Replacing 2 1000w HID lights with LED. Thoughts?

I don't have time to build anything so a ready made unit is my only option. I'm considering 2 of these with 3500k chips for $654.96 with shipping included. The price seems to change depending on which listing I see, but that's the price the supplier guaranteed. I already own 1 with a mixture of 3000k and 5000k chips and it's a quality unit, but I also hear great things about Meijiu.

This Meijiu is looking pretty sexy:

No price listed. I'm waiting for the sales rep to get back to me on the cost for 2 with shipping. I'm sure it'll be more than the lights above, but they look like they'll spread the light much better over the canopy.

I gotta unload these power sucking heat dispensing 1000w lamps. I won't have to install a mini split AC if I get rid of the HID, and that excites me very much. Spending $700 on 2 new LED lights actually saves me another $800 because I budgeted $1500 for the mini split that I won't need after the light upgrade. Not to mention the $150-$200 per month in electric savings that essentially pays for the lights within 3-4 months. I'm pretty stoked especially as we're moving into another warm summer season. The pressure is on :)

I'm happy I unloaded my HIDs for LED. I do like the bar style better - IMHO better/more even penetration.

The IR they all advertise is bullshit, right?
again....................................why am I going with a high end company? Cause I fucking feel like it.
No reason for your sarcasm bk. So stop the shit show
Whether it's a vibrating dildo or a grow light you should love what you buy and own. It's not someone else's purchase. Fuck them and their opinion unless they're paying for your lights. And if they are a real sweet heart and offering to buy your lights - in that case kiss ass and apologize for your transgressions :)

You'll want meijiu A8 or F8s to replace 1000 watters. There are medicgrow 700w fold 8 fixtures for 589 shipped. I think the meijiu F8 is a better light though but will probably be around 650 shipped each

I've decided on 2 of these 660w units with lm301b diodes, red, and IR. 3500k chips instead of a 3000k/5000k mixture since I know I'm only using it for flowering. I can't remember to the penny and I'm not logging in to look it up, but I believe the contract is for $674 for 2 shipped to my front door. That's half the price Meijiu quoted me for lights of similar power. I have no doubt Meijiu is quality gear judging by how many people are satisfied with their purchases, but the bottom line is I have too many home repairs going on to spend $1400 on 2 lights. I could buy 4 660w boards for the price of 2 Meijiu boards. It is what it is. I even checked budget LED. Not bad prices, but still far beyond what I'm willing to pay for 660w boards.

Now check this out. When I was getting my quote they offered me 2 shipment options. $200 price spread depending on which option is chosen. Fucking wow right? $674 for 18-23 day express sea shipment. About $867 for express UPS shipping 7-10 days. I can't even mount the dam things for another 5 weeks because the room is full of plants, so express sea is a sweet way to save 200 bones. Motherfucker I love me some Alibaba! :)

Then I'm going to get to of the 240w skinny boards @bk78 suggested to replace my 600w HID's. About $240 for both with shipping. With this vendor I've placed 2 orders with already I can unload all of my HID with high quality LED equivalents for under $1k. That saves me $500 over and above the mini split I was going to have to install to control temps in the summer, and I'll be saving around $200 per month in electric expenses. I'm waiting for my sales rep Ring to hit me up with the contract invoice so we can get this shit popping. Jonny wants his new boards on standby ready to rock.

If you are getting quotes on alibaba always ask for sea support freight if offered. It will save you substantially on shipping costs if you are not in a hurry. That's where the money is made. Big companies buy their shit sea support freight. Why? You get it dirt cheap that way, and that's where all the domestic companies make their profits. How fast do you want it is really equivalent to how much you're going to pay. The shipping costs nearly 40% as much as the value of the goods being shipped in some cases.

Edit: Forgot to add the dam link to the boards I'm close to sealing the deal on.

Find out the diode count on those. Meijiu is 288 diodes per board. So 6 would be 1728 diodes

Get 3x meijiu 240w units per 1000w replacement if you want boards but honestly I think boards are outdated. Bar lights are the way to go.

Dude I almost pulled the trigger on the meijiu 240's. They're very nice and would spread the light better than single 660's, but as soon as I watched the checkout price add and compared it to the 2 660w boards I already own one of I couldn't justify the purchase. I would have no reservations ordering a couple Meijiu 240w's down the road, but funds are tight right now. Replacing a roof and shit ain't cheap :)

Contact them for the custom quote with shipping Sea freight to your door.
On it! I'll spend up to $1200 for both lights if the juice is worth the squeeze. I plan to own and use these for 10 years unless they burn out sooner. This is a long term investment for me. Thank you for the great recommendation!

You want the F8’s for the extra money. Around 500 more diodes and better construction. 2 of them shipped sea freight should be around 1200-1300
Between 2 lights that's 1000 extra diodes then. That's substantial, and not something I can ignore. I'll have to ask the wife for some forgiveness if I pull the trigger on the F8's, but that's okay. She's bitchy every day anyways :)

A8’s are made rather cheaply too. F8’s really do say commericial quality for that little extra money at the end of the day.

EDIT : looks like the F8 is 6kg heavier than the A8, that’s saying something.

Meijiu F8:

That is one sexy piece of hardware! The light spread with the extra diodes is beautiful and resolves the issue of too much intensity when qb's are mounted too close together on the heat sink / frame. Waiting for a response for sea support freight quote for 2 lights.
It’s night in China so they’ll probably get back with you in 10-12 hours, let us know the price. I had really good luck messaging Mandy Xiao, Good English and fast response.
