So, What is everyones take on the last few weeks before harvest in an Ebb&Flow? Should you flush the plants and then let them run with just water or change the nut levels?

Well I was hoping that someone would have something to say. I will explain a little bit more in hopes that I might get a little advise. I got a mix bag of seeds from Amsterdam and since they are all different they are developing about 3 weeks apart from each other. What I got going on is one that is almost done that I moved over to my small Ebb&Flow with just water. She has about a week to go and is looking great. So what I would like to know is using just water the right thing to do or should I be using nuts still?
If I can get a little help I will post photos of what I got going on.

I BELIEVE THE USUAL PRACTICE IS TO ONLY GIVE PLAIN WATER FOR THE LAST WEEK OR TWO, SUPPOSED TO REMOVE EXCESS NUTES FROM THE WEED. i HAVE EVEN READ SOMEWHERE THAT IT IS A GOOD IDEA TO LET THE PLANTS GO BONE DRY JUST BEFORE YOU HARVEST, ANYONE ELSE DO THIS ?

I was thinking about not watering at all the last few days too. Maybe I will try it on the one that is two weeks behind. I will post the results in about two weeks.

I did water only the last week and a half. It turned out very nice. The next one I am going to start on water only in a few days and will do the last few days no nut or water and see what it does. I will post back soon.

The only reason for flushing during the last week or so is to get rid of any "excess" nutes left in the plant. If you are providing the proper amount of nutrients, there should be no reason to flush in a hydro system. Flushing is really only necessary when growing in soil, because the nutrients will accumulate in the medium, requiring the flush. If you are properly feeding your girls in a hydro system, flushing isn't necessary.

Your yield will suffer. The last 2 weeks is when they really put the weight on. Like I said earlier, if you aren't over feeding them, you don't need to flush. Flushing is strictly for getting rid of excess nutes.

It's funny... I have always had that thought... why starve it before harvest...???

I have a buddy... he is awesome... really knows his shit... to the point where he won't really just smoke anything, anyone puts on the table....

Usually he only smokes his own, because he knows what's in it... that it was FLUSHED!!!!

He is so finicky about flushing.... "oh only ten days?????? it's ok! I'll pass, I flushed mine right...!!!!"

So today he comes by.... I show him the jars from my tent harvest (4 strains) ...

He picks one up and says..." My oh My !!! that looks frosty!!! can we try some?"

So I replied by loading the bowl he likes and handing him a freshie....

"Oh Man....!!! This so smooth... so crystally.... aren't you glad you learned to flush correctly??? this would be so harsh to smoke right now... I can tell you did the proper flush I showed you...."

Guess what????

IT WASN'T FLUSHED AT ALL......

IN FACT... IT HAD 1400 PPM AND WAS FLOODED JUST MINUTES BEFORE HARVEST.... THE STEMS CRIED....

But that plant NEVER had ANY nute burn.... it was never over fed.... it was dried properly and is curing now, but even with just a few days of cure....no harshness.. AT ALL....

I don't want any stress in my plants at any point.... especially when they are working the hardest to put on the weight....

I agree there is a place for flushing, but it is not in EVERY harvest of every type....

Agreed. I have it on good authority from people who know a lot more about growing than I probably ever will that buds pack on 25% of their total weight those last 2 weeks. Why starve the plant of the nutrients it needs during this critical time? If you weren't over-nuteing in the first place (unless grown in soil) there isn't a reason to flush.

Ok. I just did one water only for two weeks. It is very tasty and Is a nice Smooth hit and high. I pot the next one in Water only for the last three days. I am going to put it back with my last one and let it finish there to see if I can tell anything. I will post in about a week and a half or two. Then I will let my friend try it and see if he can tell anything.

I would dillute for the last 2 weeks, then flush with water a day or two before harvest. Should give plenty of time to get rid of any excess nutes in the plant.
