Sure, I used 1" angled aluminum for the sides and 3/4" flat bar aluminum for the middle frame. The flat bar at 1/8" thick is a bit flimsy so I recommend 1/4" thickness. @bizfactory is right, aluminum is pretty easy to drill through. Normal drill bits will work but the metal-specific drill bits...

Loving these new qb132's, just finished my build this past weekend. So clean! Fixture measures 37" x 28" Awesome lights and company. HLG is for real!
