Going from HPS to LED. Worth it?

Ok so for years I used hps 1000,600 yields without co2 yields between 32-20 oz per light with ease now recently I grabbed a HLG 550 for $800+ first harvest same amount of plants I always do yield 16 oz big disappointment plan on selling then going back to hps I also recently purchased some 315 cmh yields 10-12 oz per light only good thing about cmh plants go into flower faster an finish faster so from now on ima going to do CMH HPS grows

That is 0.75 GPW, which isn't far off from what you were previously getting. 32 oz from a 1000w (1100w actual) is 0.81 GPW, and 20 oz from a 600w (660w actual) is 0.85 GPW. Still, I think there is some room for improvement.

How high above canopy did you have the light? What was your room temp?

what led lights do they use on the international space station, thats what i want to try growing with. them some super leds

I feel like you didnt give the LED a chance. you ran it your first time then you just go back to whats youre most comfortable with. I think most HPS growers do that instead of running it for a few more runs and learning how far or close to keep the light, what temps/humidity to run it at, what EC is appropriate for the LED etc.

you have to learn LED one way or another. thats where the tech is headed. HPS is at the end. LED is just getting started. thats my personal logic anyways and Ive been growing with DE for the past few years.

I feel like you didnt give the LED a chance. you ran it your first time then you just go back to whats youre most comfortable with. I think most HPS growers do that instead of running it for a few more runs and learning how far or close to keep the light, what temps/humidity to run it at, what EC is appropriate for the LED etc.

you have to learn LED one way or another. thats where the tech is headed. HPS is at the end. LED is just getting started. thats my personal logic anyways and Ive been growing with DE for the past few years.

It took a while to get EC & RH dialed in after switching to LED.
Plants definitely need more cal-mag than they did with HPS.

And If you really want to see the difference, you've gotta pull the same watts from the wall.

People buy cheap lights that say they can replace a 1,000 watt HPS - but only pull 450 at the wall.
It's a recipe for disappointment...

IM JUST trying them for the first time, but im thinking cuttings seeds and poss a mother plant as for depth of light for a full auto ill find out

And what about the chips burning out, that may be a good driver for leds {thats all that came up with a google search} but the leds keep burning out and thats with a good 4x4x2thick ally mother board heat sink and fan attached

and i fail to see how the lighting experts at bioslighting who are the main guys that NASA are useing to advance light for growing in the led sector are wasting there time by not useing HLG. just an observation, i know othing of leds yet, just learning, but im fed up with my 50 and 100watt chips burning out

im an hps/mh grower or daylight now i have a pollytunnel i can use i may actualy get a fully flowered harvest this year.
but i must admit to having become used to my mh for grow and flower, more lumns with mh

I've just taken delivery of a dimmable kingbright 240w led 4000k it's really feckin bright, I've tested the lux watt for watt against a maxibright Ts x4 T5s at approx 2ft its around 10.000 lux the led at the same height reads of the scale at 30,000 lux so my I'm pretty impressed initially and optimistic about its ability to to cover clones/seedlings and vegitive growth.

I'll be sticking with mh/hps to flower until I can get a feel for the led, from what I'm reading watt for watt the old hps can still hold its own against the new technologies?
