    Allowance for lights

Thanks for the input 420 Babygro can I ask why you didn't reply to my last questions, I mean you haven't got to, but is it a case of I am not allowed to question what you have told me what you said is gospel and that is that? I hope not because that isn't what learning is all about, learning...

    Allowance for lights

420, cheers for taking the time to draw those up for me - I guess it's make my mind up time now, still not all together sure on the cfl/hps thing I'm hoping for some more input on what I have said about using more light if the light gives out less heat, does anybody agree that if the plant is...

    Allowance for lights

Thanks for this 420 and yes you got the size right, It didn't say in the diy project what size of box to use for the aero unit made but looking at some of the ready made boxes for sale they seem to be around 400mm - 450mm high (16" - 18") not sure what minimum I should allow though really but...

    Allowance for lights

With all respect I have had a further read on plant and photosynthesys to confim what I had already read, but as I understand it plants cannot get too much light but can get too much heat, photosynthesys and other plant growth processes will shut down when the environmental and tissue...

    Purple CFl's

It is not a blacklight It is a PUR light - called purple because it is strong in both red and blue parts of the spectrum, blue and red makes purple. Apparently ordinary fluros emit 100% PAR (Photosynthetically Active Radiation) but PUR lights concentrate on Photosynthetically Useful...

    Purple CFl's

If you look about half way down this page nltes UK - Home it shows purple cfls, colour temperature is suppose to be 25000k and it shows the spectral power distribution to be good in both red and blue. Not sure how that all works but there you go!

    Allowance for lights

Thanks guys 420, The set up you suggest sounds very good and the costs are lower than I am looking at right now but before I can go back to considering HID lamps I just want to get my head straight on env lites for both sections and when I put that to bed I can start to consider HID lamps...

    Allowance for lights

Baby let me start by again thanking you for the lengthy intelligent reply. I do understand about the inverse square law and have this afternoon taken in the lack of loss of light using envirolites. I found it hard to find figures for lumen/sq foot and really based that on one source so...

    Allowance for lights

Hey guys thanks again for the input Well I've been all afternoon looking into these envirolites and to be honest i'm impressed by what I have found! So if i'm right then these lights provide light within the perfect range for growing, the energy use is drastically reduced and there is very...

    Allowance for lights

Babygro, thanks for taking the time to go through this with me! I have just realised that whilst I think oversizing my fans will cool the room suitably now (it's only about 45f outside today) it wont in the summertime when it's as hot or hotter outside than in my room. I soon realsied that I...

    Allowance for lights

Hi, Thanks also for your reply I have not attempted to explain the whole system, instead, just give an idea of what I intend to do to get the answer to the question that I raised. I fully understand the importants of the seperate light cycles and I am sure I can totally light proof one...

    Allowance for lights

Thanks for this reply. Looks like I may struggle for space a bit here to get 2 shelves in 8 foot. I'm sort of working on veggin to 1 foot then assuming that flowering could take them up to 2 feet the aeroponics systems are around 18 inches each so its a bit tight with keeping the light a foot...

    Allowance for lights

Hi, I'm new to this lark, infact only been looking into growing hydroponically for a week or so, but being an avid reader I think I've got a fair understanding of what I ought to be doing (ish). Anyway.. I have (provisionally) decided to grow using aeroponics in a closet that is just under...
