I have the 2-2-2 pure gold instead of the 4-4-4 .. I was thinking of just using it for the first two weeks after sprouting thn switching to the homegrown dr.eatth

Would this be fine? How much should I use just the 2 tbs per gallon or should I double the amount to get 4-4-4?

If you want a quick fix to get 4-4-4.. just double the dose. Depending on the soil you use, you may not need it. Maybe top dress at week 3 of veg. If you transplant.. and the soil has amendments already.. don't add anything.

Well I'm mixing from scratch ,
Peatmoss perlite and ewc with dr.earth ferts.. so I'll need some nutes in there and I think it'll take about a week or 2 to start breaking down ..

Would the 2-2-2 be fine for the seedling stage? and if I'd like when or if I need the 4-4-4 I can just double up the dose

Should I add some lime to the base soiless peat mix ?
I would do a search on threads for building a soilless medium using peat, and the other things you have.. They will pop up as key words in the search. Should help a lot faster than waiting on the best reply. Idk shyt about soilless... so I can't really help further. Good luck tho.

Hey Hydro. I think he's trying to mix his own soil. I would at least throw in some compost too if it was me. I'd probably do like 30/30/30/10, Peat/perlite/compost/EWC. But I use pumice and lava rock instead since they don't break down.

A mulch helps too. Lots of people use straw, but I've been using rice hulls.

Nice nug.

What he said.

I'm sure someone more knowledgeable will be by to help you out, but in the meanwhile you could be searching the forums for what you need.

Ok I getcha I think. I know we may be past this.. but if I were to do something like this mix in the future.. I would start watering it a couple weeks before I plant to get it going. This is where I take notes. Fill a bin of maybe 20gal of the mix... keep it moist for maybe 10 days before planting a seedd straight in a scoop of the soil in a small container.. meanwhile keeping the rest moist for upcoming transplants. Unless I find out a more efficient way of course.

Alright I'm thinking if just using 1/2 tbs per gallon to see how it goes
This might help too.
