Running BJB holders above the 3A / 150V rating?

I have a question. Can a BJB holder be used with four clu048 at 1400mA ? That would be about 148V, which is pretty close to the 150V limit. Is it safe? Or should I buy ideals instead? The lack of adapter ring and less holes make the BJB much more attractive.

Cheap and Cheerful DIY using Citizen cobs

I'm building a small 4 cob array. Maybe I can throw in some 3000k 80CRI, but I'm worried that mixed temps in a small kit like mine won't be able to evenly distribute it's spectrum, making one plant be under 4000k while other is under 3000k and so on. But I'll guess it is not really worth the...

Cheap and Cheerful DIY using Citizen cobs

After reading this thread and several others like crazy I still can't figure what model should I buy. I'm really lost in this debate 80cri x 90cri x color temp. The vendor I am going to buy has only these three options: CLU048 1212 3500K H6K2 90CRI bellow BBL CLU048 1212 3000K M2K1 80 CRI on...

Yes, looking at the one in the back it looks like a 3 leaf plant... They are looking good, but you're going to scrog only the back one? 10 gallon is a pretty massive pot, something like 37L... I really don't know if it will yield you more, I think you'll end up with a lot of unused space in...

Running BJB holders above the 3A / 150V rating?

Sorry, I did not saw the edit. Regarding the second part, the voltage does not pass trough the COB, the cobs are subject to it, just like tension in a string. Voltage is a measure of potential, which is always a measure off differences in energy, if you use a multimeter to measure what is the...

Running BJB holders above the 3A / 150V rating?

The HLG-240H-C1400 is a constant current driver with minimum output voltage of 89V, which means in a parallel circuit each chip would be under 89V of tension at least, way above the optimal voltage for running them. If you put them on series they will be supplied with about 36V and 1.4A current...

I'll go with the B version! I have no trouble in wiring them up and I actually have a spare potentiometer here from some arduino projects I had. I guess I'll go with the 4000K version then, seems to me that bushier plants will be easier to manage in my space and desired plant distribution...

    DIY Citizen Cob LED grow

I was actually just going for a 5x 1212 configuration because I found a guy that sells 5 chip bundle for a cheap price (about 50$) on ebay, with free shipping. If I chose to buy the 1818 I would have to buy them on cobkits or rapidled, which sell them for 14$ the chip + shipping (of about 30$)...

    DIY Citizen Cob LED grow

Sorry, my intention was not to HJ your thread! I know how annoying this kind of thing can be. BTW, it is a nice setup you got there! I have a room of about 4 sqft , I was going to run 5 clu048 1212 in series using a LHG-240H-C1400 driver, which would give 245W of power. My space is not really...

    DIY Citizen Cob LED grow

Hey guys! I know it may not be the adequate place to post this question, but the "if you are new to led" thread was closed. I'm building my first cob panel and I was having a discussion with some friends on a Brazilian forum on what clu048 model I should choose. My idea is to have one 250W...
