I would start by removing any dead material and then move my way up. Remove leaves that are at the bottom of the canopy and leaves that might be covering bud sites. Next time just keep tucking the tops under.
I cut root supplements after bud sites form. I think it's a waste to be using them mid/late flower since the plant is focused on flower production in hopes of pollination vs root expansion for plant growth.
