you know what wait till we hear whats going on before we go off on each other.\
We are allowed to grow for our own use, x amount of plants and so much in possession,
when we break the rules we get slapped down again and that which was ALMOST allowed will be made illegal again.

For a moment of sanity... THE DRUG WAR IS A FAILURE AND INJUST.

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/06/01/drug-war-has-failed-report_n_870096.html

NEW YORK -- The global war on drugs has failed and governments should explore legalizing marijuana and other controlled substances, according to a commission that includes former heads of state, a former U.N. secretary-general and a business mogul.
A new report by the Global Commission on Drug Policy argues that the decades-old "global war on drugs has failed, with devastating consequences for individuals and societies around the world." The 24-page paper will be released Thursday.
"Political leaders and public figures should have the courage to articulate publicly what many of them acknowledge privately: that the evidence overwhelmingly demonstrates that repressive strategies will not solve the drug problem, and that the war on drugs has not, and cannot, be won," the report said.
The 19-member commission includes former U.N. Secretary-General Kofi Annan and former U.S. official George P. Schultz, who held cabinet posts under U.S. Presidents Ronald Reagan and Richard Nixon. Others include former U.S. Federal Reserve chairman Paul Volcker, former presidents of Mexico, Brazil and Colombia, writers Carlos Fuentes and Mario Vargas Llosa, U.K. business mogul Richard Branson and the current prime minister of Greece.
Instead of punishing users who the report says "do no harm to others," the commission argues that governments should end criminalization of drug use, experiment with legal models that would undermine organized crime syndicates and offer health and treatment services for drug-users in need....

The commission is especially critical of the United States, which its members say must lead changing its anti-drug policies from being guided by anti-crime approaches to ones rooted in healthcare and human rights.
"We hope this country (the U.S.) at least starts to think there are alternatives," former Colombian president Cesar Gaviria told The Associated Press by phone. "We don't see the U.S. evolving in a way that is complatible with our (countries') long-term interests."
The office of White House drug czar Gil Kerlikowske said the report was misguided.
"Drug addiction is a disease that can be successfully prevented and treated. Making drugs more available – as this report suggests – will make it harder to keep our communities healthy and safe," Office of National Drug Control Policy spokesman Rafael Lemaitre said.
That office cites statistics showing declines in U.S. drug use compared to 30 years ago, along with a more recent 46 percent drop in current cocaine use among young adults over the last five years.
The report cited U.N. estimates that opiate use increased 34.5 percent worldwide and cocaine 27 percent from 1998 to 2008, while the use of cannabis, or marijuana, was up 8.5 percent.

Well I grow for myself a woman with ulcerative colitis, and man with some liver issues. They pay my electricity and a small amount extra for my work.

In the eyes of the FBI what I do is federally illegal... FDD could have been doing the same thing, and yet he should go to jail by your logic. Think before you post.

I couldn't agree more, Matt. I think the system and the way they have done things is retarded. And I don't wish anything bad on FDD.
I do happen to think that painting us all as drug dealers, like the idiot post I quoted, is just the type of shit that causes feds to think they'll find something if they dig in places like this. Plus it's just hillbilly stupid.

Well IMO, if you do not have some elaborate setup providing best buds possible. Why not just grow for yourself? I do not understand how people can justify being paid when they can hardly justify growing the extra plants. Trust me, there are plenty of Large Medical Grows going on up there and down in So Cal, dispensaries also can provide.. So someone who is @ home and grows more plants for ppl, should Have stricter rules.

I do not think people should become caregivers for the Sole reason to have more plants, then slap the "well my patients are sick" excuse on it. Does not make sense to me. Leave it to the professionals w/ the 20k+ labs to grow in ^_^.

I know people who benefit greatly from the caregiver program, though I know many who abuse it & pretend it is all about the patients, when they are just having a blast growing more plants..

^_^ I do not have a problem making some $ off your personal bud, I do have a problem with people making a profit off growing and selling other peoples bud then trying to explain it away.. That is the BS loophole that keeps getting people sent to court, fighting over proof that they needed x amount of meds to supply patients with. Which is why I say people who Cannot afford that lawyer, cannot afford that Warehouse to grow a 30K dollar op.. should not be able to grow others pot. :) Everything in Moderation, give them a foot and they want a mile.. give them a mile & they want to travel that 1 mile across a border.

