Modeling amps have their place. One of my line 6 heads is a hybrid, though only the power section is true tube, not the preamp.

I know about impulse buys also.....

I got sick of not being able to get that true tube tone. I figured I'd get the one with the most preamp tubes lol
ouch, thats going to cost when it come time to replace all them tubes. i just spent £50 on a electro harmonix preamp tube for my orange tiney terror, well worth it though, such a great tube growel, sure beats the ECC83S jj i replaced.

The thing is, I rarely use it. It's too loud. Tubes should last forever. Lol

i dont understand the tube live thing, i thaught that if they work, all's good n well, but someone told me that you need to replace them periodicly. is that true?
Heating them up, then cooling off, time after time, will degrade and make them microphonic. I suppose time degrades them as well, but I've not had a problem yet. Not looking forward to it, if that time comes. Lol

been messing with the preamp tube in the orange amps, not sure whats in the dark terror yet ,just the ordiary tiny terror. but well worth the money to improve the quality of sound from the ordinary one , i dont know if the dark terror's deeper darker sound is from the solid state part of the amp or its a differant tube. ive only just started to get my head around tubes. would love to get an old RCA or MULLARD TUBE TO HEAR THE DIFFERANCE, BUT PAYING UP TO £200 FOR A PREAMP TUBE oops, to find out if its any good or not, i cant justify. there must be a reason there that price, but wether it's old stock value/antique value or sound quality, ive no idea

The vibrato sounds just like Midnight Special from Creedence. I play acoustic/electric so that works for me. It has some depth to it.

Make sure you drain the power caps before you start digging around, so you don't knock yourself on your ass. Lol

yes, ive been fairly warned about messing with the tube. good job too, as i wouldent have thaught to drain the power b4 pulling tubes out.
than you for the extra warning though. it probably would have saved me a nasty shock if i hadent known allready

I knew a guy that shocked the piss of of himself..... literally. He said after a few seconds, he realized he was shocked, a few more seconds, realized his pants were wet. Lol

It only has about 10W but it's more than enough for me. It'd have to be miked for more volume.
its quality isnt it, makes all the differance. you can have a megga loud amp, but without the quality, there just loud. im getting desperate for a decent amp, been getting on well lately, i used to just sit n watch the guitar n amp for some years now, but once i picked up my gretsch (had it standing upright in its rest for 3yrs afraid to touch it lol), one day, decided to go for it and never looked back. but the sound quality from the gretsch is amazing. and deservs a decent amp

This one would pair well with it.
