New light test and first grow

because they are NOT designed to lower the TDS..........only RO filter/zerowater pitcher/ will lower it

have you tried using your well water on test plants(houseplants/veg/whatever) to see if it's useable at it's current state?????

House plants and garden plants are happy with the well water.
I will look into the zerowater pitcher and see if I can get one next time i go into town.

I used to just go to the local grocery store and buy RO water from the dispensers for 25 cents a gallon before I got my own RO/DI filter.

Don't buy the zero water pitcher......it only filters 40 gallons per cartridge!! And with your high ppms, probably even less.Cali Joe is right you're better off with supermarket brand RO water.

If your garden and house plants are growing great with the well water......than use it! Just don't add any Cal/mag with those tds#'s.

Seeds arrived yesterday!!! Planted all 25 before I thought of taking photos of the seeds. So excited. Gave a good watering with well water adjusted to PH 6.4. Planted just under 1" of losely piled soil. Temp 25C, humidity 60%. Using 2 gallon round pots. Running 18 hr light for the next 3-4 weeks. I hope all 25 grow well.

Figure seeds should sprout out of the dirt in 3-5 days. Hard to resist digging them up to check for progress.

RO water will be used to flush ever few weeks, its an hour into town to get it!! Will use it exclusively for the last two weeks of flowering.

25 plants in a 4x4 room you WILL NEVER get 30 oz's. lol. you will be lucky to get ten. You don't even have enough light for 4 plants let alone 25 lol. good luck.
BTW for what you paid for that plasma you could have bought a 1000 watt hybrid(MH/HPS), fans, a/c and hydro. Man what a waste of money for nothing lol.

The tent is five by five. Plant pots take up 4feet by 4 feet. Not sure what your crudecomment even means. Looking for helpful posts here.

Hey savage,
I like this set up and I'm excited to see your results. With that many plants you could do 12/12 from seed and get decent results. If you have room in your house, put 2-4 of them in a different room under 20/4 light schedule so you can have some mother plants. If you veg out 4 large plants you could easily fill that space once the sea of green finishes.

As far as the high tds is concerned, just make sure it doesn't build up too often. Aerate your well water, because oxygen is ionic and should reduce your TDS slightly. I would use well water 2-3 times and then buy some RO water from the store and use that 1-2 times. That should keep the soil from getting too high in calcium/lime/iron.

If you want to boost the red light, just buy some of the cheap all red 660nm panels from ebay. They are like 30$ but 2-4 of them should do the trick in your room. If you are serious about the high efficiency side of lighting, keep that plasma, and buy some nice leds once you have more money.

As long as you are feeding your plants the right food, giving them the right water, and providing them with the light they need, I see no reason why you can't get at least an ounce a plant. I'm not sure if it's your fist grow or not, but any new set up takes some getting used to. You will find out what your plants want in no time.
Sincerely,
ILovePlants

Thanks for the prediction. I will keep a journal on how things go.
Plasma was cheapish $750 (low heat and power plus full spectrum for healthier plants) and has a flowering footprint on 3 feet by 3 feet. HPS for the smaller perimeter plants untill I can get better for next round.
Cant run a 1000 watt light due to the location of the room, unable to have additional vents for heat.

Money is never watsed, from what I read here a great grower with bad gear can do more than a good gardener with great gear. Plasma lights work, and for my situation it was the best choice. No other light can increase the essential oils and trace cannibiniods I need for my medicine. Full spectrum light does this, HPS and MH do not.

I am trying to grow medicince, not a recreational product. Please send posts that help rather than moch my equipment purchases without any additional info, that does not help me learn anything.

Thanks for this post. Once the seedilings look strong I will switch to 12/12. Thinking about it makes sense do to the number of ladies have planted.

It is my first serious grow, tried a few months back with the three 150watt HPS lights. Got eight plants to grow under them. Small but got .5 oz of each (strains varied). I grew some high CBD strains (1.3 to 2.5 %) and found it helps my symptoms but I could have done the whole thing alot better. I did nothing about PH or feeding and used small 3/4 gallon pots. Setup was ugly and could have been better.

Decided to get serious a month ago. Glad I did. Can't wait for this batch, will be much better.

No room to grow mother plants. Cloning will come in a year or so after I get better. Just doing seed grows and searching for the right strain for my symptoms. Once I find it I will get into cloning.

Thanks for the tip of the red LED, will get some as a Christmas present maybe. I have alot of support so someone might help me out.

I will post regularly once the seeds sprout to be sure I am doing the right moves.

You sound like a complete amuture to me dude. Good luck with your grow lol if you can call it that lol.

Still at 750.00(good deal) for that basically useless plasma(2000.00 average price) could have bought a shit load of led lighting or florescent that would have no to little heat and would have produced some very nice plants, as it is you have invested a lot of money for nothing at this point.

hi, thats all very interesting. Do you maybe have some "science papers" or similar to back this up:

That plasma may be full spectrum but If I were to compare it to anything I would compare it to a led. And at only 300w it is only good for maybe 5 plants at best not 25. but like I said I will watch this thread and see if he gets a crop or not.

Yes, he supplements with LED, but plasma can grow plants... It can veg up a f'ckin storm, and flowers rather well. A little supplemental Red (assuming it's not already the Red oriented grow spectrum) and it's a beast of a light source.

Since when can White light not flower? Like wtf? People have been growing under White light since, well, forever...

Till I see proof I'm not convinced. |BTW that thread you linked to I would say his led's did all the work not the plasma.
And you say white light can flower! Prove it.
I have seen youtube vids of plasma grows but........ these people are useing the big 600w one and one 600water for 3 plants and there plants are growing but they look sick very sick limp sagging yellow and just gross looking plants.
