Hi guys just got my CFL 250watt red spectrum light for flowering. It's been flowering for a week and half now off a 75 watt led. It was shit . Will this work better . Hanging dodgy due to my reflector not turning up yet. Will this be ok as it is and is it close enough or too close ? Cheers guys

Yes much better, add a shade and you will increase light a lot more too.
Cheers mate. Ordered one at the same time but from a different seller so just waiting on that. Might make my own for now co I dunno how long it will be . In going to put some reflective material on the walls too . Is the light better over the plants as it is or is it better running down the side of the plant ? Would it be worth putting my little led panel running down the side it's blue and red spectrum .

Over the plant is best, can put the led above too but if i wanted more light id prefer a blue 250w cfl to hang next to the red.

A lot of light is put out the top and sides so reflecting that can add a lot more light to the plant.

They are not the best lights but they certainly work well and give ok yeilds for a small grow.

Orca or white mylar will do for lining the tent walls, a tinfoil reflector will work as well but not as good as a real reflector and be aware fire risks as those cfls get hot in places. Also dont cover the ballast or holes or it might over heat a lot.

Cheers. I got the little led just to see if I could grow a bag seed. It grew but vegged for 7 weeks . Then switched to 12/12 a week and half ago . I thought shit my light isn't strong enough for flowering so thought the only cheap option was a CFL red spectrum haha . It only cost me £30 for the bulb and wire . I'm a broke guy at the minute so wanted to try get a couple of ounce off a plant . I'm guessing I won't get that much tho haha

Is this dangerous at all it's wire that's on the actual bulb so I'm guessing it will be ok ? 1588427713354747954446211895655.jpg15884277506964171404281444069313.jpg

Be carefull cfls break easy, prefer metal wire not electrical but if its not burning how you set up is fine although far from depends on a lot of things.

Hang your bulb vertically. It's much better without a reflector. Right now you are losing 1/2 your light that is going "up".
Change it and you'll have better results.
Looks good.
Best of luck!
(Pic for reference) I had to "rig" this one up myself.

I’m a cheap dangerous guy and I think that hanging it like that is a little too dangerous for me. One wrong tap and it all come crashing down.

I think I spy a little spot on the neck where there’s a hole to put a wire to hang. AT least have a wire going through that hole as well to it can’t actually fall.

Then get a big tin foil reflector above. And get all your lights on it some on the side.

Its not better vertical as now even more of the tubes point sideways not down. Horizontal makes a bigger surface area pointing down.

The ballast likes to overheat when the tubes are allowing all their heat to travel upwards to the ballast. Not much of a point depending on the build quality.

Is that better ? It's a 250 watt CFL red spectrum . Just for flowering . Also does my plant have to be closer ? Cheers

As far as distance, I'd say as close as you can without heat being and issue. Use the back of the hand method and you should be good!

Cheers bro . The light has been on for 5 hours and it's warm but not too hot . I was expecting it to be way hotter . So that's a bonus for me. Will I get decent enough bud off this plant with this light . I know the lower buds will be popcorny but will the top colas be good ? Topped it so will have a couple .

Good deal.
As far as harvest goes, on a first grow I would expect to get between .5-.75 grams per watt. So with that light you're looking at about 187.5 grams wet. You lose roughly 75% of weight during the dry which comes out to 46 grams dried. On a good day.

I would guess you'll get 1.5 oz. If you want more, you'll need more light. That's why I run 2,600 watts in my flower tent. :)
