Marijuana filled firewood in Alaska
'Hello , is this the P.D Office?'
'Yes. What can I do for you?'
'I'm calling to report 'bout my neighbor , Virgil Smith....He's hidin'
marijuana inside his firewood! Don't quite know how he gets it inside them
logs , but he's hidin' it there.'
'Thank you very much for the call , sir.'
The next day , the P.D. descend on Virgil's house. They search the
steam bath where the firewood is kept. Using axes , they bust open every
piece of wood , but find no marijuana. They sneer at Virgil and leave.
Shortly , the phone rings at Virgil's house.
'Hey , Virgil! This here's Floyd... .Did the Cops come?'
'Yeah!'
'Did they chop your firewood?'
'Yep!'
'Happy Birthday , buddy!'

Not sure how I missed this thread earlier - wish I hadn't.
Good to see fellow Alaskans coming together.
I see a previous discussion concerning the "Under 25" rule for plants - is this not correct? I was/am under the assumption that the NORML site was listing a current summary of Alaska state law?

"Possession of one ounce or less of marijuana in the privacy of the home is legal. The status of possessing an amount between one ounce and four ounces is unclear, pending clarification by the courts. Possession of 4 ounces or more of marijuana is a felony punishable by up to five years in prison and a fine of up to $50,000.

Possession of less than 25 plants is protected under the Alaska Constitution’s right to privacy (See Ravin v. Alaska). Possession of 25 or more marijuana plants is “Misconduct involving a controlled substance in the fourth degree” and is punishable by a fine of up to $50,000 or five years in prison. "

Hey GWN how you been? So are you confirming for me that I dont have to worry about growing in the state of AK as long as I have 24 plants or less? So say if i wanted 4 mothers of 4 strains and 5 of each strain and the cops came in I would be good. i mean thats what i read but still a lil sketchy on running that many though I really REALLY want to lol

My understanding of what I've read & what I could glean out of a police officer is just that - you are allowed to grow (no more than) 24 plants. But (and I think this part sucks) can only have 1 oz of processed weed. Last year I went to visit someone who was locked up in our local pokey & I overheard 2 officers talking. "So what you're saying is that I can't even get a warrant for a marijuana grow unless I know there are 25 plants or more, or they are selling".
I'm kind of leary of asking these questions face to face if you get my drift, but I sure would love for someone in power to say it up front.
Anyway, thats the premise I've been working with.

I would like to organize a patient/caregivers meeting in Anchorage, anyone care to be involved? We should be networking, meeting with the public, and getting the ball rolling in AK. Alaska should not be 20 years behind when it comes to cannabis!

CUT AND PASTE VIA CNN
I liked this comment and wanted to share this, fine points~

We can either ask the Tooth Fairy to stop people taking drugs or we can decide to regulate them properly. Prohibition is not regulation, it's a hideous nightmare for all of us and our families, except of course for the lowest lifeforms amongst us.

Because Drug cartels will always have an endless supply of ready cash for wages, bribery and equipment, no amount of tax money, police powers, weaponry, wishful thinking or pseudo-science will make our streets safe again. Only an end to prohibition can do that! How much longer are we willing to foolishly risk our own survival by continuing to ignore the obvious, historically confirmed solution?

Debating whether a particular drug is harmless or not is missing the whole point. Is marijuana dangerous? Is Cocaine dangerous? Is Alcohol dangerous? I simply don't care if they are or not; If someone wants to attempt to enhance or destroy their lives with drugs thats their business and not anybody else's. Their lives aren't ours to direct.

Why on earth does anyone think it's acceptable to want to control certain behaviors, such as the bedroom habits or choice of poison of fully grown adults? Isn't it high time we evolved enough to get past this crap? Surely we need to accept, that the only way to truly be free, is that you agree, in return, to allow other people to be free, even if it offends your personal sensibilities. What's more; if it's not directly hurting you and you forbid it, then you can be sure that it will create unforeseen circumstances, which WILL have an adverse affect on YOUR wellbeing! -- Actually, a large proportion of those arising circumstances may not come as such a surprise to those of us who are capable of paying due attention to historical precedent.

If you support prohibition then you've helped trigger the worst crime wave in history.

If you support prohibition you've a helped create a black market with massive incentives to hook both adults and children alike.

If you support prohibition you've helped to make these dangerous substances available in schools and prisons.

If you support prohibition you've helped raise gang warfare to a level not seen since the days of alcohol bootlegging.

If you support prohibition you've helped create the prison-for-profit synergy with drug lords.

If you support prohibition you've helped remove many important civil liberties from those citizens you falsely claim to represent.

If you support prohibition you've helped put previously unknown and contaminated drugs on the streets.

If you support prohibition you've helped to escalate Theft, Muggings and Burglaries.

If you support prohibition you've helped to divert scarce law-enforcement resources away from protecting your fellow citizens from the ever escalating violence against their person or property.

If you support prohibition you've helped overcrowd the courts and prisons, thus making it increasingly impossible to curtail the people who are hurting and terrorizing others.

If you support prohibition you've helped evolve local gangs into transnational enterprises with intricate power structures that reach into every corner of society, controlling vast swaths of territory with significant social and military resources at their disposal.

This thread seems dead but ill post anyway. I am born and raised alaskan! Born in Sitka and grew up on Funny River Road in Soldotna baby. No place like it in the states. Ive traveled all over the states and nothing compares. And no better River for catching those big ass juicy fun salmon then the KENAI!!!! hehe. Got back a year ago from college in Texas and I SURE MISSED IT. It truelly is the last frontier. AND the only state in the country where its 100% LEGAL for ANY RESIDENT to burn in THERE HOUSE! No other state rolls like AK. Also if you have a good lawyer or are a little adept at law you can fight any case involving you growing less then 25 plants in your house. AS IT SHOULD BE. I mean WTF? When have you heard of a MURDERING STONER? or Bank Robbing Stoner? Or the guy who beat his kids cuz he likes to get stoned? YOU DONT!!! its such a fucking joke that its illegal. Only reason it is because its such a money maker for the individual counties in the states, aswell as Hemp totally shitting on cotton and many other fabrics. Hemp destroys them in quality. Hemp shirts easy last 5x cotton. But ya, thats gettin kinda deep. Just wanted to shout out to my Alaskan homies. Hopefully we can get another foot or so of snow so we can bust out the sleds. I took mine out the other day and scraped the track up pretty good...still not deep enough. But ya, Toke on my alaskan homies.
