies... nothing.
Tried making strong green dragon. Tried 2ml, nothing, 8ml, nothing. Had wife try 2 ml, babbling and passed out in an hour, still high for a couple hours 8 hrs later
Tried 12ml today...maybe a little funny for 5 min, smoked a couple more bowls...no real difference.
Gonna try making QWET, gonna make butter for wife's edibles, but, am I immune?

I know a couple people that have a hard time catching a buzz or feeling edibles. I do at times.

Expeirment with different times of day and varying degrees of empty stomach. Eat a small fatty snack then try one.

Last week I was at a friends n he made oil n jelly’s , he said one jelly was enough.
Asked if I could have a shot of the oil it was made out of, took 15ml , n ate the jelly .
Nothing ...

Made cannabutter at 1/2oz of good/larf bud per stick. Decarbed at 215-225°f in oven for 40 min, then simmered in butter for 4hrs. Ate a teaspoon, nothing. 2 tsp, nothing. Ate a tablespoon/held under tongue until melted and swallowed, felt maybe a little funny an hour later, got really tired 5 min later.
Gonna try once more today, 2 tbs, probly just make me take a nap. Super jealous seeing my wife get baked for hours off tiny doses. Probly not worth the weed at this point, but gotta know.
ETA: Brewed tea with honey and lemon, melted 2 tbs butter on top. Drank it all quick, ate some chocolate after to get taste out...Nothing. I give up on edibles. Glad they work for wifey. My pax vaporizer should arrive tomorrow, hopefully save my lungs a little.

Edibles are broken down in your liver which is why they take so long to feel. If you have IBS or other liver ailments, your liver may not be able to break down THC. I've also read where some people lack the enzyme in the liver that absorbs THC. Whichever it is, stick with smoking or vaping - in my experience, edibles don't come close to the buzz I get when I smoke.

My most recent batch, I get high almost immediately after eating. but normally it would take a good while to kick in. Not sure why this is, seems like to me I used the same recipe and process as always.

If I knew what I done different, I'd do it everytime.

THIS.

Smoking goes straight from the blood to your brain.
Edibles are metabolized by the liver.
Not everyone can metabolize THC by ingestion. The OP is one of them.
It's not a potency issue.

If you enjoy the buzz from edibles, eat them. If you can't smoke or vape, then edibles are probably your next best choice.

Smoking pot has always made me feel STONED but eating edibles makes me feel DRUGGGED. The buzz is similar but nowhere near as enjoyable for me when I eat edibles, I just don't get the 'euphoric' part of the buzz that I get from smoking. Even vaping, which is closer to the buzz I get from smoking, isn't quite the same thing for me but I still vape when it's 'convenient' and I eat my brownies when I want to sleep soundly at night.

But if I want to get STONED, smoking is by far the best option for me personally. I'd be curious if others have a similar experience as I do, or if we're all somewhat unique.

I have never felt the effects from edibles, I’ve had massive amount of multiple types from soda pops to cookies and brownies, I’m talking about almost 900 to 1000 mg thc and nothing, it’s unfortunate

We are all different in how each of the many cannabinoids work in our bodies.

Shows you an example of why Pharma one shot bullets dont work for all.

I honestly think there are many different factors at play. I totally understand what you are saying here. With me it is a Very Fine line with getting the correct dosage.
Not enough and it barely takes away the pain after it kicks in, leaving you anticipating pain relief for a while and not getting it! Too much and it makes me slightly sick for a very short period and then makes me super sleepy (nice for night time).

It's sort of like when you first started smoking, you need to build a "tolerance" toward edibles as well. Starting with a smaller dosage and getting your body used to it a bit. It helps imo.

I've gifted a couple of my edibles to some patient friends who always touted having a super high tolerance, saying I would really just try half but it's up to you. Then hearing back, I will never have an entire one again! lol.

I find most of the "fancy" edibles sold at dispensaries usually leave me feeling like I had a small joint of mediocre bud. However there's one dispensary who has a patient make their cookies for them..... that guy Knows how to make cookies. Delicious potent cookies.

*In OP's case, It could be a biological issue.. I'm not really sure. My statement was more for general edible cases.

I make really really strong edibles. The last tattoo i got was the end of a sleeve and after 2 hours the tattoo artist said hey what is up. You were giggling and i think you fell asleep. I made cookies that were extremely perfect for the situation. I gave him 4 and he gets it now. :D
I love the edible effect. I love the onset and the buzz but it is very different from smoking or vaping. But it is STRONG if done right.
