ok a worse case scenario. but for the small-time grower in the shed or garage, the feds are not going to set up camp with the (illegal) heat and sound devices) sure, if they suspect a large scale op. was going down, yeah, but they can't and won't waste their time on a guy growing 2-5 plants. as long as you are smart. don't buy with cc's dont make weird purchases out of season like 30 bags of soil if it's 20 below outside! pay cash but at different outlets. don't steal electric

Just play it smart. No light leaks, no odor, and no spreading the word you're growing. Do that and nothing will happen. Hell, I rent and have had zero problems in the past year. My electric bill stays around $80.

what do you mean by no light tweaks.

So why no credit card purchases with the seeds? These seed distibutors dont give away credit card info do they? Please answer this or tell me where i can get seeds quickly with an alternative method.

someone comes into my home and i'm dialin' 911. :)
For some reason, that makes me ROFL!

One thing in mind, cash only for as many transactions as possible. Ordering anything from out of the country MAY draw suspision to the address labeled to recieve. I've seen it happen to a buddy on the East coast.

Make a trip to Canada! Or, find some good stuff and hope for a seed.. or a good friend that you can trust enough to get seeds.. then say they all died outside.

BE CREATIVE!

DO SOMETHING DIFFERENT!

"Loose lips sink ships" - 'nough said.

Do a quick recon mission around your place.. does anything seem out of the norm to you? Lights, smells, sounds.. THINK.

Maintain efficiency. Smallers ops might not need a mega 1000W.. calculate costs.. regulate the times the energy is being used. If there is a 2000W spike at 12am and it flattens at 12 pm.. there might be a red flag. It all depends on the state/country.

Oh, and the internet.

Someone asked why it is advised not to purchase grow-related items w/a credit card.

In short, the answer is "Operation Green Merchant" -- a DEA action from the 1980s in which hydroponics shops, seed companies, subculture magazines, etc. were targeted and in the case of hydro and seed companies some were forced to turn over transaction records. People whose names kept showing up in the records of various merchants--for instance, regularly purchasing seeds and hydroponic supplies--were targeted for follow-up investigations.

Notably, one of the cases generated by Green Merchant resulted in the 9th Circuit ruling that thermal scans were not searches requiring a warrant. This was was later reversed by the US Supreme Court, with the result that today, generally speaking, the cops can no longer conduct 'blanket' overhead scans looking for grow rooms or scan a suspected location w/o a warrant and so extant probable cause. (Note: standard Internet disclaimers apply, I am not a lawyer, etc.)

Anyway, one thing I would add is that like most data mining, this is likely no longer done by human beings. What you want to do is avoid being pattern-matched and red-flagged in some auditing system that will summon a myopic sycophant of the technocracy to have a closer look. The prepaid CC might work, although prepaid cards are already sketchy in my view--I have a feeling that their records might be even more closely inspected for fraud, and any heightened monitoring on the banking side is undesirable.

If you really want to be clever about it, I'd open an account at a bank somewhere abroad, well known to be unfriendly to US LEO inquiries, and get them to issue you a card (although I have to say I'm unsure how much info LEOs can get from a CC network--MC/Visa,etc.--before they have to go to the bank itself, so that might not help all that much.) Of course, then you might attract IRS attention for trying to hide untaxed cash or some such.

Meh, goverment. Despite the worse alternatives, sometimes the Leviathan is a fucking pain in the ass nonetheless.

guns don't kill people..people kill people. Responsible people have rights to own guns, stupid people should not own guns.

People kill people, with guns. It's a lot easier to point and click than to have to fight someone at close quarters. Guns lower the bar in terms of the ability to exert deadly force.

I'm conflicted about gun control, but the whole "guns don't kill people" line has always struck me as the dumbest thing I've ever heard.

Guns are designed to kill people, and nothing else.

There are good arguments for gun ownership, as in 'sometimes people need to kill people,' but that one is specious.