I'm a home grower with only myself and my five patients and my lab is well well north of 20k. Medical marijuana isn't a primary source of income for me, it's just something I do because I like it and because I don't trust other growers to grow my marijuana with their hot shots and short cuts. I know what is in mine.

Back on topic: Still no word on charges for FDD? I can't believe they haven't charged the man yet. It's well past ridiculous by now. Can't someone who knows his name just pay an attorney enough to inquire on his behalf? I can't see that costing more than a thousand dollars. Possible?

Ok I admit what I initially said was really douchey, sorry about that.

I'm just trying to say that in the eyes of the fed we are no better than a Mexican cartel distributor. They see us all as drug dealers even though, some of us just do it for those in need.

I can agree with that. I apologize to you for my response as well. Sorry.

:) Lucky. Well, that is what I like to hear! I do not like to see someone cramming as many plants possible under 2 400w lights because they have a higher limit ^_^.

You are a perfect example, If you can Afford the equip & proper lighting needed for the op. Then all is a go. Many times people get the limit higher and can hardly afford to grow it efficiently..hoping for profit to expand the op. :)

Boy I long for the good old days when everyone smoked pot or weed, now days it's Medical MJ and of course we don't sell it.......when we get caught we get all bent out of shape and hide behind the movement. There are lots of good people in jail for weed and there is going to be a lot more before you and me take the long dirt nap. Like any good person, no one wishes anyone harm or to do time for it, but that's a fanisity world and what we have here is a real dose of reality, anyone of us could taste soon. Some of us just think they will never get caught, well lets keep a good thought. We all get to choose the path we take some are better than others.

If you like the guy send money if not donate to a food bank.

Peace

I'm serious with the idea that someone who knows his name hire a lawyer to contact the feds and inquire about his charges, or why he is being detained without charges. That's something that could be done in a few hours or less and easily paid for out of this thread. I don't know his real name, nor do I want to, but shouldn't we try something like this to get the ball rolling? I can't think of another first step that's better than this. But I'm all ears if someone else can.

There are some issues being delt with that don't belong in an open forum. A lawyer is in the works. Please contribute, they aren't cheap.

Well. I just called this guy, a federal defense attorney from Chicago. I gave him the information in the thread as far as what is publicly known right now, and asked him what he would charge to inquire on FDD's behalf and find out what his charges are, when he can see a judge, his bail, everything. He said it would only take a few minutes and he probably wouldn't charge much, if anything, to tell you what you need to know. He was on a conference call and asked that someone just go to his web page, fill out the information under 'contact us' and he will respond shortly. Any takers?

Hmmm. Mr. Goldberg just called me back on his cell. He said nobody has sent anything into his website. He was the top search listing on google. He is really interested in helping and he has zero information other than what was posted in this thread. He said the place in Pekin is a federal prison, and that someone isn't telling the whole story because they wouldn't be holding him there in that facility without him being charged yet. I'm not implying anything, just stating what he said.

So, to the people that know something, why don't one of you either contact this man or spit out the whole story so people can make an informed decision about helping out or not? He's offering his services for little or nothing to clear things up and/or help FDD if he's being fucked over. Anyone?

Hey Johnny, maybe you missed cof's post above. Things are being worked on, just not in the open forum.

Thank you

No, I saw it. I was waiting for you or someone else like you to respond. So then, he is charged but it can't be in the open forum? Any updates planned? Fwiw, I didn't ask the guy to call me back or anything and was surprised when he did.

I agee. Something up. I would want to know if he's been just screwed on some bullshit charge or if he is the grand poopah dope exporter for the west coast and his character on RIU was a front !! Makes a difference. If he is charged with exporting POUNDS of shit for profit , sorry have a good time. Need more info.

One thing he has done openly on this site is sell paraphernalia (pipes) across state lines. Isn't that 3 yrs? I'm afraid they will use this as leverage to get him to plead no contest to other charges applied, if they drop this one. It's how these fucks work.

Someone who knows please PM me, I will help but need to know more.

That is kind of what I was thinking. If he's being fucked over he needs a representative. If he has one or has been charged, it would be nice to let people know that. It does make a difference.
