Hey... I got the Aerogarden Space Saver 6... Its about 3 weeks into the first batch... I originally planted 4 but one didn't sprout and one dried up and died... I don't know why but it did. But she's not my problem... my problem is my Himalayan Gold... she's 3 weeks exactly but her leaves are getting real brown and fragile... the White rhino is starting to show the same symptoms... I don't know what to do... What light cycle should it be on?? I read 23/1 somewhere... but I keep getting different answers. I just got Ph Up, Ph Down, and an air pump and air stone... anything else I need? any suggestions??

What should I do about the dying leaves?

Whats the best thing to use for controlling pH?

When should I start each new cycle??

Thanks in advance.

it seems like every single person has a problem with leaf discoloration and it goes away on its own usually. ph up and down you can get from petco. in genral look at other ppls grpw journals, ull learn more than whats good for u and u wont need to wait for ppl to answer you. i recoment korvettes grow journals and the aerogarden guides

Did you start out with nutes in the rez from the get go? Usually I've seen that the stock AG nutes are too much for the early baby plants. Wait two weeks then nute. Let em' ride and see what happens. You can always trash them and start over. Have you check the PH? what is it? Good luck

thanks for the help. ive read a bunch of them already but I just wanted to get specific answers... I did start with the nutes from the get-go. I measured the pH and it was no where near where it needed it be... it's at 5.8 ph nute solution now but it was at like 7.4 or something ridiculous... what about light cycle?? 18/6 or 24hrs?

Hey everybody... another question... my white rhino is quickly approaching the lights at 4 weeks old and the lights are all the way up... is there an extension available for the 6 series or can i make one with PVC or something?? is there an alternative to moving the lights? perhaps making the plant itself shorter without killing her?

I've also been contemplating doing a transplant... from AG to Soil and just cloning off of it... any one know if thats feasible, let alone possible, and what's involved in keeping a potted plant healthy?

Thanks,

First time post, long time lurker. I noticed in your pics you don't seem to have plant labels. In the FAQ that SICC recommended, its mentioned that failing to use the plant labels (those little miniature CD-label looking things) can cause some pretty wicked root rot because light+heat+bacteria = bad things. You might want to look into whether or not your sponges / roots have things growing on them you never intended... ?

Roots are good. I've been keeping and eye on them and have applied the labels since then... I'll check out the lighting thing. thanks everybody. I love this website.
good looks cguzmon.

good looks cguzmon.
could be the nute tabs or ph...
i had the same problem with my plants leafs looking like that(but at only 1 week old). i had added the "Starting nutrients" that they supplied and thats when it started happening. I Flushed the resevoir and added normal water*ph'd* and everythings back to normal(those damaged leaves are trashed and clipped off)

word. Yeah... Ph is good... I think it was a result of it getting too much light? It was getting light when it needed to be in darkness... they seem to be getting better on their own (and by on their own i mean with proper pH, nutes, and lighting... so pretty much... all on my own)

Good looks.

your plants are stretching BAD. get some more light on those girls
I just threw in a CFL... 100w in a basic tin housing... I'm looking for bulbs at the moment?? I know I need Daylight... Tungsteng or whatever it is... any suggestions?? 5600k?? I know their all just a different way of saying the same thing but I don't know which one I want...

My current bulb is an Energy Saver 100w but it uses 26w's??? Anybody understand that?? Does it give 100w or 26w?
Should I get another housing and put it on the other side??

Everyone, your having probs because of the ag nutes,i hate em, another thing, ph, get a ph pen with liquid up and down,I recommend general hydroponics nutes, Ususally vegg. for about 3 months and according to how much space you got cause when you switch to 12/12 they gonna get way taller and that could be a prob!Post pics when u can, and lemme know!

ok. keep that ph at 5.9-6.0 is ideal!but 5.8 wont hurt.i keep mine AT 5.9 RELIGIOUSLY!Add as many as you can without burning them or making a heat a problem.
To keep the smell down youll have to keep in a box with ducting or those growtents i heard they work extremely well amd have holes for ventilation and can hang a light in it.im anxious to see mine!

Is there like an air purifier I can just throw in the closet with it on an upper shelf or something and then just seal up the closet?? It has a fan in there already but I don't know if that would work... what do you guys think?
5.9 to 6.0??

i say 5.5 lowest and 5.8 highest
yea man ive had perfect grows with thos ph values,so i guess we can say 5.5-6.0 is the lowest and highest ph for hydro.
