Thank you for working with me on this. Please see option 1 and 2 . I really only want to use option 1 due to electric and heat issues . But if its going to produce shit weed then may have no choice but to go for option 2. What do you thin everest_dope ? Or do you have any other suggestion for my 4ftx8ft space
Neither option.
The square set up is still 240w and will light up a 3x3 at best, where the original suggestion Johhny made using two of the 240w bars, each long bar will cover 2x4 space so you can run bar-600whps-bar or 600w hps .bar -bar.

Your still only shaving a few watts off but they are good lights and watt for watt you will get better resultss

Yeah like that pic above (post 24), its the best way to get even distribution of light in a 4x8 tent.

your electric bill depends on amount of watts used. They are the same as the shit lights in power consumption but will perform a lot better.

As an example a 600w hps with digital ballast will run around 630w
if your paying say 15p per kilowatt hour then your looking at 9.45p per hour on the HPS.

If those horti bars are 240w at the wall (might be 5% more) then 480w will cost 7.2 pence per hour.

So your looking at 16.65 p/ph
on 12/12 for flower that's £1.99 per day on flower. For all your lighting
That doesn't include any fans your running but most extractor fans and circulation fans are about 30w each so that's barely noticeable.

Fair point.

Cant comment on that, never used one, but ultimately your spreading the same amount of light over a bigger space.

Nothing stopping you buying one bar and working with 4x6ft of your 4x8 tent though
Ill just order the two . Thank you for your time with me and will upload a diary soon .

Just finishing my Twisted Blueberry in flush

No problem mate.

btw check your electricity bill to find out your kilowatt hour unit charge, i just gave an example and you could be getting a better deal than that on your leccy.

Personally I'd go with 1 1000 watt hps and 2 315 cmh. Then down the road when you upgrade to legit led for flower. You can still use the cmh for veg and mother tents. Or buy led directly from China n diy it yourself. You can get a legit power source for 80$ and panels + heatsink for 500.

I am in a loft space and think 1000w hps will be too much heat.

Although not the best do you think this will be good enough ?option 3.jpg

Don’t know why people be saying vipars are garbage and grow fluffy buds. Done 3 crops so far and only fluffy buds are the lard at the bottom of plant. I got no heat with this light so would be great for small space you can hang it sideways and the 600 I have has veg and bloom switch, you can also daisy chain into light. I think light is on 140 $ so it’s cheaper than buying all the fans and hoods and duck work to get rid of heat from the hps or diy cob,s. Vipar pulls 260 watts from wall, and suppose to be equivalent to 600.( so they say)

Alright man, heres the deal. You're trying to double your space, you're going to need to double your light. If you're not prepared to do this all the way, then you're essentially just downgrading to a larger tent to grow double the amount of shitty, larfy, light starved bud. If you cant afford to do this correctly all the way, this entire endeavor is a waste of all your money and resources. Nobody is telling you not to buy the blurples because we dont want you to succeed, just the opposite. You will be sorely disappointed with the results, and that is a promise, nay, a guarantee.

You were spoon fed marketing garbage and lapped it right up.

Vipars are inefficient. That's what makes them "garbage". The only thing is that I would probably take a 250 watt Vipar over a 250 watt HPS. But then low watt HID lights tend to be less efficient than higher wattage options.

No heat with your light? Bullshit. Your 260 watt Vipar puts out the same amount of heat as a 250 watt HID.

Veg AND bloom switches? Wow.

You can get a complete 600 watt for around $150. 600 watts of Vipar are going to require the same amount of air movement/exchange.

And lastly, no, your Vipar is not equivalent to a 600 watt HID. It's equivalent to a 250 watt HID. Even with the highest quality cobs/panels/strips available, you'll still need to get into the 400 to 450 watt range to match a 600 HID.

All of what you said technically is prob true I am no expert. My point is did you see the pic I put up, I got 4 of those plants in a 40”x40x72 tent with just the vipar, 11 oz dry and it was very good bud, other than crop king genetics. That’s my point that vipars are not “garbage”. I use to grow hydro 10 years ago with a 1000 hps using 2 separate bulbs, so I know about moving heat. When I say no heat from a viper, it was in comparison to a hps. I should have been more clear about that, my bad. I had to replace bulbs for the hps at 90$ a pop too. This is 2 years now for the viper and it still fine. And I only mentioned veg and bloom caz he asked about it earlier in the thread.

lol that plant was tiny, no way what you're saying is true. also you're not helping your case when you say you pay 90 for bulbs. yeah good bulbs are pricey but thats a suckers markup right there.
