Yes and well spotted! The G5 was made from some serious aluminium, half way through cutting it I realised I had some mesh that would have worked nearly as well but liked the recycled-apple vibe.

I finished my first 2x4 LED build and I'm happy with everything so far. The build mostly went to plan, it included a few ideas I wanted to test out for future so its a bit over-engineered but the basics are 8x CXB3070 8x Arctic Alpine 11 Plus 1x HLG 320 c1050b PWM fan speed control 8x thermal...

Awesome. What wire did you use for the COB power? I was planning on 18AWG stranded silicone.

Thanks man, likewise respect to the forefathers of DIY builds but I've not found any other designs for thermal protection.

Nice work Randy, I'm still working on thermal protection design for fans and liked what Dawg suggested about the dimming circuit. Are your COBs are in series with NC switches? I guess that would shut down the entire COB array on failure and what switch temp switch did you go for?

Thanks The Dawg! Great idea as well. I was considering a thermal shut-down for the whole system and had overlooked any options with the dimmer. With multiple coolers would you suggest all the thermal switches in series with the dimmer pot? Did you use adhesive TIM? Thanks again.

Hi Dawg can you provide more details on the switch ratings and installation. I was considering a similar plan for CPU coolers, tried to search for more info on your build with no success. What temp rating, adhesive and circuit design did you use? Many thanks.
