DIY small air conditioner

I hope this helps people as it had helped me when it was summer time.

Materials needed:
Ducting (if you have some laying around free)
Fan (mine costed $10 from an electrical supply store)
Ducting fittings ($10)
Styrofoam cooler (got mine free from a litter bug $5 in gas station)
Ice of some sort

$25 on the cheap unless you have all of this laying around then free!!

First attach your duct fittings to both sides of your fan (you may need a drill if the fitting does not line up with the mounting holes on the fan)



Make air intake holes in the sides of your cooler.


Make a hole for the duct fitting to fit into the lid of the cooler.


Put ice of sorts in the cooler. Remember it will melt!! (I'm poor as fuck so I used jugs filled with frozen water in I'm sure ice packs would work better)


Hook up your new AC unit and replace ice as needed.


Hope this helps some people.

lol what happened? you flood the floor?

one potential problem I see is that duct is long as hell and your using a cpu fan, by the time the air reaches the end its probably room temp again, maybe cut that duct smaller see if it puts out better.

No I didnt flood anything and it's not a computer fan. Computer fans don't run off AC they are DC. I want it removed because I don't want anyone else to see it.

someones butthurt he went four days without a comment.. pretty sick idea but gots to be a hassle to change the ice everyday. LMFAO a CPU fan runs off whatever you want it too. I got a cpu pan plugged directly into my wall.. Its a dell cpu fan that i hooked up to like a cell phone charger or some shit. Damn man your hostile. Here goes a little rep hope your ass feels better. LOL. JP man take it easy.

I think the complexities of power confuse you. Computer fans run off of Digital current, you have modified a cell phone charger to power your computer fan. A cell phone charger converts AC to DC your are not running the fan off what ever you want it still has physical rules to follow. Also you can clearly see in my picture there is no converter. It's a plug for the fitted end of my fan and goes directly to the wall analog power.

Also its only used on very hot days when I need the temp 2-4 degrees lower. And it works very well. As far a being "butthurt" I've requested all my posts removed not just this one. It has nothing to do with how long it took someone to post. It has to do with my willingness to contribute. If you don't like it you can STFU. JP man take it easy.

Ps. Its not hostility if anyone saw me hostile it would be the last thing they saw.

Digital current..... Or maybe Direct current...

Its direct current not "digital current"

Galvanic current is the term we use. Sorry I'm use to working with "digital current" converters. My mistake I apologize to thoes I offended. LoL

I was ready to +REP you for a contribution of ingenuity and then i saw your whining post about removing your posts. If you truly want to remove the damn thing, edit it and remove the info....

All you are doing is grandstanding for attention..... That is why I asked your age. The fact that you responded "old enough" leaves me doubtful....
