How much are HIDs?

Usually lighting supply houses have the best prices on core and coil kits and lamp-holders and lamps, with much better selections than Lowes or Home Depot... I just priced a 400W HPS kit at $85 at a lighting supply place in my area, but as an electrician, I often have leftover lamps, and fixtures, and dont pay a dime for them....

Is there any lighting houses you could suggest

MH is great to have in addition to HPS in growing mj, as it adds the much needed blue/white spectrum to the lighting... It also helps keep internodal spacing shorter, making for bushier plants, and is purported to give better outcomes in females to males when germing... It ALSO penetrates deeper into the canopy and helps make for a more balanced spectrum, and in my experiences, happier plants, with more resin production, because of the UV-B that they emit, causing the plants to produce more trichs, which is their natural response to such light...... I wouldnt grow under HPS or MH alone, as Im a believer in a mixed spec... It just does better things for one's grow...

Also, if u DO get a kit, Id go with a HPS, as they will safely ignite and run MH lamps of the same wattage the ballast is rated for, but a MH kit will not fir a HPS lamp, as they require a starter... So, thatz an electrician's take on that...

I'd look online then, and try to order it to a friend's house, or at least a different place from where u r growing... Depending on what part of IL u r in, there SHOULD be plenty of lgtg places...

Not really... Just do some research on the proper wiring of a multi-tap core and coil kit, and read the wiring diagrams that it comes with... Alot of kits come pre-wired, and only require the user to plug them in... It all depends on what type u get, and the setup u have, as in how they r controlled... I do not recommend using those cheap little plug-in timers, as they r not rated to carry the constant loads of most HID lights... A time clock with itz own control circuit, and lighting contactors in an enclosure are the safest way to go, and for that, u would probably want to be friends with a wireman... The quickest way to fuck up is by mis-wiring things and burning up precious equipment, and gardens, and worst-case scenario, your home... Just do some research once u get yer kit, and u should be ok... U can get advice from electricians on here(like PMing me), or from electrical supply houses where u would find yer timeclocks, and the proper lighting contactors that r rated to carry these loads... The guy who works at Lowes in the electrical section is likely NOT an electrician, and in my experiences, don't know enough about electrical things to be giving advice...

In Memphis, The Lighting Source or Graham's Lighting...but, I highly doubt u r in Memphis, though...
