The Chinese Quantum Board Knock Off Builds

Rita finally got in touch.

The LM301B FOTOP 320 with shipping is getting a little out of budget. Only if I didn't buy those blurples.

Thoughts on the LM561C version? I've read that the 301 is more efficient but real world experience and results wise, is it still a good buy.

And if I had to choose between a 320 FOTOP LM561C vs the two board 288 V2 LM301B 240 version, which would give better results?

Thanks

What is your space? The kits arent always the best buy. We run FoTop lm561c boards at around 150w each, around 5-6" between the boards, with no heatsinks, X3 @ 80ish us$ each should do a 4x4 fine with great light levels. Also advice to buy your driver from digikey, that way you dont have to do china shipping for warranty.

4.5x2.

I can get the 240 driver here with local warranty, currently 320 or above is not available. Digikey warranty for me would also entail international shipping.

What is your budget? That space looks nice for 3x quantum board copies. Or the "Disco" boards from moflow. Also how high is the space and how high would you want your plants?

Infact; for that setup this should do pretty sweet (depending on what is your desired light levels and hanging height):

4 x "Disco Boards" from R2T, each mounted to a 200x500x3mm Alu sheet.
2x 4 foot alu L-profiles.

You could probably also do it with 3 and push them a bit harder but 4 would be ideal and only another 60ish $$. Better do it right from the start ;)

Drivers: if youre stuck with 240 drivers max id go for 2 hlg185-48A. Make 2 driver groups: 2 edge boards and 2 middle boards together.

If youre like me and think you may wanna add stuff to this later: try go for 600mm alu sheets and 15mm L-frames: that way you will have space to fit 560mm (standqrd for 2 foot strips) and still have a small lip to fit those L-profiles.

@Moflow have you got a the link for those boards? Also could you confirm that they are 48V? @charsi420 : those boards can be customized to use special spectrums, thats how moflow put the disco inside them. Personally i feel that youre probably just better off going with straight lm561c 3000k 80cri and see how you do; if you follow the 600mm recomendation youll be able to jazz up that spectrum on your own for a reasonable sum later, using top diodes. The alibubbahz seem to give decent deal on samsungs but when ever they add other diodes it seems like they are shitty epistars or similar.

Height is exactly 6 feet. Depends on how high up the boards can go.

Didn't know Moflow is a seller. Links please. :-)

Thank you for the suggestions. Not trying to be difficult but not really up to DIY'g the heatsink part.

Which complete kit would suitable for a 4.5x2 ft space?

R2T probably have a heatsink for it as a kit. The diy heatsink is as easy as drilling holes in alu sheet and fitting the board to it. Shipping heatsinks from china is wastefull.

For a complete kit go for 3x quantum copies with heatsinks (or boards in the "Disco" format + LRS350 matched to voltage of the boards (either 36 or 48 should be allright as you will have up to +50V with an lrs350-48A).

I'm waiting on the KingBrite - 1 set--KB-QB288*3-LM301B 3000K (SK bin) (plus 660nm): $240 AND KingBrite - 1 set--KB-QB288*3-LM301B 3000K (SK bin): $240

Figured I'd get one with 660 and one without and see what's the difference. Paid in full last week just waiting for the 660nm to come into stock.

Get some 132qbs from hlg on amazon prime, a driver, wiring and power cord. You could have them with paper clips and fishing line if you want to be real cheap lol. Should be around $300 or less.

Or 2 qb96s for $200 and a driver, wires and lower cord
