It's really sad that such a great member of the riu community is going to jail for selling flowers. Something that almost all of us do here (there are those who just pretend to grow). Whether the glass pipes that he made, or some of the great grows that he had, FDD certainly helped me out, and I'm sure he has helped most people out on this forum.
Though a great lawyer in Springfield would probably help out, I think his best bet would be to find an amazing lawyer in the Chicago area, and see if s/he would be willing to help out. I'm not implying that Springfield doesn't have great lawyers, but Chicago has a tradition of lawyers getting criminals off dating back to Al Capone's era... they could only get him for tax evasion... and I think we all know he did a little more than not pay his taxes.
For those of you who had your little internet squabble with fdd... Grow the fuck up. If you have ever been in jail you'd know that it is the worst fucking place to be, but I'm assuming the people talking shit have no idea what life is like behind bars. Especially in Alameda AND Springfield. Oakland has the highest murder rate and is the third most crime ridden city per capita in the USA behind Baton Rouge and New Orleans. The only good news about going to court in Oakland is that they have bigger things to deal with. Since he got moved to an area that is not mmj friendly at all he's probably going to get some time in the pen. That means that he went from a jail filled with the worst type of offenders to another jail where he has to face a judge that is definitely not going to be lenient about mmj. I think since it's a federal case he also cannot even mention mmj, so he's even more screwed.
Just think about what his family is going through and how much he misses his family. I'm pretty sure FDD had kids... you know how disheartening it would be for a father to miss his childs' bdays and holiday events b/c he got locked up trying to provide for them. So hold back your dumbass responses about karma and what not, and realize that FDD is having the worst time of his life for selling fucking pot. Probably a smaller amount than any of our medium to large sales in the past too.
Finshaggy, go spam another thread. No one wants to hear your paranoid tweeker realizations and you are derailing the topic. Your comments are also causing other concerned members to get very annoyed and causing this thread to go even more off topic. It's very easy to say just ignore the stupidity that is being posted, but if you see a man pushing at a pull door, you're probably going to say something about it.

For anyone who maybe concerned with RIU not being safe, FDD's backyard grow is not what got the attention of the DEA, or whatever busted him. They couldn't careless about a small grow. I'm assuming his buyer was either out of state himself, or selling out of state. They got caught and ratted on FDD. Personal grows will not get federal attention; however, selling to someone out of state or who is selling out of state gets you fucked.
The reason RIU is safe is because of the people who pretend to grow and show pictures of others' grows. They are actually helping us out! Handy indeed. Nothing that you post on here is concrete evidence. The FBI finding your stash, on the other hand, is very concrete and them also having someone narc on you is even more concrete. This is what got FDD arrested, not RIU. There are MUCH MUCH bigger growers on this forum than FDD. Why don't you look up tom hill or any of the other commercial growers on this site. They're still ok.

Someone suggested contacting NORML, so just googled NORML's Illinois chapter. Thought I'd check if they had legal firms listed. Instead, they have a link to their "POW Campaign" advocating for people with lengthy sentences for cannabis trafficking. If they've got a program about it, maybe a phone call would be worthwhile to see if they would verbally suggest some lawyers.

Thank ya'll for the legal suggestions. NORML is a good source as was the one from greatwhitenorth. I've talked with a couple of them and recommended some to Mrs. fdd. Please continue your prayers and contributions, this isn't going to be cheap.

I stand corrected, no question is dumb, in my eyes the reason this is a sticky is because he made a great impact with his knowledge, and helping people out, also we as growers should stand together and support one another, regardless of what the issue is. Thats just my opinion.
