There is no better way then soil. Being we get FFOF for 6 bucks a bag and have endless good base soil in our backyard hydro is only in our future for experimentation and nothing more. If you don't have enough space or time to grow what you need in soil then go hydro, you will get through veg a little quicker and maybe have 10% more yield with hydro but it's not worth the time and effort for me.
I find new tech in growing interesting like aero, but I just don't live in an environment where i need to grow in anything other then soil. I could even grow outside but we just have so much wildlife here and our grow area is so big now it's not needed. I would like to build a greenhouse so I could get some daytime light in, maybe next year or two.
10% you really that is all hydro can do over soil? I always heard 33% idk really.

UNDEREDUCATED is definately the case here, this is the 1st post ive ever seen on a weed forum that someone is gonna go up against the world of weed with hydro vs. soil saying hydro sucks........ BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!, learn how to grow before you post a moronic statement like this IMHO!!!!
learn how to grow? lol damn these plants look weak unhealthy and definatly the guys who grew that didn't have a clue what they were doing... talk about moronic mr.

I have had fun with both. I'm enjoying coco right now. I have done better with coco than both soil and hydro.
Which is better?.. I would guess hydro has more potential than soil. That's sort of its thing..

Yeah, I know, coco is hydro. I think you know what I meant.

Ok let me rephrase, learn to grow in hydro, and I'm talking about your statement about hydro, under-educted means you dont know what youre doing with it, thats why it was hard for you, learn it and it would be easier less maintenance than soil, in my opinion, having done both, so when i say learn to grow, I stick by my statement, just cuz you have nice plants does NOT mean you know how to grow good, just means you did the right things, coulda got lucky, real-good grower would know the goods and bads of both, not saying im the best grower but i will bet people will agree there arent any downs with hydro otherhan the slight flavor could be lost thats found better with as organic soil grow, othe than that, twice the yield, and half the maitenance, IF you know what youre doing!!!!!!!!!

PS- Youre plants do looknice, im not here to rip on anyone, just a big blunt HYDRO SUCKS is gonna catch any hydro growers eye, I run a 2 plant top feed DWC system in a 2x4x5 tent with a 600 hps right now 6th day of flower, i keep mine short topped cropped, but they gimme a pound every 2 months perpetual, these are white widow and northern lights day like 54 today this is a very small modest setup that i built mself, other than the tent, but cheap easy, i do nothing other than make sure the nutes are flowing and at the right PH, i run mine between 5.8-6.0, GH Flora series nutes is it, some ph up down, I realy dont see how his can be so hrd to do, I scored half a pound on my1st grow with a 250 and one plant in my closet, and over a poundwith the 600 update. so small seups can produce huge yields for sure, TRY to get a pound in a tent this size with soil, not sayig you cant, but when youre sayin hydro is hard try that one!!!!!IMAG0403.jpgIMAG0412.jpgIMAG0414.jpg

Heroin addicts are preferable. They're okay as long as they have heroin. Those meth heads are just crazy and they never come down.

Not a drain to waist system my resevoir is underneith airated also a water pump pumping nutes over the top , SO>>>>>> top feed plus DWC is my system, ntes keep cycling and every day they get a little lower so you know the plants are loving it and now my roots have hit the waterIMAG0417.jpgIMAG0418.jpgIMAG0419.jpgIMAG0420.jpg

Gotcha sorry, confused, mine is my own little invention, i like the top feed with a drain to a seperate resevroir, or a DWC where the roots hang in the water, mostly hydroton medium used with a rock wool cube, but with mine i usecoco coir/hydroton 75/25 that way the nutes are lower than a DWC and the top fed run off can simply drain also creating air to the nutes and now since the roots are touching the nutes, it turns into a DWC top feed combo since there also an air pump to the nutes, increasing speed in groth, no feeding durung lights out except 15 minutes during the middle, when the lights come on you can see the growh overnight after taking light and nutes awy it flowers fast and creats huge colas, my last one i had one cola 22 grams, several over 14.
mine are ebb and flow grown

have a 2x4x5 tent 600 watt light 6'' carbon exhaust 230 cfm fan, big 30 gallon es, 3 gallon buckets, GeneralHydroponics Flora 3 bottle series, PH 5.5-6.3, veg wth 600 mh for 6 weeks exactly, any strain in m system seems to be the same yield, flower usuall takes 7-8 weeks, i got usually 450-500 grams with either one or two plants, I have the same setup for one plant in a7 gllon pot, get a pound off that also
I would like to have the details on that setup. we bout to run 3800 watts in a 8x8 on flood tables. were going to go uc but next time since we just got moved and all.

Who the fuck started this thread. He sure has come a long way. I have learned lots since these days. Main problem was a tweeker for a partner. He was the contributor for every problem we had and in the the reason we lost everything to the cops. I was fortunat enough to get away out the window when it happened.
I love hydro and am not going to get into comparing to soil or soiless. This shouldnt be the place to argue. Everyone should still be trying to learn more every day. If a person states something he knows is a fact that he can verify he should say so. If its an opinion or a guess let it be known. Would save a bit of arguing. I guess now im older and have a lot more expirence i see arguing as a waste of time. Especially online. Anyone can be anything they want on here. We all should be trying to help eachother instead of thinking we the better grower. Imo the best grower is the one that makes the most money growing.

???? You reopened a 7 year old thread for what reason????

Soil produces higher quality in several respects. That's now 46 years of experience saying it too.

Hydro is nice but, it has it's issues also. Bottom line, the original poster is quite right.
Hydro is faster, and the yield can be just about matched in soil.
Soil is more forgiving, produces better terp profiles and you can use a self watering system to take a vacation....Unless you spend some mighty big $ on automating a hydro operation (including pH control by computer)...You might get away with a weekend away....

Let this thread die back out.....Or, go ahead and let the opinions fly......You got mine.

Have to say i prefer organic too. I think it tastes better also, let alone cheaper to grow.

Though my biggest gripes with hydro grew because of how environmentally unsustainable it is. Got so sick of adding acid to neutral water, buying strong salty nutrient. Being left with waste i can't give my plants outdoors ANY plants outdoors, otherwise it burns them. So instead, i take this salty, acidic, nutrient rich garbage and put it down the drain, for all the natural water ways.

I'll be the first to admit hydroponics is a very effective way to grow. But it's an environmentally harmful one, and that is most of all, why i enjoy smoking organic cannabis more.

Each to his own. Pack a cone pass it around, will happily smoke either! bongsmilie
