Solar Rips: who else loves em?!

Perhaps a stupid question.

Is there a difference between a solar hit and using a soldering iron? I just got the soldering iron and the hits are super clean and smooth and I can use that method after sunset!
nah man, not a stupid question at all! there is a difference, but the 2 are very similar...i also have a soldering iron, i love the thing, but nothing beats roasting a bowl with the power of our sun! using the iron is basically like vaping, where as solar toking is pretty much in it's own class...the taste you get when solar toking is in a league of it's own, and i actually get more high! the soldering iron is 2nd to the solar, for me anyways...

Now I am a little confused. I have a volcano for vaporizing. You mentioned that the soldering iron is like vaping. Now I have vaped with the soldering iron (which it does a great job at - but that is what my volcano is for). But when I use my soldering iron I use it to light the green and it is just like smoking without the burned / lighter fluid taste. Is that what you are saving is like vaporizing?

I do want to try solar rips for novelty purposes but I don't know where I can do it without someone seeing me - that's all.

I wanted to try a solar hit today but I don't have a magnifying glass, only a 30x loupe. It was slightly overcast outside today, but I decided to try anyway. I spent about 15 minutes outside with no sucess. I got a little bit of smoke a couple times, but then the sun would go back behind a cloud. Do I need to go get a mag. glass, or should I just wait for a sunnier day?

i've never tried with a loupe, but i'd say get a mag glass, you can find em at arts and craft stores for really cheap....it doesn't work too well on overcast days...and tnr, sometimes when i use my soldering iron, i hover the hot tip over the bud, which makes it combust, sorda likea vape, but def not the same....i also have a volcano, love it...i actually don't have a favorite, i just love our beloved herb sooo much, i smoke MANY different ways...and don't forget about edibles, drinks, and tinctures!!

I had a fire start on the back of my property once when it was over a hundred degrees. Turns out the sun refracted through a pop bottle and started the whole thing.... it'll work

By the way, don't you feel just a bit more attracted to my posts for some reason?

I always "light" my green with my soldering iron so that it burns. What can I say - I love "smoking." But when I first got it and was playing around with it I found that if you slowly hover the iron back and forth over the bowl that you can vaporize without igniting the green. It is just like a vaporizor. But like I said - that is what the volcano is for so I just smoke with my soldering iron.

You have obviously tried both - I gotta try a solar hit, but it is going to take me a while to find a suitable location.

On the Space Shuttle, it's the only way they are allowed to toke up. No matches allowed onboard. Nasa will neither confirm nor deny that the astronauts used the Hubble telescope for some amazing solar rips....

dunno, could be.

I think it might actually sufficiently vaporize all the cannabinoids without any loss. I think straight combustion from lighter you lose cannabinoids but this might allow you get all of them, if not most of them.

maybe someone knows the difference between solar radiant heat and lighter combustion could chime in here.
