I would use the #2 method definitely in your next series of grows. If you use the 4x8 grow trays, it's a lot easier to move them (little heavier tho). I make a 4x8 scrog kit that fits them like a glove. I've always gotten best results topping, lollipopping about a foot up, and scrogging them...
