Opinions On Bulbs

Baby gro, let me ask the question with a little more detail.

I have 5 HPS lights in my flowering chamber. 3 150w on the top and 2 70w on the sides. In addition, I have 5 42w CFLs which go along the back to provide good coverage under the canopy.

In your opinion, will changing out the 5 CFLs from 2700k to 6500k improve the grow environment for flowering?

BTW: The plants are currently recovering from my stupidity (over watering).

Thank you for your replies,

-ngtybear

In my opinion no. Stick with the 2700 cfls.

How did you manage to over-water them?

Eh dont listen to him. He really hasnt a clue. Giving yourself cool as well as warm light should be a good thing. The sun doesnt just stop making 6500k light because the plant is flowering.

Do yourself a favor and give your CFL's to the next sucker and step up to MH and HPS lighting.

You deserve the best weed and not ditch weed.

Losers use CFL's.

As I have no respect for C2M, I disregard what he has to say.

Baby gro and Godkas, gentleman I have split the difference. I put 6500k on one side and left the 2700k on the other. I will post pics when in a few days and let you know which did better. In the worse case, I have 5 great clones waiting to join them. ;)

Baby gro, I over watered them just being stupid. I burnt them a little with some new nutes so I flushed. Once didn't help much so I flushed again... Just to be completely f%$^ing stupid, I transplanted and flushed again!!!!

Lesson learned....

You're quite right it doesn't, but the point is, that the 2700k bulbs would contain sufficient blue light for flowering purposes without the need for it to be supplemented by high blue spectrum lights :)

While it should be sufficient whats the harm of giving it a bulb or two of 5500-6500k. A couple thousand lumens of the opposite spectrum might help facilitate growth of buds. I am testing using 2/1 5500k/2700k and in flower I might go 4 2700k top and 2 5500k sides.

Mr I Can Do That For Half
I like the hort bulbs myself.I use MH for veg and hps for flowering.I have been a 1000 watt light user and 2 different ballasts but have recently decided to sell my 1000 watt systems and just go with my 400 watt setup.I will run 3 or 4 400 watt lights instead of my 1000 watt setup and have decided to ditch my pure MH setups in favor of buying MH conversion bulbs I can just put in my hps ballasts. So anyone need some 1000 watt light setup let me know.Reasonable..

Sylvania grolux bulbs are excellent, you won't go far wrong with one of those.
Sylvania Grolux are the best bulbs in my opinion, theres various sites that say that the sylvania consistantly outperforms the hortilux, if you get a sylvania grolux though make sure the packaging has 4 leafs on the print if it doesnt it doesnt have the enhanced spectrum. I have 3 of these myself.

For anybody reading this thread at all though you must seriously disregard anything chadre has to say as he is totaly biased in to one form of lighting, his opinion is right all the time and when it comes to find the reason behind his beliefs he has no backing for his arguements apart from to rely on something someone else said.

Babygro is always worth a listen he knows his stuff and isnt biased towards any bulb more than the other.

Bull. This same poster recommends digital ballasts and does not tell the truth which could end up killing one of you but go ahead and believe the lies.

Digital ballasts have exploded and caused fires. Why ? Now you do your homework and find out why babygro recommends something which could kill you and burn down your house.

Babygro said they had problems with RF shielding in the cables and guess what? They got that from me and used it as their own concern and the reason I know this is because the issue was isolated to a close circle of people in the know and fixed real quickly on the sly. Babygro did not know about this issue until I brought it up. Oh and the babygro claims of savings is pretty much bullshitt for the weakminded fools ready to be parted with their cash.

I'd take babygro's opinion over your fact for seven days a week, you havent backed up a single arguement yet or proved you have first hand knowledge of growing at all. Still wont be long now and you will hopefully get bored of this little game your playing and move on.

Then you are one dumb mother fugger.

Read this thread where babygro was basically lying and did not know what the fuck they were talking about and this is just a small example. It has to do with warranty's on digital ballasts versus magnetic ballasts. If it does not get your attention with facts, then you do not get it.

Babygro tries to misdirect the post by talking about "math" and totally avoids the question because I busted their fucking asses cold lying about shit they had no clue about but they acted like they know what the fuck they were talking about. Dude that is called a fucking FRAUD. There is no need to act like someone knows and they are really full of shit and talking out of their asses.

I took the liberty to read the a summary of babygros posts and just could not believe shit like "too much light" comments or "I do not see what people see in 1,000 watt lights" loosely paraphrased. I do not need to read more. I know she has an affinity to some low after market CFL system in England and they admitted no knowledge of US laws. It is not hard to profile the shit real quickly kimosabee.

The "too much light" comment just iced the cake this person does not have a clue what the fuck they are talking about and they were just recenty discussing par watts and the inverse square law and Ohm's law......jesus christ. Enough of the bullshiit and time for a douche and an enema to flush out the bullshiiters and followers alike. :blsmoke:

Ok I'm a mechanic/electronics wiz as well a a physics and general science major. Explain to me what in a digital ballast will "explode".

A fire hazard I could see but. THERE ISNT ANYTHING IN IT TO EXPLODE! That is the point of a digital motherfucking ballast. Stop speading lies and slander toward technology what are you christian?

Place your ballast on a fireproof surface somewhere away from your grow room (i dnot care if you have to use a 50ft extension)

Thank you Godka's!!! What the hell put the idea in someone's head that a digital ballast will explode and cause some crazy fire and shit! I'm an experienced commercial electrician and have put thousands and thousands of those things up and absolutely NEVER had one explode!!! I'm no damn engineer, but have been to 2 years of vocational school along with two years of technical school in Electrical and Automation Technology and know damn well what the word digital means!! You're NOT gonna get anything to blow up in that damn ballast!! Like Godka's said, THAT'S THE POINT!!!

"Babygro tries to misdirect the post by talking about "math" and totally avoids the question because I busted their fucking asses cold lying about shit they had no clue about but they acted like they know what the fuck they were talking about. Dude that is called a fucking FRAUD."

What's that Chinga, someone is talking about something they have no clue about?? As the man Ice Cube would say "WHY DON'T YOU CHECK YOURSELF BEFORE YOU WRECK YOURSELF FOOL"

The light attached to the digital ballast exploded and if you would have been reading up, you would not have assumed like a dumb shit, it was the ballast the fucking exploded.

The defects in the digital ballast caused the bulbs to explode and catch fire. Are you that re-fucking-tarded you could not figure that out ? Obviously is the answer.

So Mr. Electronics wiz do your fucking reading so you do not look like a stupid fucker as well as babygrowsshit.
If you would put a limiter after your ballast like you are supposed to (Well any sound minded electrician would.)

Exploding bulbs. Ah yes thanks for reminding me WHY THE FUCK would you advocate a pussy bulb that cant even take getting touched. I mean seriously. CFL's dont explode unless you hit them with a hammer POW!

How did you know it was a defect in the digital ballast that caused the bulb to explode? I've never heard of one instance of digital ballasts causing bulbs to explode, but seeing as you're such an expert on warranties, no doubt you have plenty of verifiable examples to show us.
