simple. its called the industrial revolution

people used to die more frequently from infant deaths, disease, infection, or something similar that modern science has been able to prevent.

The percentage of the children born in London who died before the age of five decreased from 74.5% in 1730-1749 to 31.8% in 1810-1829.[22]

It is important to note that life expectancy rises sharply in all cases for those who reach puberty. A pre 20th Century individual who lived past the teenage years could expect to live to an age close to the life expectancy of today.

people live longer because they are healthier. if the food was so bad this would not be the case. hello? :eyesmoke:

People live longer because of modern medicine, not because they are "healthier".

We artificially extend people's lives, bring them back from the dead (literally), and have access to far more advanced lifesaving surgeries, medications, etc, than we did a century ago.

Do less women die during childbirth nowadays because they are healthier? No, they die less during childbirth because of medical intervention. No longer does a woman have to die from loss of blood during childbirth, because we can STOP the bleeding and give them new blood to replace the lost blood.

This has nothing to do with being healthier and everything to do with advances in medicine.

another possibility for longevity could be advancements in medical care and perhaps from a census point of view, technology may be preempting obesity

So, you basically just squashed your own argument and conceded that we're right.

You can be unhealthy and still live a long life, thanks to modern medicine.

Just because we're living longer, doesn't necessarily mean we're healthier though. We're just able to stave off the ill effects of our unhealthy lifestyles with medicine.

Obesity rates are rising, diabetes is now considered an "epidemic", and everyone concedes that obesity is directly related to numerous health problems. Sure, you can be fat and live a long time too, but that doesn't mean it's healthy to be fat.

Give a diabetic person insulin, and they'll live much longer than they would without it. does it make them healthier, though? Nope. they're still diabetic.

IMO you need a good diet AND plenty of physical exercise AND Mental exercise to be a healthy individual. I do see half dead people walking around, ticking time bombs just waiting to happen.

keep trying, .......

you can live a long life without the need of medical care. how hard is that to understand? :dunce:

then again, if you understood that we wouldn't be here arguing.

you still refuse to answer my question. I eat A LOT of junk food. why am i so healthy? for at least the third time.

wait, never mind. you answered all my questions. it's highlighted in blue. i am not part of your "our". explains my confusion. i'm done. sorry.

Too much of anything is a bad thing, period.
Too much sugar will lead to diabetes just like HFCS.
I have seen people all around me completely rid their diet of corn syrup.
But their diet is now always lacking and they always complain about how they wish they could eat this or that. They say if only it didn't have this, or didn't have that.
BULLSHIT to a large extent.
Truth is without the HFCS, the perservatives, etc., we use today,3 billion people would starve!
Like was posted earlier. We all live longer now and longer still in the years to come.
Ask any centurian there secret to longevity.
They are likely to say good sex and happiness is key to long life.

well i would guess ur young (under 60). a high-fat diet, especially saturated and trans fats, over years, will raise your collesterol, plaque and blood pressure.

Ya, I use to be hooked on Mountain Dew.
For about 5 years straight it was literally my form of hydration.

how many years? i will say it again, i see my DR regularly. everything is above average. i top the charts on healthiness, so to speak. though i put on a few after i quite smoking. nothing cleaning the yard won't work off. :bigjoint:

maybe it's just my "genetics".

After a little time in the slammer I got hooked on coffee and been drinking it everyday and most of the nights since.
Coffee, coffee, coffee!
And I can still do triathlons or BJJ for HOURS a night.
The only time I usually drink water is after the gym.

There is no Imminent Danger, you may just have good genetics, and your lifestyle outside of your Diet may give your system enough balance to stay in Homeostasis...

It's the cumulative effect of your prolong diet, and the possibilty that you will not keep up your Current Activity that will eventually determine your Outcome...

It's like all these professional athletes dying in their 40's, 50's, & 60's. They keep their same lifestyle but their Activity has obviously Changed..

and I wouldn't trust Doctors just for their Word anyhow, Many are intelligent / Competent, and it's their Career don't get me Wrong, However, Many just know procedure and it's their Job.. Not that you would have to switch Doctors, I would get 2nd & 3rd opinions from others, especially with concerns that suggested that what I'm consuming may be unhealthy....

i drink nothing BUT soda. all day. my teeth are fine as well. just had them cleaned last week. :bigjoint:

There's only one possible answer.

You're an alien. :bigjoint:

If I drank nothing but soda all day, my kidneys would be bleeding in less than a week and you wouldn't want to smell what kind of syrupy, yellow goo I'd be peeing out. :-(

Obviously, YOUR diet doesn't work for most people. This is why most other people who eat a diet of junk food and sodas are in ill health.

So, are you saying that nutrition experts don't know what they're talking about? Because that's kind of what it sounds like to me. You're implying that because you eat horribly and have (so far) survived unscathed, that we should throw caution to the wind and go for a roll in the twinkie cream?
