hello lacy! it's a pleasure to meet you. (*curtsey*)
now that the politeness is out of the way...
haha

dude i need to vent.
topic: interracial dating.
(*lights a cigarette*)
ok.
so im brazilian, mulatta, mixed with mostly african and native american, but there's some portuguese in there. in america, i would be classified as black, because most americans are just conditioned that way. im open to dating any race or color, but i find that most people here arent. it was a major culture shock to come here and see most people dating a person of there own race...
anyways, like i said im open to any race or whatever...but my problem is finding people oif a like mind. gah...someone sees me walking with a guy on my arm, he happens to be white, all hell breaks loose. i know america has made great strides as far as eliminating slavery, segregation, and other hideous laws...but "we" still have a long way to go before we can proudly claim to be a "melting pot"...
i'm not into african-american culture at all, so most of the guys im interested in...aren't black...i mean dude, metallica is my favorite brand, i like philosophy, and i plan on having a nice career after i finish college. i am in no way racist, but let's face it: many blacks aren't doing anything with there lives, we're on very different paths, and i eventually want someone who wants the same things.
(*sigh*)
idk what im saying, i just needed to talk out loud haha
sooo i have a question mainly for the guys: is there something wrong with "people like me" that is a barrier as far as relationship potential is concerned?
i hope ya'll dont take this the wrong way, but it needed to be said.
:P
the only problem i'm having with you is your avatar is hurting my neck. :-P:weed:

Well, if you were in Australia, in most places you'd be flooded with offers.
My opinion? You're not my type. You're hot, and a nice person by the looks of your ascii, but I'm not a metallica fan ;-). But, I would think you'd be a really nice person to know.

If that wasn't a contradictory statement I don't know what is. There are plenty of young black men doing good things with there lives. Turn off BET and think about it. I mean really.

Anyway...Interacial relationships are accepted to a certain degree, but that's all in how you conduct your relationship. If the people involved are confident and content why does the outside worlds opimion matter. I've dated all types of races of women...The woman I chose to spend the rest of my life with is white. Yeah we get our looks here and there but honestly...WHO CARES? If you don't have the courage to withstand looks, petty comments and silly competition from compliment genders from another race...Then stick to your own. But i'd say same race relationships work the same. My marriage isn't different because my wife has less melanin in her skin.

I remember in kindagarten I had the hots for this hispanic girl named Maria hmmm lol. I went to vegas and all the asian chicks would only hang out with asian dudes I was like WTF.lol IDK maybe I just don't want my kids to have worry about a tan lol. Brasil if your having a hard time finding a white boy, I'm available if your ever in Florida lol

Lol... People in Canada are a lot more progressive in dating. But growing up in the states I didn't have many problems...except the time I got chased out of a rural area with a shotgun. :wall:
Don't get your ass chased out of Jamaica........ :weed:

I once dated a unitarian......
I once dated a can of crushed arse holes...... Don't ask.... dumped her...saw her about 10 years later... guess who the arse turned out to be.....

Damn, I thought they closed this thread...great to see it back.Unfortunately, Lacy isn't on this site anymore.Cool chick she was.I can understand what you're saying...I was brought up not to mix races with anyone...I don't teach my kids the same.I slept with a Mexican guy once, that's about as far as my interracial adventures have gone,I seem to be tragically attracted to white guys or something. However, I WOULD like to jump Benicio Del Toro's bones...I've said that enough on here, I'm starting to sound like a stalker. One day, people will not automatically look at a person and say, oh...he's black, or she's Puerto Rican, and instead think, wow, he's handsome and/or she's pretty, and race won't factor in.I think we're getting closer. We have a president who is half black.
excellent point about the presidency...that's partly what i was referring to when i said that america has made "great strides",,,i got all political for a moment.
maaaaan i'd do anything to get with josh hartnett!!!!!!!!!!!

To be honest, race isn't really an issue for me. If you look good and you're a good person, you're exactly that. A good looking good person. All I can say is you have to stand up for your rights as a human and all everyone else's rights. Letting a racial barrier affect your life is letting "them" win.
i agree! i think my problem is that people are closed minded, and i happen to not fit into their little imaginary boxes.
thanks for the support dude
